There have been thousands of people- ordinary people there helping. I saw 2 FEMA workers and they were 1 telling us to stop 2 getting in way by blocking roads 3 being cruel- telling people who had not taken a shower in a week that they couldn’t because they didn’t have flip flops. 2 weeks later FEMA had decided to stop being in the community and told people who had lost everything to come to them in town- 15 miles away. I have been in multiple disasters- including Katrina. This was the worst. Yes the real death numbers are much higher.
The people on the left are evil. They don’t care about the people in WNC because they are conservative and not wealthy.
Our president mentioned Franklin Graham and Samaritan ‘s Purse. I am continuing to send donations monthly. A high % of the $ is spent directly on those in need. It is an excellent, boots on the ground, charity. 👍🙏
I am a California teacher who is also “adopting” two “fire” families. Our school is funding & clothing (new clothes & gift cards to department stores– and other items on a long list for folks who lost everything).Several of the children are middle schoolers like my own students.💕

Your example is an example of the best result we have seen in NC. Local people (Friends and Neighbors) are the only help you can depend upon to rebuild your community. Government does little or nothing and in some cases they just create more problems. Your local trades people you will find are your BEST help. Right now you are probably looking for heavy equipment to help with cleanup. The government will be slow unless the National guard is present. Your waste will contaminate your soil so try to get as much of the plastic burn waste removed from your property before the Spring monsoons appear. Concentrate on where the plastic items were in your house and check the debris in that area.

Also a tiny home builder in Tennessee called Incredible Tiny Homes joined in partnership with Lowes and the owner shut down his production for homes that had already been presold. He got their customer’s permission before doing it and put his builders to work building 50 tiny homes which were donated.

I noticed in the videos of President Trump’s arrival in NC, our new governor was present at the foot of AF One’s stairs, but was ignored by PDJT (and by the cameras). He was also ignored in the video made at the EMT station, while Franklin Graham, Michael Whatley, Virginia Foxx and numerous others were recognized individually by name. Near the end, PDJT made a very brief mention of the “new” NC governor but did not mention his name (Josh Stein – D) and passed right by him without a look or a handshake, as far as I could tell, as he left the area. Also not mentioned was our recently retired governor (Cooper – D), who did little for the people of Western NC while he was still in office. As our mothers taught many of us, “If you don’t have anything good to say about somebody, just don’t say anything at all.” The mystery remains: Why does NC continue to elect Republican legislatures but Democrat governors??? My husband’s vote in NC was challenged as an illegal vote. He has voted for twenty years in the same location. I saw his name on a list of challenged votes. He had to get a new voter card, and we assume his vote did not count. No one could explain this to him.
Nasty NC former Governor Cooper didn’t care a wit about Helene victims. I haven’t seen or heard anything from the new Governor Stein.
He and his attorney general are part of a group of Democratic states contesting the new Trump Executive Order just written about Birther issue (Removing Birth citizenship for illegal immigrants). They are supporting that all immigrant babies born in the US are citizens and can bring their entire families to the USA.
I just moved to NC. The Republican party nominated the Worst possible candidate for governor. Name is Mark Robinson. I don’t know how he ever made it this far in politics or was never vetted. During the campaign the Dems ran ads of Robinson screaming– a woman cannot have an abortion for any reason. Said she only got in this predicament because she couldn’t keep her skirt down. Then another ad had him saying, sometimes people just need killing! All scenes were of him in person on camera saying these things. Had no chance in the election. Terrible work by the NC Republican party.

Damned if I know, but I will tell you that it was one hell of a wall of water that came out of the Nolichucky River gorge, and it came up FAST!

No it was caused by excess rain 5-6 days before the storm caused by a rare Fujiwara effect Low pressure system and associated Frontal interaction with the storm in the Eastern USA. With the early week rain we received in excess of 23 inches of rain in western NC in a week. Domino effect by Uprooted by mud slide and wind 100 year old trees with leaves caused Slope Mud collapse and damage to many houses. All of this mess went Down Hill into River valleys with the excess rain to literally change the path of the rivers.

You are correct. Many roads on slopes are gone via mudslides. Western NC has many geologic mud slide zones that slid many roads into rivers. SeaBees will have to reshape the side of mountain slopes to rebuild many roads. I certainly would not want to be responsible for using dynamite to create new flat areas on slopes to build roads. They are still working on I-26 mudslide area from heavy rains two years ago in trying to stabilize the slide zone area in Tryon NC. The area is till recording slippage according to sensors placed on top of the slide area.
They did after Katrina.

