Previously President Trump remarked that U.S. leadership were “stupid” for not securing Afghanistan future mineral contracts in exchange for U.S. military operations. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Monday indicated that he wants to reach an agreement with Ukraine to gain access to the country’s rare earth materials as a condition for continuing U.S. support for its war against Russia.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump complained that the U.S. had sent more in military and economic assistance to Ukraine than its European partners, adding, “We’re looking to do a deal with Ukraine where they’re going to secure what we’re giving them with their rare earth and other things.”
Trump suggested that he’s received word from the Ukrainian government that they’d be willing to make a deal to give the U.S. access to the elements critical to the modern high-tech economy.
“I want to have security of rare earth,” Trump added. “We’re putting in hundreds of billions of dollars. They have great rare earth. And I want security of the rare earth, and they’re willing to do it.”
Trump, who had previously said he’d bring about a rapid end to the war, said talks are ongoing to bring the conflict to a close.
“We made a lot of progress on Russia, Ukraine,” Trump said. “We’ll see what happens. We’re going to stop that ridiculous war.” (read more)
Always keep in mind, the U.S. spent trillions of dollars in Afghanistan with no strings attached. We withdrew and China paid a couple billion to the Taliban government, locked in contracts, then took everything. Essentially, China hitched a free-ride on the US-led efforts to stabilize Afghanistan, then locked down all the natural resources.
Fast forward to the era of Trump-T2, and there’s always a possibility President Trump may leave Zelenskyy with his coat, a bible and $200; however, nothing is certain as the Ukraine-Russia negotiations are soon to get underway once the ground starts to thaw.

Also All the tree huggers get bent out of shape anytime anyone wants to open a new mine for any reason. We have 2 large lithium mines ready to go in Nevada. All the Rare Earths from our only operating Rare earth mine in California, are shipped to China for process.
Most all of the worlds Rare Earths are processed in China.
Wyoming last year announced mind boggling rare earth finds.
Imagine the wealth of they that break the code on clean processing thereof.

Thorium can be used as fuel for nuclear reactors. India has built a number of Thorium based reactors based on the initial proof of concept design from the US Oak Ridge national lab.
Back in the early days of nuclear power, Uranium was selected as the nuclear fuel of choice instead of Thorium. That was because Uranium reactions produce Plutonium as a byproduct. Plutonium of course was used in the H-bomb. One of the purposes for the nuclear power program was to generate Plutonium to build up the US nuclear arsenal. (This was back in the 1950s.) The US was the pioneer of all things nuclear and every program all around the world worked to replicate what the USA had already done and how the US had done it.
Had there been no need to build thousands of nukes the world might be Thorium powered right now, and there might not be as much worry about nuclear proliferation or disposal of nuclear waste.
Thorium is also far more plentiful, and India has lots of it.
Thorium reactors can also be used to safely process the existing nuclear waste and turn it into power.
Thorium= Abundant, Clean, Cheap Energy.

I would like to see the following be detailed as part of the peace negotiating process:
The details of the Minsk accords and who violated them.
Exposure of all involved in the color revolution.
Atrocities committed against the Russian speaking people of Eastern Ukraine.
What was going on in the bio labs.
Detailed accounting of how much taxpayer money was siphoned off to Oligarchs and politicians.
How much military hardware was diverted to the black market.
Get as much of the truth out to the world as part of the peace negotiation and then consider deals for things like rare earth materials that might be used to benefit both countries (and us).
We spent billions in money and thousands of lives in Iraq and Russia and China got more out of it than the US .

I am sick with disappointment: Reuters is reporting that after a brief pause, weapons shipments to Ukraine have resumed over the weekend.
President Trump, sir, I want the war over. Many of us voted for you to end the wars, not keep them going or continue the presence of US weapons in Ukraine. I don’t want their minerals. I don’t want any US corporations there because it will mean that we have to have a base there with US soldiers/”peace keepers” and the base has to have missiles, artillery, ammunition, tanks, armored personnel carriers. We should have no business there because our national security concerns are 4000 miles away from there.

Weapons shipments have resumed this past weekend to Ukraine – after a brief pause. If they are continuing, it is because President Trump has allowed that resumption of weapons shipments.
The logic is that if we are getting minerals from Ukraine – this article says that President Trump has suggested this which means that the US would have to have a presence in Ukraine – if the war can be ended. I want the US out of Ukraine. And no more money for Ukraine.

This is one of those things that sounds good until you think about future Democrat administrations demanding equity ownership in US companies for the cost of favorable regulations.

Trump has been a vocal critic of NATO member nations not paying their obligations to fund the alliance. This could be the opportune time to put member nation’s feet too the fire about ponying up the proceeds, and pay all their obligations. Cash strapped nations will most likely balk at the thought of spending the millions-billions they owe. As an option Trump can give them a way out by moving to disband NATO, make it a thing of the past. Trump then, or concurrently, goes to Putin and says: “look, I’ve eliminated the reason you gave for starting the war in Ukraine, so pack up your troops and leave. How about we negotiate a settlement here, where you take your Russian speaking areas that want to be a part of Russia anyway, and we take mineral rights in the rest of the Ukraine.” To make this a long lasting arrangement I would propose the US and Russia join together and establish a few joint military bases in Ukraine. We shared a joint venture with a space station, so why not a few military bases? Of course neither side would stock the place with their latest and greatest top secret hardware, but that’s OK as the bases would still be able to demonstrate to the world that two super powers are working together to secure world peace. It would send a firm message to the would be kings and tyrants in the middle east to knock off their crap and learn to get along. Both the US and Russia have sunk and lost billions in Afghanistan. Maybe we can work together to peacefully extract minerals from that area too.
