Here is the game plan that the forces against Trump will be using for the foreseeable future.
They will attempt to get you to make the perfect the enemy of the good.
Be it the freedom clowns and spending, the immigration hawks with H1B visas, the peace doves with timing, the cultural warriors with total bans of DEI/CRT, the neocons with war fighting, or the swamp dwellers with draining the swamp.
All of them will attempt to get you to believe on whatever issue is the issue of the day that it doesn’t go far enough or do enough.
They will try to make you think that some sub issue of that issue is more important and should be handled first, that since the issue hasn’t been handled yet it won’t be, that we can’t do more than one thing, that so and so is a plant to stop the draining of the swamp, or that because it wasn’t 100% Trump lied. On every single issue, one or more groups will attempt this strategy.
You can’t allow them that power over you. If Trump secures the border and deports 2 million, don’t allow them to reduce that good by them saying well he didn’t deport 2.5 million, so he failed or lied.
You can’t allow them to use the perfect to void out the good in the coming months.
They will try. They already have with the CR and the H1b visa debates. It works, that is why they use it.
You have to keep it in the front of your head on everything about to occur that half a loaf or hopefully in most cases 7/8ths a loaf is better than no loaf.
Do not allow them to gaslight you into thinking the good is the enemy of the perfect.
In the real world, most things are never perfect, but if we try real hard, we can get plenty of good accomplished in the coming 4 years.

I can’t remember a chopper going down around DC, except there was a news helicopter that went down maybe 10 years ago, one or two deaths as I recall. Very unusual.
The last plane that went down in the Potomac was maybe 40 years ago, due to ice on the wings.

From what I have seen for reporting, the tower was in contact with the Blackhawk some ~30 seconds before the collision.
Why do the news stories include the very granular detail of the number of the runway the plane was approaching?
Why don’t they just say “landing at Reagan National”?
That deliberate inclusion of the favorite Masonic number has my hackles up.
We don’t have the manifests yet, but I won’t be surprised, at all, if someone who wasn’t just an average person was on that plane.

The runway number might be just be incidental as they are numbered in a particular fashion with respect to navigation. If I recall correctly, a relation to magnetic north.
As for the rest? I am reading that the helo was on a training mission. Obvious where the fault is. The why and how of it went down will be of more interest.
A “Training Mission” is allowed to fly into the controlled Reagan air space? That AP has over 800 flights a day,.. one of the busiest in the USA.

Training and currency requirements include various types of approaches, not just tactical stuff.
Citation of the runway in use gives a rough idea of where the mishap occurred, relative to the airport.
Note for non-aviators that runway number not only identifies the duty runway but the compass orientation of the runway as well. Runway direction is generally planned in accordance with historical patterns for prevailing winds. Larger airports may have offset runways.
Anyone who has flown out of Reagan knows its a pretty short set of runways with water on three sides. Pucker factor goes up if there is a take-off or landing emergency.
Traffic at Reagan is reduced at night. Has been for a long time for noise abatement.
IMO, this one will come down to ATC, helo aircrew and possibly waiver rules for ADSB.
Looking at the map there is one long runway and 2 shorter ones. The long one, runway 19 runs directly N to S. One shorter one. RW 22 runs NE to SW and the one this plane was heading, rw 33 runs SE to NW.
oops, my bad. Apparently these are all double runways. In the same order and opposite directions, runways 1, 4 and 15.

But the DoD has also had an embarrassing string of what should have been preventable incidents in recent years. Everything from destroyers hitting much bigger and slower cargo vessels to losing expensive aircraft. DEI was certainly an aggravating factor in some of that.
My question is:
What’s a military helicopter doing crossing flight paths of a major regional airport?
Couldn’t they have a copter protocol to bank left or right after takeoff to seek less-cluttered airspace before heading to their destination? Rather than what looked like a near-perpendicular flight path of that helicopter across the approaching/departing commercial paths (the predominant runway alignment under the wind direction in effect)
Seems the airport should have established “lanes” with vertical separation for shunting local-area traffic on its way while staying out of the way of taking-off and landing commercial flights
Not sure what I’m missing, but that looks like a pretty bone-headed flight path by that helicopter

the footage I’ve been seeing on Fox News had a view frame of the commercial flight headed into the camera frame head-on and the copter coming from left-of-frame and crashing into the plane … at roughly the same altitude, not “below the plane so they couldn’t see each other” that commentators have been repeating
that seems to require that the predominant footage was from a camera vantage North of the airport and looking across the river from there
that said, I wonder it that copter was coming out of that Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling on the east side of the river?
and was roughly west-bound
and if that’s the case, why would the copter cross major runway alignments instead of going around the whole frikken airport entirely?
what am I missing?