I recall the story of a man who was buried up to his neck in mud. When the rescue workers came to dig him out he said no. When ask why he said that his entire family was buried alive below him. Days before he felt his child alive, rubbing on his leg. That had since stopped.

Ft Bragg is the largest military base in close proximity to the flooding area, equipped with the personnel and equipment needed for search and rescue. Approximately 250 miles away. PDJT has promised to change the name back to Bragg…🙂

This morning Ben Berquam of Real America’s Voice was standing outside a hotel in NC. He reported that it was recently remodeled and houses illegal immigrants who also receive debit cards, driver’s license, health care, etc.
I believe he was standing in front of a hotel in Chicago, not NC. He was there covering the ICE raids. He was making the point that the hotel behind him was filled with illegals that were transported there, instead of transporting people of NC there to give them a place to stay and debit cards.

As I was listening to those victims, I was watching President Trump patiently compassionately listening to their stories.
I was thinking about all the international “important” people, who are impatiently waiting for a chance to speak to Donald Trump about their business interests. And yet there was President Trump listening to poor dispossessed victims of the storm and victims of government, talking about rescuing their little pug, putting dog food in garbage bags, seeing the neighbor stripped naked by the storm, giving a grateful victim a cup of coffee, fighting with their insurance company, being told by FEMA to fix a bridge and road themselves and then send the receipts, and other atrocities and indignities.
This is a great man to give voice to the voiceless.
That story about FEMA sending the letter to the family telling them they had to send receipts that the road and bridge was rebuilt before they could help is insane!

I live in Louisiana and have had the “pleasure” of working with FEMA for over 20 years. I said in 2005 that FEMA needs to be one honest man with a checkbook. What DJT says about FEMA getting in the way of real progress is spot on. Get rid of that bureaucracy and use the money it costs to support it to for actual repair and sustenance

It is really hard for me to watch the videos of and about NC anymore—It is just so sickening what our country has done to or rather not done for these good Americans just because the victims are mostly good middle class Christian people(not rich) and probably didn’t vote the Democratic ticket.
Like I said elsewhere I am so glad Trump made NC his first stop However I do wish the Trump take Hawaii off the back burner too.

Those smug a-holes at FEMA
That was one of the most touching and inspirational media events I have ever witnessed, hosted by President Trump giving the victims of North Carolina the opportunity to tell their stories. And the last two women especially gave the most powerful testimonials. One of them was a pastor who had just bought an enormous church building even though they have a small congregation, and then next week the storm hit.
She said people from all over the country sent supplies, trucked in supplies. And then her daughter spoke about the devastation and about the lack of help from FEMA and how FEMA required them to repair a bridge and repair a road and then send FEMA the receipts, and meanwhile FEMA wouldn’t help them with their own properties because they said there was no bridge to their community and no road.
She said the bridge itself was going to cost at least $300,000, and they did not have that money to fix it on their own nor did they have the equipment.
The a-holes at FEMA said fix it yourself and send us the receipts.
When you send them the receipts they deny the claims even though they told you via the media the first two weeks that supplies and equipment(chainsaws, generators,batteries) for recovery repairs, and property cleanup would be covered.
Oh the tears. That female pastor is talking about how a desolate, homeless woman sweetly asked for a cup of coffee after losing everything.

No one in the MSM/Legacy media/cable news ever put these people on their shows for an interview like they did during Hurricane Katrina.
Those people mean nothing to them, less than nothing because they are likely conservative voters.
I recorded and listened to WLOS, local Asheville noon news, to see how they covered the event. After posting a chart to show how many good things government has accomplished, they interviewed an artist from the River Arts district in Asheville.
The chart bragged about how only 186 roads still needed to be repaired/rebuilt. They did not mention that many of the roads which have been repaired or rebuilt were done so by volunteers from West Virginia, Amish from PA, road crews from Kentucky, or other hard working men and women from the area.
The artist complained about how much money was being spent for the President to come to the area and concluded that he should stay away.
The station complained that traffic might be snarled by his motorcade.
I concluded that this Asheville station does not have the backs of these good people we saw today.
Asheville is a far left, communist sinkhole. The surrounding region is the exact opposite.
The thought that those permanent bureaucrats in Washington DC would drag their feet to help these people, who are the BACKBONE of this country, just absolutely chokes me up that they’ve been forgotten. They aren’t glamorous, they don’t have a lot in material goods, but are the spirit and soul of America. Sorry – can’t say anymore – I’m choked up listening and my keyboard is gettin too wet from tears……..

