Here’s what never made sense to me… and maybe this is just how it’s done… but for missions OF THAT MAGNITUDE… Continuity Of Government => Mission Critical… WHY would they be doing “training” of ANYBODY who doesn’t have serious time at the controls? Like 15-year veterans with 2,000+ hours or whatever?
So, the job requires an amount of previous experience.
You need the job to get the experience, but you can’t get the job without the required experience. So which comes first, the job or the experience?
True that the pilot in command is responsible for the flight. But there’s also more experienced crew members watching over things as a matter of redundancy. As for “training” there is always training going on. Pilots fly on a regular basis to maintain the required currency hours, and to remain proficient.

One of our Treepers with extensive experience in flying helicopters said a pilot should have a minimum of 500 hours of flight time before flying that flight path. Daily Mail makes her sound like an experienced pilot? Was she?
No.
Probably most of the 450 is initial flight training for pilots which includes single engine aircraft.
The question to ask is what was her flight history prior to entering the military, both total time and time in type. I’ve seem a few who struggled a bit and wound up taking near 100 hours before an instructor would sign them off to solo in a small fixed wing aircraft.
Was she flying the near miss helo the day before? Did she have to do it again to requalify?
I would really like to know.
Most likely this was just one of many required flights, both for her and the other members of the crew.

I heard a military man on Newsmax Wednesday night say that so much training was done there and so many helos were in the air because if there was an attack or an emergency, they would need to get to the president and vice president in basically seconds. That the more experienced pilots were constantly checking less experienced pilots.

I read that the plane was ‘diverted’ to a less used, shorter runway, due to the smaller size of the plane and the congestion at the longer runway as it made it’s approach.
I also read that one of the two air traffic controllers (the one in charge of military aircraft) was given permission to leave work early, leaving only one controller to handle both the military and commercial air traffic at the time of the crash.
Maybe the controller who diverted the plane wasn’t familiar with the flight path of the helicopter, and tried to intervene too late to prevent the crash? Had both controllers remained on duty, at least one of them would have been keyed into the flight pattern of the military craft.

Well it looks like I am forced “to got to war” on a side led by reckless lefties like Trudeau and Freeland–a “trade war” with a country with a massively larger GDP but it is also the most indebted country in the history of the world. My next door neighbor was also committed to avoid the USA as much as possible. It would be foolish and pointless for me to donate to any pro Trump U.S. political sites again. I am hopeful Conservative Party leader Pierre Polievre is elected this year, and will start increasing Canada’s independence as a country. Yes, that’s constant flying, but its perspective. 1 hour a day is 240 days or 480 days for 480 hours. Do some division and multiplying to come up with other variations
It means “hours operating an aircraft.”
So 1 000 hours means they’ve operated an aircraft for 1000 hours since becoming a pilot. This number on its own can be misleading, so pilots require a certain amount of recent flight time (along with performing a certain number of take offs and landings) in order to stay current on their flight ratings. That said, your pilot’s licence never actually expires, though you can lose your current status.
For example, I have actually have over 1000 hours of flight time, but it was all 20 years ago so I am nowhere near current. If I wanted to get myself current I’d need a Flight Medical (a type of checkup and tests focused on flight health risks) and then to go up with an instructor to get in the requisite recent hours and takeoffs/landings and finally, since it’s been so long I’d also need a safety flight check with an FAA tester to sign off on my performance.

A bill has been introduced that would allow AI to prescribe medicine. This is the path to AI replacing doctors entirely. I’m sorry, but I’m not for this. AI for the poor people, real doctors for the rich. People with complicated conditions are sometimes able to find a doctor who is willing to try unconventional medicine or techniques on a willing patient. You often see this in 2nd and 3rd world countries that aren’t beholden to big pharma. Reading various reports, these unconventional methods and drugs often times “cure” or help manage the patent’s illness to a degree not possible in the West. Depending on the job, AI is programmed not to answer a certain way or to stonewall. I can’t imagine the FDA and big pharma will be willing to let their custom AI doctors try anything that doesn’t benefit them directly. Say goodbye to any non-pharmaceutical treatment.

Agree that computers should never be put into a position of final decision making – bet it for medicine or driving or in control of weapons systems – and that they’re often severely corrupted by their programmers, be it conventional coding or training.
On the other hand, in the case of medicine they could be helpful in offering potential diagnosis or treatment options to a doctor. Could doctors get lazy and simply rubber stamp the results? The White House is demanding that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., apologize to Americans for saying Friday that his supporters plan to “fight” President Donald Trump’s agenda “in the streets.”
During a press conference in Brooklyn, Jeffries was asked about New York City’s future under embattled Mayor Eric Adams. After saying he’ll comment further on the mayorship “at the appropriate time,” Jeffries focused on attacking Trump and the GOP in Congress.
“We’re going to keep focused on the need to look out for everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans who are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that is trying to cut taxes for billionaires, donors, and wealthy corporations and then stick New Yorkers and working-class Americans across the country with the bill. That’s not acceptable,” Jeffries said toward the end of the press conference.
“We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. And we’re going to fight it in the streets.”
The Trump White House used its “Rapid Response 47” account on X to blast Jeffries for his comments concerning violence in the streets.
“Will Minority Leader Jeffries apologize for this disgusting threat? Or will he double down on the same calls for violence that have plagued the country for years?” the White House X account posted.
