You are conflating or confusing the “drug culture” with ADDICTION, and simplifyimg things, deluding yourself that ‘druggies’ are others, and beneath contempt.
Reality is a significant majority of our population are potential or actual addicts, with drugs only being one way addiction manifests.
Addiction is a disease of the soul, that can manifest in many forms, work-a-holic, etc.
Rush’s case is totally different! There’s a very large gap between those going to a doctor for help with pain, being prescribed poison via Big Pharma, and those who are peer pressured into addiction, and those who would be addicted to anything.
One is pain treatment that ruins lives, the other is wanting to belong, and that comes in all shades, the other is mental illness.
Ultimately, if the drugs weren’t there, they couldn’t take them.
Many here scoff at the notion I should be able to grow my own cannabis to make bread out of it to treat my pain and be able to live with dignity as a functioning member of society.
It feels like many would rather I and others like me eat the pills until our pancreas liquify because idiots abuse the plant to achieve a sophomoric buzz.
I’m all for you self medicating and doing what works, but you’re educated. Self medication ain’t for a lot of folks.
The folks who push/pushed medical cannabis in this Nation had zero intention of letting us get away from Big pHarma and take control of our own medical destiny.
They just wanted to lay the groundwork and infrastructure for recreational weed Cartels that do nothing but make money for investors and the States while Citizens who participate find themselves unemployable.
While people hem and haw about recreational use nobody pays attention to what the plant is really for, which is a Gift From The Creator to ease suffering and kill tumors.
With many drugs, it’s far more than that. It is a real physical addiction, and depending upon the drug, it can be extraordinarily difficult to break that habit.
My Son in law is an addict 15 years now on max “Blue collar working class” doses of opioids. His all too accommodating Doctor recently prescribed him Ozempic for weight loss. So now he will be needle trained and acclimated. I don’t know about your travels Dutchman but I knew many drug users in my life whos number one reason for not using IV drugs was fear of needles. Doc needs a reeducation.

Some are not so addictive, while others are highly addictive. Kids don’t have the cognitive maturity to know what to avoid, particularly when they are so often susceptible to peer pressure. The dealers are an evil lot and should probably mostly be shot on sight. The cartels only care about the money and the power it gives them. It’s a mess any way you look at it. For years, the addicts claimed marijuana was not an addictive drug, which was a huge lie but politically expedient to support. Like I said, it’s just a mess. Then there is alcohol, another addictive drug. Many humans enjoy being high. I believe it’s partially a genetic thing. Certainly, alcohol addiction has a strong genetic component. This will not be an easy problem to solve, but our society is at risk if we don’t. One of the hardest things to accept is an addict is not likely to change if they have little to no desire to rid themselves of their addiction. This is particularly evident when kids become addicts, and parents are desperate to get them off the drugs, but you can’t force an addict to stop. For drug treatment to work, the addict must have some desire to live a drug-free life. Unfortunately, many are lost before they sink deep enough to realize that.
If it weren’t for The Drug Culture….America would not have any culture! Supply and demand to fill an insatiable demand.

These groups should have no voice directly with the government. Nor should they be allowed to make any type of financial contributions. If they wish to “lobby” anyone it should only be toward the American People not to the people’s representatives. Paying off the entire population will cost a lot more than just paying off a few thousand politicians and bureaucrats.

80% of America is obese/pre diabetic/type 2 diabetic, and that includes children. The healthcare costs associated with that are horrendous. Add the fact our birthrate is in the toilet, and we are in serious trouble!
Should we prevent people getting fat? I don’t think so, but they must be made to pay for every single bit of medical attention they need. What we should be doing is banning seed oils, high fructose corn syrup, toxic additives, and the majority of highly processed foods. Many food companies will go out of business, but they deserve it.

I am glad the Legislature’s bill includes many of my proposals, including the long-overdue need to eliminate tuition waivers for illegal immigrant students. But overall, their new bill is substantially weaker than the proposals I outlined and that are necessary to ensure that Florida leads on fulfilling the Trump Administration’s mandate to enforce immigration law and deport illegal aliens:
-It fails to put an enforceable duty on state & local law enforcement to fully cooperate on illegal immigration enforcement. This means that Florida localities will provide no meaningful assistance to federal efforts.
-It unconstitutionally removes authority to enforce the law from the governor to a lower-level cabinet agency, the department of agriculture, that does not oversee state law enforcement and whose stakeholders often oppose enforcement measures.
By giving enforcement power to the ***agricultural arm*** of state government, it ensures that enforcement never actually occurs. In short, it puts the fox in charge of the hen house. [See! Cheap labor overrides all! – W]
This is a unique moment in American history. We are either going to reclaim our sovereignty, uphold the law, and protect our citizens or allow this moment to slip away.
We need strong immigration legislation that ensures Florida is doing everything it can to assist this important federal mission. The Legislature’s bill is a bait-and-switch tactic trying to create the illusion of an illegal immigration crack down, when it does anything but. It is an insult to name such a weak bill after President Trump, who has been so strong on this issue.

NEW YORK, NY — ICE operations to round up and deport undocumented immigrants hit an unexpected snag yesterday, as agents discovered that single men had begun dressing as illegal aliens in hopes that Kristi Noem would detain them.
Immigration agents confirmed that they had mistakenly apprehended multiple single American men who had cleverly disguised themselves as foreign nationals with the goal of having the new Secretary of Homeland Security take custody of them.

Yes. I just listened to that as well. Why the return to base and then no answer from anyone inside the helicopter? I also heard that in a period of around 30 seconds the helicopter went from 1100 ft altitude to 400 ft altitude while zig zagging and perhaps aiming at airplanes taking off or landing.

Senior officials within the Department of Justice (DOJ) have held discussions with federal prosecutors in Manhattan about the possibility of dropping their corruption case against New York Mayor Eric Adams, which emerged after Adams voiced criticism against the Biden administration’s open border policies, the NY Times reports, citing (as always) anonymous sources.
DOJ officials, through the office of President Trump’s new deputy AG, Emil Bove, have also spoken to Adams’ defense counsel since Donald Trump took office, the NY Post further confirms.
Adams notably met with Trump on Jan. 17 at the President’s West Palm Beach, Florida golf course. The Mayor has denied that his legal woes were discussed during the visit, though Trump did speak about a “weaponized” DOJ, according to a person briefed on the meeting.
Adams’ legal team is led by Elon Musk’s attorney, Alex Spiro.
Prior to taking office, Trump had discussed the possibility of pardoning Adams, saying he thought the NY Mayor had been “treated pretty unfairly.”
Instead of a pardon, however, discussions have pivoted to the DOJ simply dropping the charges, sparing Trump from having to use those pardoning powers, according to the Times, which notes that if prosecutors were to dismiss the case, it would allow Adams to tout his innocence as he seeks reelection.