here we go … so the camera for that principal footage we’ve been seeing was looking downstream, just a little east of true south
possible revision:
Fox News just showed a map with the commercial plane symbol over that Anacostia Joint Base and the “crash site” on that bank of the river, so left bank looking downstream
so the commercial flight may have been lining up with that north-northwest trending runway across the river
just saw video footage again and the airplane was descending and there’s river in the foreground
so the airplane would have to have been approaching to cross that river to a runway in the foreground or lap of the camera
that would place the camera position across the river at the airport, looking back across the river to the southeast
and the copter approaching from left of camera frame would have put it north of the plane and heading southwest
so the copter may have been “returning to base” on its side of the river and not “crossing runways” over the airport, like I accused earlier
ok – Fox finally has a runway map up
that entire left bank of the river (protocol is “looking downstream, as the water flows) where Joint Base Anacostia is, is a “helicopter lane” along route 4 (?) but copters are limited to no higher than 400 feet
but with the plane descending and was about 400 feet or a little less at collision, it looks like a bad coincidence of not enough vertical separation for mixed traffic around an airport and would have required more lookout attention by the copter
they’ve got another expert on now explaining details of the usual mixed traffic, with bigger planes taking that big north-south runway and smaller regionals taking that north-northwest-trending runway that this flight was lining up on
by tomorrow, there’ll be clear maps and explanations and I can stop speculating from 6 time zones away
… and now they’ve got a map of that copter’s flight path coming down the river from the north, a long flight path following the river
and the commercial flight crossing Joint Base Anacostia northwest-bound
and the two flight paths intersecting approx east bank of the river at Anacostia
like I said, detailed maps by morning
just to re-emphasize: copter was not “crossing runways” of the commercial airport, which was a seriously egregious condemnation on my part, even if only guessing — I apologize for that, although I was speaking from ignorance more than malice
from what I’ve seen on TV since then, it appears all the action and the crash was on the east side of the river, the joint-base Anacostia side
so the collision happened over the copter’s home base, approximately
and the commercial flight was descending over that area on its way to cross the river to the northwest and land on that northwest-aligned runway
But the helicopter was apparently in the approach path of the plane – who are the superior officers who ordered them to conduct that training session in the path of approach by a commercial plane? It’s like telling a little crawling baby to go play on the freeway. They had no business being IN that space.
I can’t disagree, except to state a slightly different opinion … that the plane was in the path of the helicopter
Maps released later show a very long copter flight path down the river from the north and essentially returning to its home base Anacostia
As it approached, it was in a designated “helicopter lane” that runs down that east bank “along route 4”, it was said.
However, when in that lane, copters are supposed to restrict to 200 feet altitude or less
Last ping from the airplane was at approx 350 feet altitude
So copter was too high … that’s one thing
Next, the predominant airport approach is to the longest runway no. 1, the north-south runway
That would have put the plane on a much-displaced approach, basically up the river from south to northbound and well out from Anacostia
However runway 1 was busy and plane was asked to land on runway 3, the northwest-aligned runway
To approach that runway, the plane had to stay farther east, over Anacostia, and making a left-banking turn to get into a northwest approach to runway 3 across the river
That put the plane over Anacostia, the copter’s home base (?) to which it was returning
The main thing that could have prevented collision was if the copter had religiously adhered to that 200-ft altitude limit
Also – a lot of misstatement’s on TV commentators
A couple state that with the banking turn, the plane was “showing its belly” to the copter
Video footage doesn’t seem to show that the plane was in THAT sever a bank
The other misstatement that ran away was about night-vision glasses
Someone (SecDefense?) mentioned the President had been briefed that the copter crew “HAD night-vision glasses/goggles”
The very next “phone-tag” version by a questioner reframed his question to say that the copter pilots “were wearing” night vision glasses
Then that got repeated by others
But since then, several knowledgable military pilots have said it’s highly unlikely the copter pilots were wearing night vision because in an urban environment with a multitude of city lights, the landscape will “wash out” all your vision and you’ll be unable to see much of anything
So there are a few wrong narratives being circulated via poor wording and inattention to detail
another likely wrong narrative is that the plane “descended onto the copter” and so the plane pilots probably couldn’t see the copter ‘below them’ … and that the copter pilots would have to be ‘looking up’ to have seen the plane
the principal footage out there seems more to show that they were both at approx the same altitude for many seconds before the collision and that the copter was approaching directly left-to-right on the camera frame … again, at about the same altitude of the plane for those seconds
one can’t tell which hit which from that camera angle, tho it’s somewhat a moot point

yes, I’ve heard that narrative, that the military copter batallion rehearses rapid copter evacuation of VIPs and they vary the time of day of the rehearsal flights as one never knows when an evacuation might come
JMHO: ATC w/HELO audio, pilot sounded calm and thought he had it under control.