The first family- how apropos- the citizens of WNC need to know that they are very much on the minds of Americans and our first family is there to reassure them. Classy and heartwarming. FEMA has been a failure and a barrier to progress. So this needs to be put under the purview of DoD engineers.
I really love how Melania joined and looks like she is enjoying this new presidency so far.
I was thinking about her this morning and realizing how this round will be so different for her: her son has graduated from high school and is into his advanced studies, not living at home any more. There’s a great shifting of gears that has happened. Last summer I wondered if she might just tell public demands to “take a hike”, but I think my concern was misplaced.
She was still anxious for Barron to be well-settled in his new school and then July 13 happened, which was devastating to all of them in ways we can’t grasp. I’m so glad she wasn’t trying to sustain public appearances during the campaign.
It does look as though she has made some decisions about things! Just to see her standing there quietly with POTUS, the people drinking in their presence to some extent, but feeling no compulsion to be over-awed: the people seem to KNOW that POTUS and Melania are there to “be with them”, and they accept it as such.
My heart was tugged by the dad holding his daughter close as he talked, and then shifting his jacket so it covered her legs a little better–I’m sure the wind has an edge to it today.
I am SO glad that POTUS went to NC first. Poke a stick in FEMA’s eye and let the impact of that drift along with the landing and conversations in California. Powerful to put the NC and CA ground action together in the same trip.
Melania seems to be a very different woman in this term. I think she knows the people love her. She also seems to be more at ease and supportive of PDJT. They make a beautiful 😍 couple..MAGA!!!

After withholding Secret Service from Jr. they can hardly complain when PDJT withdraws personal protective details from Fauci, Bolton and Pompeo.
And, after withholding Aid for Helene victims, for political reasons, for PDJT to out a political conditiin on aid to Cal is not innappropriate, especially since he is first highlighting how they mistreated, abused even, the Helene victims.

I hope she’s comfy. I’ve been in awe for years over her footwear choices. I have max 2 hours in heels much more sensible than hers, but she always seems to don those spikey spikes so effortlessly.

He’s a democrat. Blue city Asheville was the only one that got publicity from him. Fortunately, Samaritans Purse, the Cajun Navy and NC folks put info out on FB and the help came in from all over the US & even Canada for the small towns and communities across the NC & Tenn mountains as well as Asheville. The first couple of weeks, it was people with helicopters and small planes flying in basic supplies, performing rescues and flying those stranded out. Then came the mule teams who took supplies up and brought stranded people down. The outpouring of help from everyday people was, and continues to be, awesome. But even the blue media has nothing to report on help from our governor.
I love how President Trump allows the locals to tell treir heart wrenching stories.
The locals there in North CArolina have beem through so much pain and suffering .
They are truly great people and I love them so much as my fellow Americans .
What a despicable crime it was to deny people aid who lost everything in a flood. It might be lost on the public what destroyed people’s lives in this event. Poorly maintained dams failed with the rains that a hurricane brought. The same thing happened in New Orleans in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. The Army Corps of Engineers was responsible for the negligence that caused that catastrophe. I would guess they were also tasked with maintaining the dams that failed in the aftermath of hurricane Helene.
Actually none of the dams failed, though there was great concern that they might and evacuations were in place.

He met President Trump at the airport. Trump acknowledged him during his first press briefing. But he was MIA during Trump’s viewing of the devastation and the accounts given by people who suffered and are still suffering from the flooding disaster. Trump didn’t mention the governor once during that second briefing.
This was the most powerful media presentation I have seen. Period.

And what did we hear from these people whose lives have been upended and destroyed in the most profound ways?
Not just stories of how their own personal lives have been disrupted but, while in the depths of their personal misery, these selfless folks made it a point, took the time, to give a shout out to others who they saw as particularly heroic, more courageous than themselves, and others who they encountered who experienced worse than themselves.
Not a single one of those who spoke exhibited any [in my opinion justifiable] rage against those in positions of power and authority, they expressed only muted levels of disappointment and curiosity about why they have been left on their own.
This was both a shattering experience to hear these stories of personal devastation and uplifting to understand the powerful character of the people of Asheville, NC.

One of the blue and white 747s used as AF1 landed about5 min ago at LAX. It was not flying under the AF1 call sign, but air traffic control treated it like AF1 (stopped commercial traffic into the airport when it came in for landing).
The same plane flew out of DC this morning, landed in Asheville TN and then flew to LAX, so it is likely the plane that PDJT was on.
There is a blue and white 757 approaching LAX with the call sign SAM894 (Special Air Mission 894), currently about 150 miles out. It flew directly from DC. This plane is often used as AF2.
I tracked the flights with ADSB Exchange. I was hoping to see the AF1 call sign for the first time in 4 years.
