The scoop is….It takes only one Senator to object to the unanimous consent that the Senate remain in session and not go into official recess, but then it takes a full vote of senators whether or not to go actually go into recess.
In order to go into recess must also be agreed upon with the House in most cases.

I’m one of those people who use the library frequently. My local system has deteriorated somewhat, due to budget cuts and woke changes to its purpose. I think library science must be one of the areas that the commies have infiltrated.
Recently our system has switched over to a new website. The old one was fine, it could have used a few tweaks maybe, but I don’t want to appear to be one of those older folks who hate anything newfangled, but it surprised me that they made this major change that didn’t seem to be a priority, when they have had to cut staff and hours.
It took a lot of time and trouble to get up and running, and now that its here, it is so awful that there is a video tutorial on how to use it, and even a class you can come in for.
I was whining to someone who cared about why the couldn’t have just let well enough alone, and she commiserated with me over her library having made their website a “Hellscape”.
Oh, so this isn’t something going on just where I live? The point of the change was supposedly to be part of some gigantic database or something, I really couldn’t see the benefit to my community.
After finding out that something similar has happened elsewhere, it finally clicked with me, what might really be going on.

Agree too many librarians are openly leftist. However, I think conservatives deserve some of the blame (as we do for the K-12 educational system). One thing I’ve done is request the library allocate part of their budget to buying books from conservative authors (including providing the title, author and ISBN number). This is especially effective near the end of the year when the libraries are seeking to use unallocated funds. I also support a library in a nearby conservative town with my gentle used books from conservative authors and conservative publications (e.g., Judicial Watch newsletters). I also signed the library up for Hillsdale College’s excellent (free) publication Imprimis.

Public Libraries have been deteriorating for a few decades now.
It started in the Blue Cities. Pushing progressive nonsense like Drag Story Hour.
Seattle had some back in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. I remember thinking at the time that it was odd that no parents were protesting that.
Took a couple decades for the protests to even start, and by that time it had taken over so many libraries.
Also, remember all the Conservative speakers who were denied access to their PL’s for events over the past decade. Meanwhile any lefty nutcase could hold an event at the same PL.
The other thing that started to kill the libraries….allowing homeless to stay there all day….. it would be common to have 20 or more homeless just sitting around, sitting/sleeping, talking to themselves… not using the library, just hanging out or keeping warm … not safe for children or older people anymore.
Lots of librarians left the job,,, they were afraid and were not able to ask/tell the homeless to leave.

Considering how often the west has “negotiated” some treaty with Russia and then subsequently broken or refused to honor or enforce that treaty….most recently the Minsk Accords 1 and 2, Russia will be really hesitant about any peace that has no long-term enforceable national security for Russia or for Russian citizens who live within the borders of other countries.
The moves and possibilities that I’m seeing attributed to the Trump team look like they will be headed for a complete failure. One possibility is more sanctions on Russia. Another is a ceasefire line that will be enforced by western soldiers and western weapons which will allow Ukraine to re-arm, carry out terrorist activities in Russia, and eventually end up in NATO and the EU while Ukraine property becomes the property of western multinational corporations who have been buying it up. Any of those actions will be futile in any permanent solution of national security for Ukraine or for Russia.

In New York City a response by the NYFD would take 4 minutes not 45 minutes!
On top of that, the NYFD actually inspects the fire hydrants on a routine basis opening each hydrant and checking the water pressure. The LGBTQ2+ LA Fire Chief said that making sure the fire hydrants worked was not the job of the fire department!
And apparently don’t even check the Reservoir to make sure it’s actually got water!
Honestly, just thinking on respose time in a city setting versus response time in wild fires in the more open, less concentrated setting in CA seems very different. It seems logical getting to a wild fire in the hills, hiking in or dragging equipment, full of brush and dry vegetation would take longer and be much harder. Not being a firefighter I’m just looking at it from as logical a point as I can, but timing of the two settings doesn’t seem very similar at all.
Because of the level 5 fire danger warning there should have been trucks already in those areas but LAFD Chief was worried about overtime pay.
I will again address this:
The video doesn’t prove anything.
The FD can respond to and be “at scene” of the fire, but not be able to make access to put water on.
I have been first due to fires with rapid rates of spread, you can do only so much with 500 gallons of water (standard carried on most fire engines).
I don’t know if this is the case, but it’s even said that the fire was on the ridge line – it takes time to hike into the fire doing a progressive hose lay.
It’s very apparent the first helicopter drop wasn’t for 30+ minutes but that doesn’t mean anything, it wasn’t a “delayed” response.
What was her 9-1-1 report? Did she say we see some smoke on the ridge? That wouldn’t necessarily indicate a wild land fire requiring full aircraft to be dispatched. There’s a few minute time lapse between 9-1-1 call (you have to extract information from caller) and units being dispatched. They need to get into fire engines and respond. Say this is 7 minutes from fir station, that puts them 10 to 12 minutes from 9-1-1 call to arriving at scene and determining exactly what is burning along with the potential. They probably then requested a helicopter, its need to be dispatched, startup and fly to the location. All in-line with the video. Nothing unusual. Not “delayed”.
This is where AI can prove valuable. Cameras could be focused on a hillside and alert of a fire, dispatcher could see the video feed and enhance the initial dispatch. You could triangulate the exact location and height with 4 cameras, factor in weather, brush conditions (we actually go out and measure moisture levels in different fuels (1 hour, 10 hour etc) with topography maps. Given all that information the initial
dispatch would’ve probably been 50+ engines to various locations. No fire department, to my knowledge, does that. Thanks to FAA rules unmanned drones would be out of the question – quick flight time to the area to survey exact location and extent of the fire.
I’m confident the dispatch logs will prove me 85 to 95% correct. I was a fire captain for 8 years and spend over 20 years in the fire service in So cal before being injured on-duty resulting in a medical retirement. I know what I’m talking about. A lawyer doesn’t.
I believe the eyewitness (A US Attorney) who took the video and his wife who called 911. I believe the Fire Captain who broke down in tears…. who warned what would happen when they cut their budget.
Also, perhaps your Company was not as badly managed/underfunded as the LAFD. Or is that where you worked?

