What people need to understand is many of these “non-violent drug offenders” were arrested and charged with all sorts of crimes like gun possession, for example. Prosecutors looking for easy victories to pad their conviction states eagerly allowed these defendants to deal away the violent charges in exchange for heavy sentences for their “non-violent” crimes like possession with intent to sell.

A pardon doesn’t prevent an individual from being subpoenaed and being compelled to testify on their own actions. In fact, they cannot plead the 5th anymore as they are immune from prosecution.
