I saw a china youtube video where it showcased all the manned drone cars and helicopers, motor bikes that can fly and then reattach to car/motorbikes. China probably did a demo at one of our military bases for a month. Now our Country too might have been testing these type drones . But drones got an upgrade it seems.

I am now and have always been a big time car and motorcycle enthusiast. I remember people wishing for 100 mpg carburetors and flying cars. I don’t remember anyone wishing for self driving cars unless, and ONLY unless, it was for utilizing on an interstate. You get on I-95 in NJ, fall asleep, and wake up in Florida. (I never heard the refilling issue mentioned?)
No one wanted a self driving car to drive around town, ever.

I have never seen the attraction, either.
I vividly recall a dystopian sci fi short story I read in middle school circa 1988, maybe Asimov, about a future of automated self driving cars.
The protagonists were running from cops, because they had disabled their limiters and were driving “manual” on the highway. The world had grown clockwork, hyper efficient, and there was no room for the chaos of individualism. It was safer to let the computer take you where you want to go in an integrated network of cars traveling in lockstep, like meshed gears.
Our rebels in the story just wanted to be able to drive down a highway, in a very 1950s feeling of open road travel. And the warning of the story was we may lose that in our race towards computerized everything.
Asimov or Bradbury, maybe … I vaguely remember the story but not the author.
Similar to one that I read where everybody “teleported” everywhere. One student zapping home from school said that the next code on the machine wasn’t for her house. The story-line being that one student had escaped through an entirely-unused thing called a door to a place where nobody ever went: outside.

I hope whoever sold you the re-manufactured engine also installed it. Having someone different install it might lead to warranty problems later on when something goes wrong and the re-manufacturer tries to claim it’s because of something the mechanic did. Or … the mechanic screws up and tries to blame the re-manufacturer? Either way, you’re stuck in the middle. I run across this when customers want me to install new flooring on underlayment someone else installed. Nope!

We have no real news agencies left in the Puget Sound region, unfortunately! A handful of TV reporters that are competent are still hanging on from the 80s and 90s but they are dwindling quickly.

Why is a train hanging from a suspended rail better than one riding on top of a rail?
I didn’t watch, but I would hazard a guess that the wheels aren’t merely on top, but additional wheels around the circumference prevent it from coming off of the rail, whereas standard rail wheels simply sit on top and hope that Joe Biden isn’t running the show.
The same wheel configuration could exist whether the train is suspended, on top, or even hanging off the side of a rail. No matter where are how many wheels, if joebama is running it, disastrous failure is eminent.
Interestingly, a train’s wheel is not a perfect cylinder, but actually slightly cone shaped. This lets the train sit and roll between rails that might be slightly out of alignment, and for better curve/turns. The weight of the train helps settle it between the track with less wobble.
Monorail track is actually a trapezoid, which again lets a train settle downwards with gravity for stability. Balancing on a perfect rectangle would make the top wobble like an inverted pendulum, and making turns would be difficult. You need the train cars to be bottom heavy to reduce tilt, which is where the motors and tires sit anyways, so the system self corrects.
Hanging from a track would be like a ski lift, you’d tilt off the center of mass depending where passengers sit. A chain pull (like a Disney omnimover) could work, but like a ski lift, any disruption and the whole thing has to pause. Fancier gondolas have clutches to unhook at stations, but you have to send a lot of empty cars to keep them from stacking up, which makes the entire system use more energy, which increases costs. You can at least turn a car off when it’s not in use.
So if the hanging cars on a rail are independently powered, you have to throw the drive assembly above the passengers. At that point, if you balance all the motor weight above the rail, the car could tilt, or flip in an accident if it loses stability. So you need all the motor weight under the rail, maybe under the seats, which means a transmission system (chains? Belts?) going around the passengers. That’s not very efficient from a motor perspective. And you have the same parking issues at the stations.
The china video said it was suspended so people didn’t have to wait in heavy work situations where the roads are standing still below. In the video each train held 200 people.
I know some people just saw the train segment, but the flying drones are pretty interesting , so skip ahead. It said when car-drone detachs from car, the car goes to next charging station so when the car-drone reattaches to car, it gets fast 5 minute charge and up it goes again.
The motorcycle segment is cool, like a batman device.
I was just posting the China Video to give possible explaination to the New Jersey Drone month where car sized drones seemed to be flying, and lots of them in air. The government didn’t say anything about them. So something like the drones in that China video seemed to be possible answer.
A drone carrying a charged battery needs a lot of energy to carry the payload. And EV batteries are heavy, about 25% of total weight (1000 lb in a 2 ton car). So you can’t carry that much on a drone, so you aren’t carrying a “full charge” worth of batteries every drone trip. A large commercial drone can only carry about 50lb max. So you need multiple drone trips (20?) to fill an EV, so maybe this is just for emergency trickle refill to get you to a charging station, like the proverbial gas can walk?
So, what is fueling the drone, gasoline? That kills the environmental benefit of driving the EV in the first place. Which means you are carrying the extra weight of the gas in your EV. Might as well have gotten a gas/elec hybrid and eliminated all of that range anxiety at the start, no drones needed.
I seem to remember utopian ideas like that being everywhere in the 1970’s. You’d just pull your helicopter out of the garage and Daddy would fly to work with his tie in perfect place.
But as for me, I refuse to be humiliated in front of Saint Peter when I must confess that I just been taken out by a robot – either mine or somebody else’s. 🤡

