Despite my reservations about Mike Waltz, this is the best approach.
During an interview with Breitbart News, incoming National Security Advisor Mike Waltz says the entire National Security Council is going to be removed from position and new staff assigned to the NSC. Every member is expected by the Trump administration to willingly resign at 12:01pm on inauguration day.
This is very much needed because the NSC is a petri dish for political manipulation of intelligence and policy depending on the ideological alignment with the NSC member. We have talked about this issue at length. The various silos of the DC intelligence and policy institutions send and embed ideologues in the NSC to represent their interests. The only way to deal with it correctly is to remove all of them and vet their replacements.

These career intelligence officials come from places as wide-ranging as the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, the Pentagon, and other law enforcement and intelligence agencies, and report up to the political appointees atop each major portfolio in the NSC.
The NSC has various issue-specific portfolios like counterterrorism and cyber policy as well as regional portfolios focused on things like the western hemisphere or the Middle East or Europe or Asia. The detailees then help coordinate back to the various agencies and departments so the whole federal government executes on the decisions that the president makes.

Waltz was one of Trump’s first personnel announcements right after he won the presidential election, and since the National Security Advisor position does not require confirmation in the U.S. Senate, he has been one of the most vocal and public figures among the incoming Trump administration since then.
Other folks who are slated for Cabinet positions need confirmation by the Senate before they start regularly engaging publicly with the media, so Waltz and a few others have filled the void in the meantime. But most importantly, Waltz is fighting to get the right team in place at the NSC so Trump is ready to roll on day one, and added there has been “zero issue” in so doing. (read more)

ountryClassic–I certainly understand your sentiment, but I tend to think that January 20, 12:01pm may be a bloodbath when it comes to the initial shake-up of the Deep State. (All you spooks that monitor this site, I mean that FIGURATIVELY). Announcing this may be a way to spread it out over time, making it seem less vindictive to the TDSers and Never-Trumpers out there (though it is FULLY right and legal to do) instead of it happening in one fell swoop. Too bad we have to do some catering to the deranged and the kindergarteners among us, but that is the way it has to be.
Just a theory; I have no insight either way. I DO like that the NSC is going to be totally cleaned out.

They may “seem to be in alignment” but certainly be wary of Trojan Horses and as President Reagan said, “Trust but Verify”. This most certainly applies to any and all new hires.
I still haven’t heard anything about the Head of Secret Service. Personally, I think that might be the most crucial job in this new administration.
I agree, except in this case, their termination is less than 2 weeks away, which means they have been notified, which means an official announcement needs to precede a fake-news sob story spin.

I would include all the individuals who were political appointees but had their positions transitioned to Civil Service when the President’s term ended (Obama was notorious for that). An efficient way to politicize Civil Service since these new positions were always at the top of the agencies so victimized.

Important Safety Tip: Some of these DS-folk go back to the Clinton era and only stayed on because the GWB administration decided not to flush and replace the Clinton appointees (“…a new tone in Washington DC”) before his inauguration in 2001. Naturally, the Clintonistas would have stayed on through the O-bummer years and discretely dug in, under Trump 1.0. That’s now a 20+ year career, cuz’ tenure, or something.
This is the reason PDJT and Co. need the equivalent of heavy equipment and blasting, vs. pick and shovel: Rip it out by the roots and flush with serious cleaning agents. And be very careful of whatever gets re-used.
It will be interesting to see if the majority of the new staffing are majority from the same tribe like the other nominations/appointments that have been made.
That will be telling regarding whether we can save the country or continue on the same death spiral.

Why fire individuals when they should fire entire departments. Shut down entire departments and agencies or else move the whole department to Peoria or Pascagoula. (The department function, not necessarily the people.)

One Day 1, DJT should immediately revoke the clearances of the notorious 51 intelligence officers who signed the collusion letter to undermine him. Then, he should review others who don’t have a need to know.

I would have preferred Mike didn’t give them notice. Now they have 2 weeks to cover up all their racketeering schemes, or worse. It would have been better to just lower the boom unexpectedly and walk them out of their offices, as is standard in the corporate world now. It seems inhumane to lay people off this way, but unfortunately there are many disgruntled employees that can seek revenge when they get laid off. In this case we can probably assume most of the embedded swamp NSC fits into the “Disgruntled Employee” category and probably all hate Trump, so the risk of them sabotaging him is very high. For those who may not fit into that category, perhaps they can reapply for their jobs and be vetted properly to make sure they are not a part of the Sabotage USAEnemy Within?