ATM my bet is the result of a chain of really bad decisions.

If the Regan tower ATC was not using UFH radio to comm with the Mil Hilo, the Black Hawk pilot would not have heard the ATC as mil aircraft only use UHF.
Could be why no reply was recorded from the mil Hilo pilot back to the ATC after ATC asked Hilo pilot if it saw the landing commercial Am Eagle jet.
Commercial aircraft use VHF radio, not UHF.
ATC is supposed to broadcast in both radio frequencies simultaneously.
We’ll soon see.
Will that matter of the VHF versus UHF be part of the effort to muddy the waters and discussion? They should not have even been in that spot in the first place so I want to know who told them to conduct the training mission in that lane of approach.

You are correct. The frequency are paired ( vhf/uhf) simultaneously on transmissions.
Also, the crj would gave tcas alert capability on any transponder equipped aircraft that is a collision threat.
And that close to airport would put them in the TCA ( terminal control area) which requires ATC handling.

I watched the video of the collision and it looked like the Blackhawk was vectoring in on the plane from the rear and travelling much faster too. It looked almost deliberate!

I feel for the Tower person seeing the Blackhawk there and a nightmare moment of “what the hell is he doing there?” How do you warn someone that is already apparently very stupid and I want to know who are the superiors of the Blackhawk operators who “designed” this training mission.
In DC that’s how its done. Nephew with marine one said the traffic is just like that there. Helicopters and planes flying close in a very tight airspace. Usually no issues. Maybe Reagan should be closed to commercial flights and just be for DC and military. Clean up the air space. Terrible tragedy and we won’t know a whole lot for a while. Praying it wasn’t some evil but just inattention. Doesn’t make it easier for those poor families though.

I’ve been praying for those impacted by this tragic accident tonight. What the families are going through is horrific. I lost friends on the flight in 1982 and had nightmares about it for quite awhile. Please pray for the lost souls, the families and for a miracle that some survived.🙏

Crocodiles and tornadoes became my recurring nightmare boogeymen. That lasted about a decade starting in my late twenties.
My nightmares turned me on to lucid dreaming. Pierced the veil a few times, and was able to find resolutions in the dream world.

1) The Blackhawk helicopter was outfitted with a Sikorsky MATRIX automation unit, meaning the helicopter could be flown remotely;
2) It is clear from the videos the helicopter flew directly into the jet;
3) The Blackhawk was manned with 3 soldiers;
4) Whoever was piloting the helicopter did not respond to air traffic control;
5) Air traffic control was not clear in its communication; and
6) A high-profile group (US figure skating couple with their world-renown Russian skaters-turned coaches) were aboard the jet, and are among the missing.
So….
Was this another DEI fubar, DC’s DEI incompetence on full display? Possibly
Was this an incredible (=unbelievable) cascade of incidences and lapses between air traffic control and a training helicopter flight? Possibly
What was the helicopter training flight for? The training of a human pilot? or the training of a remote control pilot with soldiers aboard? Who knows…
Was it a training flight, where the automated unit was hacked and remotely taken over, and the helicopter remotely driven straight into the jet? Given Biden’s selling out to the Chinese on virtually everything, that should be a distinct possibility not waved away as a conspiracy theory…fantastical, possibly, but a possibility nonetheless.
Given there were high-profile Russians aboard the jet, that would preclude Russian hackers….but a Chinese hack to make PTrump look bad in front of Putin isn’t outside Xi’s handbook.
I do know the PTrump is quite saddened and angry about it. America ought to be both saddened AND angry about it.
Yet, if it was a hack into an automated piloting system by a foreign actor, we will never get the full story. No one at the top would want it known the US military is so breached this kind of thing could happen with impunity and ease.

If it was US Army personnel why were they in civilian airspace doing “training” – don’t they have military bases and dedicated spaces for training where civilian life is not disrupted or endangered? If they had to be told they were in the flight path of planes making the approach to land, why they in that space in the first place – 350 to 400 feet alt. and they did not KNOW they were in the approach path? Why put yourselves in that box in the first place? What in the hell kind of “training” is that?

