It is NOT against the law to hold another job while employed as a Fed.
However: it IS against the law if anyone was doing the extra job during the time period each day that they were supposed to be doing their Fed job.

Are you sure that it isn’t against the law to work an extra job while holding a federal job? I worked for local government for 30 years. I was an exempt employee, salaried so I didn’t have absolute hours. It was a professional job. But it was illegal for me to have a second job, unless I had permission in writing.

As a Federal Correctional Officer, I could work any other job without permission unless it was in law enforcement.

Child care is a job. Who was caring for their child(ren) during the hours they were working?
The demand is made too late. Working remotely during Covid, my employer required all personnel to track everything we did throughout the day, in table format, including how much time was spent on each task, and then email the completed table to HR at the end of the day. The total hours tabulated had to equal the hours of our paid workday. At this late hour, it would be impossible for federal employees to do this. This is just plain harassment and an attempt to push more people out the door by February 6.
And before anyone jumps all over my post, think about your own job. How would YOU prove you were not moonlighting four years ago?
I would be able to account for any other wage income reported to the IRS as to when those hours were worked. All the feds I know working from home had to work their hours during normal business hours, so you could easily prove that your other wage income was earned outside of normal business hours i.e. during a shift other than your government shift.
They made U.S.A. F. personnel do it in the early 80’s and we weren’t working remote. We were right there under their noses.
But if you did wrong and you know you did. You did wrong! Four years ago or four days ago. You can pretend not to remember or justify it in whatever manner you like. But you’re wrong. If you lose your job over it then be the grown up and own it. Don’t believe it’s ever too late to come back and do the right thing. Demand or not. 🤷🏼♂️

Trump administration rescinds memo on federal funding freeze for grants, loans
Several nonprofit organizations and states sued the Trump administration after the original memo was released on Tuesday.
Following widespread confusion, lawsuits and backlash, the Trump administration rescinded a memo that attempted to pause federal funding for grants and loan programs.
A memo to heads of executive government departments says, “OMB Memorandum M-25-13 is rescinded. If you have questions about implementing the President’s Executive Orders, please contact your agency General Counsel.”

The judge put an injunction on the memo…not the Executive Order…simple solution…rescind the memo…remove the reason for the injunction and the injunction goes away…the Executive Order remains in effect…and enforceable.

He rescinded the memo, from OMB, but NOT the original EO, it is still in place.
The judge or somebody’s lawyer just got a bit of an education about wording a complaint or order.

A federal judge said Wednesday he intends to issue a new block on President Donald Trump’s effort to freeze an enormous swath of federal spending, citing the White House’s contradictory signals about the policy.
U.S. District Judge John McConnell said a bid by the White House to rescind a “hugely ambiguous” order implementing the freeze appeared to be undercut by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s subsequent statement that the freeze was still in effect.
“I’m inclined to grant the restraining order,” McConnell, a Rhode Island-based appointee of President Barack Obama, said during a court hearing on a lawsuit brought Tuesday by Democratic attorneys general. “I fear … that the administration is acting with a distinction without a difference.”
A different federal judge has already put the spending freeze on hold. That judge, Loren AliKhan, issued an order Tuesday preserving the status quo for six days in response to a separate lawsuit from nonprofit groups challenging the freeze.
The White House tried to upend both lawsuits Wednesday by rescinding the original memo from the Trump administration’s budget office implementing the spending freeze. But the statements by Leavitt suggested that the freeze was still in effect — even if the memo describing it had been rescinded. That confusion, the judge said, suggested the harm caused by the original memo was still likely to occur.
“While the piece of paper may not exist, there’s sufficient evidence that the defendants collectively are acting consistent with that directive,” McConnell said, “and therefore the arguments that they have about needing a [restraining order] exist.”
However, McConnell acknowledged that the administration’s action Wednesday may complicate his efforts to issue an order blocking the policy. He has asked the states to propose language for an order.”

I don’t like the idea of a sales tax in general because it would suppress economic activity. But if there is to be a national sales tax I think it should be very minimal for basic needs type products and then go up for other , more discretionary, items.

Trump’s offense this time? Firing the federal prosecutors who worked for Jack Smith, the special counsel who spent years desperately trying to imprison Trump. The Times called the firings an “egregious violation of well-established laws.”
To be clear: Even if Smith had stayed within the lines in his chase, Trump would have every right to fire prosecutors who would be working to convict him even now had he not beaten Kamala Harris. No chief executive has to accept that kind of open opposition from his workers.
But Smith didn’t stay within the lines. What he did removes any doubt about Trump’s decision.

Trump has certainly polarized the world, not just in America. I lost a small side job today, setting some tile and fixing a couple of holes in walls, one cement the other drywall. No explanation, the manager refused to talk to me in person, if it was about cost I am sure she would have said so but the fact that she refused to even talk with me or give an explanation is what makes me think it was because of what is happening now.
Probably good it happened now than after you had completed the job; people with petty minds like that are usually the first to file a lawsuit for some imagined damage done while doing that job. Sorry that happened, but, prayers the door is opening to something even better.