Hi Aggiegirl !! In my earlier and healthier years I used to run. I ran 10 half marathons, but I never had the desire to run in a full marathon, not even the Boston Marathon (I grew up just north of Boston). I was a spectator near the finish line at Boston for years, but stopped going after the Tsarnaev’s bombed it.
I did, however want to run the Mount Washington road race. Eight miles, straight uphill. In fact, their motto has been “We only have one hill”. I finally did it, which means I was crazier than most. I’ve known several people over the years who have all run at least one marathon….yet no one….NO ONE… wanted to run the Mount Washington with me.
The views were beyond spectacular, the weather was summer at the start, down at the bottom, and winter when we finished the race at the peak, where the Observatory is. We literally ran up into and above the clouds.
As crazy as people thought I was for doing that one race….the people at the Observatory, especially the ones up there this time of year….have GOT to be a very special kind of crazy to work up there.
But it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment for me. Thank you so very much for posting this video and letting me re-live one of the best moments, God-blessed and nature-wise, I have had in my life !!!

The “Iron Man” competition – a crazy combination of a one-mile swim, a hundred-mile bike ride, and a marathon, all in one day – is held in our area. Some people choose to complete only one or two segments. But you can still get a “braggin’ rights” T-shirt. It’s never been something that I wanted to subject my body to, but it’s fun to watch. (The bike course runs right by our driveway. You watch all those bikes and think, “$1,000+ each.”)
I think Mt. Washington is where my daughter and her family go skiing!
I walked up some scenic trails at Mt. Rainer one time but it was nowhere near 8 miles. Congrats on your accomplishment!

Here in the South we have had the “Three Mountains Challenge.” You can bike it all, or run part of it. There are three prominent mountains in the area, and the course takes you up and down all three. (Think Civil War: “The Battle Above the Clouds.” Those mountains and ridges.) I volunteered at a water station but never had any inclination to participate. (Several of my friends did, and did well.)

For about 6-7 years, I participated in the B.U.M.Ps cycling hill climb series, all of the major climbs in New England (+ Whiteface Mtn in Adirondacks). I completed all except Mt. Washington as the entry fee, practice ride (necessary) and 2 weekends overnight stay made it cost prohibitive.
Mt. Ascutney and Burke Mountain were brutal climbs.
Those days are behind me, though the experiences were something that needed to be excised during my mid life crisis years.

The Appalachian Trail goes over the mountain, but a well-used “blue trail” segment goes around it.

The settlement resolves the department’s determination that Navajo Express violated the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) by discriminating against non-U.S. citizen workers when checking their permission to work in the United States.
“When employers reject workers’ valid [NO, “reasonably appears on its face to be genuine” – W] documentation proving their permission to work and demand other types of documentation, they construct unnecessary hurdles that can mean the difference between a worker getting a job or not,” said Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “The Justice Department will continue to hold employers accountable for discriminating against workers because of citizenship, immigration status or national origin.”
In other words, checking that the APPEARS to be valid documentation which COULD be fraudulent IS in fact NOT fraudulent is VERBOTEN! In other words, “two forms of ID” is NOT permissible to request from aliens, just from YOU.

So, DONALD, don’t know about this? Maybe get on it THIS time. But he won’t because as stated in a recent article I posted elsewhere here today, just to give one example, in many areas about 50% of construction workers are illegals.
As an anecdote from years ago, I know of a military SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility – i.e. ultra-security) where construction was halted when it was discovered that, wait for it, 50% of the construction crew were illegals.
After employer sanctions was made law, the first two years was an “educating employers” phase. After this phase Border Patrol Agents began sending “letters of arrested aliens” to employers (based on employment documents or admissions). They also began I-9 inspections. Agents began doing sanctions cases successfully based on employers rehiring of previously arrested and aliens. One case in Dallas resulted in an almost 1 million dollars fine (my best recollection).
Due to the success of these cases Border Patrol stations were ordered to cease any employer sanctions assignments. The work was given exclusively to INS investigations by policy (not law). Essentially the cases died on the vine by design.
Also, Border Patrol interior stations that did farm and ranch check began shutting down. This was due to the same 1986 Immigration Reform, that prohibited Agents entering agricultural operations under the open fields’ doctrine (previously allowed via court decisions.
Also with the Patriot Act, Border Patrol lost their air wing and 1811 Alien Smuggling investigator positions. These duties were outsourced to other components with competing priorities. Criminal Alien assignments were also ceased and outsourced. With predictable results. They are 7 times larger, but the increase has not produced what we paid for (return on investment).
Failure by design.

– No more bankruptcy exemption. Force lenders to underwrite both students and programs or run the risk of a bankruptcy filing after graduation that causes the lender to eat the balance.
– Ban co-signers on such loans as void due to public policy. No, Mom and/or Dad do not get stuck if you can’t pay post-graduation.
The amount charged for a perceived as needed “product” or “service,” in this case a so-called “education,” will rise to the cost the customers can bear. Imagine that, otherwise known as “basic economics.”

I personally know people who took the “right” courses at school, and could not get ahead financially because the cost of housing where the jobs were was so high (due to government finagling) and they also could not advance in their careers due to DEI and I’m also just finding out the extent to which the various H1B scams harmed them.

In any event, upon further reading and looking back on the horrific history of the Muslim gang rapes of many thousands of poor white girls and boys, I have done a complete 180 and am coming around to agree with Elon. What was done to these CHILDREN by the Muslim scum that apparently runs the UK is beyond the comprehension of a civilized human being. You literally would not treat an animal the way these girls were treated.
