Critical ocean current has not declined in the last 60 years, AMOC study finds

While a decline of the AMOC would have grave consequences, a collapse would be truly catastrophic.
In a new paper published in Nature Communications, scientists found that the AMOC has not declined in the last 60 years.
Their findings contrast with previous work, notably a paper from 2018 cited in their study, which reported that the AMOC has declined over the last 70 years. This past work relied on sea surface temperature measurements to understand how the AMOC has changed, but “we’ve learned that sea surface temperature doesn’t work as well as initially thought,” said Terhaar, who began leading this study at WHOI as a postdoctoral scientist and completed the work in Bern.

Those who do believe that humans are driving climate change retort that the science is “settled” and those who don’t agree are “deniers” and “flat-earthers.” Even the president mocks anyone who disagrees.
But I have been doing this for a long time, and the one thing I have learned is how hard it is to convince people with a computer model. The vast majority of your audience will never, ever understand the math behind it. This does not mean people are dumb. They usually have great BS detectors, and when they see one side of a debate trying to shut down the other side, they will most likely assume it has something to hide, has the weaker argument, or both.
Eventually I got out of the environmental consulting business. In the 1990s I went into a completely different industry, one that was also data intensive and I thought couldn’t be nearly as controversial: health care. But that’s another story.
And economic modeling is just as bad if not worse.
It’s a case of simplistic GARBAGE economic theory being used to create simplistic GARBAGE economic modeling software fed with insufficiently granular, GARBAGE economic data manipulated for political reasons.
That creates the bubble/bust results we experience which is advantageous to the wealthy in a two steps forward (bubble), one step back (bust) process where REAL assets (not fiat currency) can be obtained at fire sale prices (using fiat currency) during the bust. I once had a link to a graph obviously showing this, but I’ve lost it and for perhaps obvious reasons its an uncommon graph.

However, that is irrelevant in this case because it was a simple question asking for the measured change in CO2 over the past 60 years and not WHY that occurred or what the possible effects of it may be.
What it DID show was that a nearly 1/3 rise in CO2 had no effect on one of claimed catastrophic tipping points.
One thing you don’t hear much about, but is a known problem – not just the human biased garbage input data issue but the growing problem of AI generated output being used as INPUT data = garbage SQUARED.

Here’s the scenario :

Each one of these 1600 (or so) cases should be looked at individually, as the President has stated, specifically for civil rights violations, excessive sentencing, mistreatment while imprisoned, denial of medical care, inadequate food, and other abuses.