President Trump ordered his agencies including the ACOE, DOI, DOC etc in California to release water from federal land to Southern California. I suspect that it’s a fairly complicated process and will take a few days at least.
From Federal land? Huh? We have water stored in reservoirs. Sloppy communication for several days now:
1. Our water comes primarily from the Sierras and our large NorCal Reservoirs.
2. It’s exceedingly rare to hear anyone to refer to Northern California as the ‘Pacific Northwest’.
3. Our reservoirs are at or above historic averages already! (We could pump a little more to the San Luis (transfer) Reservoir.)
4. The Central Valley, and specifically the southern CV, may be starved for water.
5. We’ve had two great years for rain and snowpack, but last years farmers only got 50% of their allotted water (but pay for 100%). Worse still, it’s allotted late, the last 10% in June! Farmers need time to plan.
6. I’m still confused on recharging our depleted aquifers. The State is setting aside designated land to flood for recharge. Why aren’t we flooding appropriate fallow lands and farms when we get blockbuster storms? I’m also unclear if we charge farmers to recharge
aquifers on their land.
7. Someone could light a fire under Newsom to speed up the planned new Sites Reservoir, and expansion of San Luis and Los Vaqueros Reservoirs. (LVR expansion was just halted due to more red tape and therefore costs.)
Obviously, there are lakes, rivers and dams on federal land in California, Oregon, Nevada and Arizona.

Clarkston, GA has…. 6 refugee organizations operating within it’s city limits, and feeding
into many, many, many apartment complexes in unicorporated surrounding areas.
My neighborhood has a lot of families that were originally brought in through Clarkston,
most 10-2 years ago. Quite a few are, (one on one) quite nice.
BUT the handouts that they originally received allowed many of them to stash away
dollars and buy a house much sooner then many people that actually grew up here in
Tucker. And, their houses tend to be larger, and their cars tend to be newer.
When my kids were in high school, I could tell what country all the immigration was
coming from. One year in particular our 1500 student high school received a gift of
300-400 persons from Nepal. The next year it would be someplace else.
A friend that lives right outside Clarkston city limits calls it the “refugee hustle”.
I’m anxiously awaiting to see if signs start appearing about the money and person
spigot being turned off. It could start an apartment complex price war. Literally
2000 units in the vicinity are refugee resettlement, brought in by the NGOs. And,
they all have kids.

I have an 2024 escape loaner while my 2012 is being repaired…the body of loaner is very flimsy (gasoline door latch is all plastic, the back where my dog crates and precious cargo travel is also pretty flimsy), not solid like my 2012. The 2024 gets better mileage by maybe 50-75 miles per tank. Way too much computer stuff on it. And the 2024 frequently tries to do what I call a “dry hydro plane” on dry roads at 40 degrees and 50 mph.

I’ve complained to medical facilities on 4 or 5 occasions in the past 18 months when I found incorrect information in my records. Most egregious are the statements that a procedure and its possible ramifications were explained in advance of that procedure. Well, no, the ramifications were explained the very first time, and only the very first time. When someone has subsequent biopsies or surgeries, then everything should be explained all over again. My favorite is being administered a drug which is listed in my “adverse reaction” list. The medical record states “…with patient consent.”
The use of AI-type software to fill in medical reports is going to make some attorneys wealthy, and hopefully their still-living clients as well.
The only time I can get false, incorrect, or outdated information removed, is when I am one-on-one with my primary care doctor, and we deal with that issue on the spot.
I realize that my case may well be nearly unique, as I’ve had the same doctor for 25 years.
It cleared up an antiquated diagnosis that was incorrectly worded in the records, and was labelled a current, chronic condition when in fact it was an acute condition resolved decades ago.
The issue came up while we were going through my records, trying to find out why the system was claiming I was due for a procedure and out of compliance, when in fact the doctors were telling me I wasn’t due for another 5 years.

When I worked at a large retail chain pharmacy (2007-2010) we were required to include the info sheets with every prescription.
For black box drugs, the pharmacist was required to counsel the patient on side effects and contraindications.

I often said that about the student bodies of two school districts in my area.
There were always complaints that the suburban district had some kind of advantages that the inner-city school did not, almost as if they considered the suburban school the cause of the other school’s problems.
If you switched entirely the student bodies of the schools, the poor district school would have improved dramatically, and the more affluent school’s students might experience a slight increase in performance, but overall performance compared to what it had been would be lower.

Having seen 9/11 from up here in this neck of the woods, I am NOT assuming at all that this helicopter flying into that plane was an accident or a DEI failure.
There are bad people now in our Military, (look at that crazy nut that crashed into the crowd in NOLA) there were Russian ice skaters on board.

Agreed – there are too many loose ends, particularly when I read the military helicopter was equipped with an automated piloting unit.
Who was really doing the flying, and who was really being trained?

True but 2 of them have died since being freed. Same thing happened to people who survived that Las Vegas massacre and tried to figure out what really happened.
He is a historic president now not because he is the first orange president or any of that quaint Obama stuff. He’s historic because of what he will do. God saved him for a reason. We do not fully know that reason but the politicians and the lawyers do not want to be on the wrong side of God.
