He gave the footage to Tucker who then covered up the facts. It was only later when someone else discovered a treasure trove of evidence.
IIRC, Tucker said they were given access to the Capitol tapes because they asked for it — seems other media outlets complained afterwards, but weren’t interested in seeing for themselves. Maybe they liked the narrative as-is…
Tucker said that it wasn’t like they handed him a bunch of tapes that he had in the trunk of his car. His people had to go to a special room to view the footage (maybe a SCIF?) and they viewed hundreds of hours of tape (they had to sift through a lot of tape in a short time to find anything useful, and they didn’t have access to facial recognition software, so it was harder to ID individuals), and they had to note which clips they wanted to use.
They followed Jacob Chansley, the QAnon Shaman, since he was easy to spot on the footage, and that’s how they revealed that he walked peacefully through the Capitol, with Capitol police escorting him to the House chambers, where he said a prayer for the police and the government, and left quietly.
Tucker showed the footage on his Fox show, and he had Jacob’s lawyer on — who said he had never seen those tapes before, and hadn’t been made aware that they existed — and that’s how Jacob was finally released. (It was just days later that they ended his sentence, though the DOJ claimed it had nothing to do with Tucker’s show…)
Tucker had footage of another guy hounded for months by the FBI, who just walked peacefully and curiously into the Capitol, was there for about 45 seconds when a policeman asked him to leave, which he did, peacefully. The guy had not had access to that footage prior to that, or been made aware of the exculpatory evidence.
Bottom line is that Tucker’s people got several good stories out of the tapes that resulted in helping a few wrongly accused J6ers. The tapes were not “given” to Tucker — his team was given access to view them in a specific location. As far as I know he didn’t cover up any facts — can you post a link saying that he did? In fact, Tucker was pretty outspoken about comparing the govt/media’s version of J6 with what the tapes showed. And it was shortly afterwards that Fox shut down his show and fired him.

He can easily be worse. McConnell is totally in his late life fog so he is at least totally predictable. Thune still thinks for himself and only time will tell us what actually makes him tick. So far, he is not getting in the way, but he will always have his finger in the air trying to see which way the wind is blowing. We always have to be careful not to become followers of this type of politician.

This is where improvement in our nation happens, at the grassroots level where the people take control of their own government. Don’t wait for a candidate to approach you. Approach any and everyone you believe would fulfill your requirements for the governor’s office and support them as a candidate. Do it now from a position of action, instead of having to react to choices made for you.

I’m pretty sure Trump made a deal with Thune so that Thune wouldn’t obstruct his cabinet nominees. It’s long been known that he wants to be governor, so I think Trump’s part of the deal was to nominate Noem and clear the decks for him. Thune’s term is up in January 2027, which coincides with the next election for governor of SD.
So you have a time period from November election to January 20 wasted. Why not have the nomination hearings scheduled for November and December with the requisite that no votes on any other motion can take place until the nomination process is complete?
New congress starts January 3. Don’t want the old Senate doing this.

On Inauguration Day, after speaking to supporters in Statuary Hall, Trump and Melania walked out to the limo. Several well wishers came over to say a word or two. Thune and his wife Kimberly (in the bright red coat) waited their turn then met with Trump behind the limo. By then, others had pretty much filtered away and Trump and Thune were left to speak with each other for a few seconds. The body language was good. Thune looked like a happy man.

As a former DHS employee under the TSA, I still receive emails from AFGE (government employee union) and as such I provided feedback that they should pressure US senators to confirm all Trump appointees ASAP for the following reason:
All rules and standards for government employee termination do not apply to Trump’s “acting” cabinet members. The terminations going on now would be reduced in rate and severity if those acting cabinet member are replaced with confirmed cabinet members.
I then asked them if they are interested in saving government jobs they should push the US senate to confirm more quickly. If they are more interested in “resisting” Trump, then this will be a disaster for AFGE union members.
Who knows what they will do.
