I would argue that Congress doesn’t have the constitutional power to expand via delegation one president’s discretionary authority in derogation of a successor president’s authority. While Congress itself might have the power to outright ban development on the continental shelf, it has to itself either do it or not do it.
Clearly Congress did not enact a law regarding development here, didn’t care one way or another. So this goes solely to delegating legislative authority to the president.

I am simplifying, but this is the reason for him calling to have the debt ceiling raised. You just can’t do those things at exactly the same time and he will enter the office with few options to tackle border security and “deportation” unless he has the immediate access to funds. “Britain” as a polity and or nation does not, I repeat, does not exist at this time. It hasn’t for about 30 years. FULL STOP!

I think one thing, at least in NYC where I was living during their heydey, that ruined the whole model was the breakdown of rule of law (like most things that have been ruined around this nation). Once homeless and crazy people were allowed to harass customers, destroy bathrooms (and shower in their sinks, create incredibly unsanitary conditions in there) and generally make the place undesirable to normal folks they were down to one knee.
Add in finding the most bizarre people on earth to be the staff to get in your face or just be their weird selves (with no decorum expected as employees), and then making their menu way too big and based on sugary and ice-cream drinks which take forever to make and thus slowing down service times to extremes, you have a failed model.
The coffee always seems to have a burned taste – like coffee that has been percolated on the stove hours ago – all the other jazz they put in seems to be for the purpose of obscuring that burned taste.

Every honest person knows the J6 cases were not only the product of outrageous and unethical prosecutorial overreach, but were accomplished by deliberately concealing exculpatory evidence from the defendants.
Rather than President Trump pardoning them “On Day One” in what will be historically (and unfortunately) be portrayed as a political move, wouldn’t it be better if AG Bondi declared that this entire effort by the DOJ was an exercise in prosecutorial misconduct orchestrated by Biden, Garland, Wray et. al. which would void any immunity claims they might have and PERSONALLY subject them to civil action $$$ by the J6 victims?
Trump could commute all existing sentences on day one and Bondi could still do what I suggested above, sending a message to those who think they can get away with this crap again in the future.

Attorney General Todd Rokita is partnering with 15 states and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to challenge new radical energy standards that will make the American Dream of homeownership unattainable for many hardworking Hoosier families.
According to the NAHB, new standards from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) can add up to $31,000 to the price of a new home and take up to 90 years for a home buyer to realize a payback on the added cost of the home. For every $1,000 increase in the median price, more than 100,000 American households are priced-out of being able to buy that home.
Even the agencies concede that by requiring all HUD- and USDA-financed new single-family home construction to meet the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and ASHRAE 90.1-2019, they will drive down production of affordable housing at a time when low and middle-class families are finding homeownership out of reach.
“As a conservative, I love efficiency and would note that one cannot be a true ‘conservative’ without being willing to ‘conserve’ God’s green earth. But over-regulation, that doesn’t yield meaningful results and comes with wild costs, is a bad deal that common sense Hoosiers should reject,” Attorney General Rokita said. “In their name, we are rejecting this latest liberal crackpot whim with this lawsuit that if successful will help keep already terrible home ownership and rental costs from going through the roof. We’re seeing it more and more. We will continue standing up for homeowners and renters and fighting back against federal overreach.”
Attorney General Rokita thanked the Indiana Builders’ Association (IBA) for bringing this issue to his office. Rick Wajda, CEO of the IBA, said this ill-conceived policy will act as a deterrent to new construction at a time when Indiana and the nation desperately needs to boost its housing supply to lower shelter inflation costs. It is also in direct conflict with the current energy codes in the majority of jurisdictions around the country.
“At a time when Hoosiers are struggling to qualify for a mortgage or make a rent payment, this federal policy is the last thing our potential customers need,” Wajda said. “For every $1,000 increase in the cost of a house in Indiana, over 1,900 Hoosier households are priced out of the market. We need to reduce barriers to housing, not increase them. The Indiana Builders Association appreciates the efforts of Attorney General Rokita to stop these onerous costs being put on Hoosier homebuyers and renters.”