I briefly heard an interview with the HFC Chairman earlier, and he was talking about the tax bill and that it would take at least six months to negotiate. They want a hike in Corporate taxes to offset raising the limit for SALT deductions.
I guess they just refuse to understand that putting the two reconciliation bills into one bill would ensure that it is more likely to pass because each has stuff that most people want etc etc.

Went to the $1.25 store today to grab some treats for our inauguration party on Monday.
I like to walk around and see if they’ve gotten anything interesting in, since they sometimes get in one-time items that would sell for a lot more $ in other stores.
While walking down the pet isle I saw a bottle labeled, “EverRoot Hip & Joint” and wondered what it was. The bottles looked out of place, so I picked one up to check it out.
It is a dog supplement.
The supplement contained salmon oil and was non-GMO verified, and the active ingredient list was wild caught Alaskan salmon oil, wild caught Alaskan Cod liver oil, omega-3 fatty acids, green lipped mussel and vitamin E. All other ingredients were organic oils, butters and fruit powders.
After seeing the ingredients and knowing the 16 oz bottle would only cost me $1.25, I grabbed both bottles.*
I noticed warnings on the bottle, “For animal use only” was the first warning and, ‘keep out of reach of children and animals’ being the second.
Hhhhmmmm. Really?
When I got home I searched and searched the Internet using many different words and many different ways to ask what was essentially the same question, ‘Is it dangerous for humans to take dog vitamins?’
Page after page after page came up, and never once was my question addressed in any way.
Instead my question was repeatedly changed and the responses always had to do with ‘Is it safe to give my dog human vitamins?’
With the results I got — meaning the results I did not get — I’m guessing this oil is safe for human consumption.
*Lowest I found to buy one of these bottles online was $29 and change.
It might be that
1. it was not be made in a human-consumption-grade hygienic environment.
2. They may use parts of the salmon and mussels people don’t eat. Or even old salmon and mussels.
3. The ingredients may be stored in less ideal conditions.
4. Just because it is natural, it may not be safe. My dogs will eat anything on the ground if I am not fast enough to catch them-like licking dead birds. Hygiene is not their strength. They seem to weather it better than I would.

Georgia House Speaker arrested Georgia State Senator for daring to be at the Georgia State Capitol. It’s impossible to understand why such attendance would lead to an arrest. Don’t know the charge but this wasn’t for breaking any state’s laws as far as I can tell.
These Democrats are DESPICABLE!
They are desperately trying to destroy Trump’s triumphant return. They mucked up the cease fire (apparently there may not actually be one?) and prisoner release just to try to steal thunder from Trump when they could have done this HOW long ago? Fani Willis has not only completely lost every bit of her cases against Trump, but she has been ordered to PAY for a wide range of things connected to it all.

He claimed that a former Speaker was corrupt during an effort to rename a building in his honor… in presence of the family (Ralston). The current Speaker then ejected him from the Capitol and banned him from ever attending again. Oh, he also claimed that there was trafficking going on at ATL.

Negotiations in the long-winded case ratcheted up on Monday, a day after President-elect Trump posted “SAVE RUDY!!!” on Truth Social sending a flurry of donations to Giuliani’s fundraiser.
“Negotiations over the last 72 hours have been very extensive, going past midnight on most nights,” Giuliani’s lawyer, Joseph Cammarrata, told reporters outside court.
In the days following Trump’s public show of support, Giuliani’s online defense fund raised $169,000 — a far cry, however, from the $148 million he owed to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, the two workers he was found liable of defaming.
Cammarrata refused to answer when asked whether anyone had stepped up to help Giuliani pay the settlement sum.
“I’m not going to answer that question, it’s irrelevant,” he claimed.

Giuliani did NOT defame these two women when he pointed out that they did what they did and they did it on video. His case should have been completely dismissed on Appeal. But with a settlement now it never will be.
Of course Ruby’s attorneys knew that or they wouldn’t have negotiated a settlement for anything less than the utterly ridiculous $148 Million awarded by a highly partisan jury.
The whole thing is infuriating.
The thing is, Rudy is 80 yrs old. They were taking EVERY SINGLE THING he owned, including his home. He had zero money because his bank account was frozen, something happened to his social security (he claimed it had been stopped). So, for him, right this minute, this was a good thing to happen. He couldn’t go on and was under threat of being thrown in jail because he wasn’t turning over his property quick enough.
He also couldn’t pay his lawyers.
He will always have his good name, because America knows he is the man who saved NY.
We also know that he was telling the truth. But because of Beryl Howell in DC, he never got a chance to plead his case. She entered a default judgement because he couldn’t turn over certain records because the FBI had seized his electronics.
I am sure he is happy that it is all over with.
