Johnson will prove to be more of an obstacle than an asset. On that, anyone with a modicum of common sense would probably agree. But the political realities are supposed to create obstacles for the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive branches as this divides the power into enough places to keep any one person from having too much control over outcomes, which is the basic definition of power.
Trump needs this guy to get anything done in the Legislative Branch. He has no choice because the Demcommies will vote in unison with Hakim Jeffries, who is their chosen leader. In that scenario, and with a one vote margin of error, the Repugs must vote in unison for Johnson. The MAGA contingent, who are nowhere close to a majority, must take what they can get ALL of the Repugs to vote for. That choice includes Johnson and two years ago it was proven that is the only choice.
Our job will be to convince Johnson that Trump’s agenda is all he can support because if he doesn’t, many will not see the difference between him and the obviously Communist supporter of Islam and DEI alternative, the Demcommie Minority Leader. Maybe someone from outside of Congress can be chosen, but Sundance might be the only outsider I might trust to try to do that job. Now I am sure we know we are reaching for an absurd result unless we can’t just count on Trump to point Johnson repeatedly in the MAGA direction.
The threat of a veto is a very good option for Trump and I am sure he can use that to get what he wants in just about any bill the Repugs have to pass. This time Trump will have a lot of allies pushing his agenda in the Bureaucratic State as well as in his Cabinet and among his closest advisors. That is all you and I can count on, so I suggest we do that which we can do, and start by preparing for the 2026 Legislative elections. Maybe we will get a better choice for Speaker out of it.
We had better start gathering $$$ NOW to support good candidates for Congress, because for sure, they will need it.
The time to have this fight over the speakership was long ago not 17 days before PT’s inauguration (assuming he is inaugurated).

The time started well before Election Day. The time for deciding the 2026 Speaker is today: by finding, campaigning for/running, and talking to everyone you know about the mid-term primaries.

We need to start right now, advancing candidates for PARTY offices, specifically for the State Republican Party Executive committe positions, some of which will come up in 2026 for election/reelections, held at County and State Party conventions.
Unlike elections for Public Officials, there are no “open” primaries, that is you must be a registered Republican to gain entrance to the convention and to vote, and show voter I.D.
Paper ballots are hand counted and results are same day.
Which is not to say there are not shenanigans that go on, as the RINOS, most of whom have been on the Committee for 20+ years, try to maintain their positions.
State Executive Committees direct funding and other resources like campaign expertise to or away from candidates.
They recruit, endorse and funnel such support to the key County Recorders in the Counties that control election outcomes.
They can recruit and endorse “splitter” candidates, to split the MAGA vote, while leaving just ONE RINO candidate, in order to control outcomes.
Kari Lake said she will not run for public office, because the election system in Az. is too corrupt.

No one should care about the so-called “Speaker of the House.” Congress is a joke. Stop giving it any importance.
True that the President is the source of most of Our power as citizens. But we have power in that we elect our Congressman from our own districts and they are answerable to only us every two years. If we can grow our movement over the next two years, we may have enough like minded representatives to make a difference in the Legislative Branch outcomes. Time to lay the groundwork to get our own people elected in all of our own Districts. We do have a say in to Senate outcomes, but since those guys are intended to represent the State Government’s positions, they will continue to be less valuable to the individual citizens. If Trump can get the Country back to some respect for the Constitution, we will all see more accountability from our Congressmen.
Just as a rejoinder, I don’t use gender based descriptions of non-gender public officeholders for what I believe is a good reason. Gender and sexual persuasion should not be valued in our choices of public officials. It wastes too much time to try to be gender correct when writing about an obviously gender neutral position.

On the “One Big Beautiful Bill” lets look, logically at the oft presented argument for “Comprehensive Legislation”.
Most prominently we have seen this argument advanced in recent years, as justificatiin for “Comprehensive Healthcare Bill” and “Comprehensive Immigration reform, but we also see regular Omnibus spending bills which fund a variety of totally unrelated Govt. departments.
The argument is “immigration (or Healthcare or whatever) is SO complex, so complicated, with so many intercinnected and interacting parts, that the ONLY way to address it, is with One (“Big Beautiful”) COMPREHENSIVE Bill, that addresses ALL of the issues.
This is patently illogical. There can be few areas of human behavior that, by neccesity are more regulated than TRAFFIC.
We have commercial vehicles, privately owned cars, taxis, buses, and in some cities street cars, bycycles, pedestrians, people in wheel chairs, blind people with seeing eye dogs and more, going every which way on our major city streets, and thats not to mention highways.
We do not, and never had one “Comprehensive” bill, to tackle this complex and complicated issue, with (literally) so many seperate but interconnected parts.
We took it one step at a time, and one law at a time, which is LOGICALLY the best way to approach a big, complicated subject with many interconected parts.
Any time you hear the argument that a topic is so big it requires”Comprehensive” legislation, know the speaker is blowing smoke up yer *ss.
If Legislators, with their staffs, actually wrote legislation, put their names on it, and voted it up or down, focusing on addressing one specific issue at a time,…Legislators would be accountable, and they would be unable to hide the pork.which they don’t want.
If reports are accurate, it took Mitch, Hakeem, Johnson and Schumer 85 days to create that 1500 page monstrosity, and about 12 hrs to create the final 100 page lite beer version.
A single issue bill can be quite brief, say one page clarifying (and ending) so called “birthright citisenship” for example.
Another one page bill, ending chain migration, etc.
As for “healthcare” the Federal Govt. has no authority to be involved in regulating medical treatments at all, certainly not in a “Comprhensive” way!
What is truly “comprehensive” is the deception network called the US Government. Of course good things come from it, but nothing is done altruistically. If I get a SS check it’s because Team DC knows they’ll get their lives rearranged if they don’t deliver to their silver voters.

President Trump’s endorsement of Johnson held the caucus together, and Massey’s vote wasn’t needed, so he cashed in a chit to get some name recognition.

The EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE controls every aspect of party operations in your State, and until MAGA takes control of the State Party Executive Committee, recruiting candidates to try to primary the RINO public officeholders is an excercise in frustration.
However, I am NOT a nattering nabob of negativity, these members of the State Party Executive Committees are ELECTED to their positions, at State conventions held every two years.
We need to recruit and prepare MAGA candidates to run against THEM, so that WE, MAGA can gain control of the Executive Committee, and so insure MAGA candidates trying to primary RINO incumbents for public office have a chance to actually win.
I’m focused on what, you’re talking about how, and both are important. That being said, the GOP is dead to me. We need our own MAGA party. Much as I’d like to say we can coopt the GOP, it’s just too easy for the Government Party and Democrats to rig it with phony candidates and ballot splitting failures. It’s a minor miracle that we did not see 40-50 Republicans split off to elect Hakeem Jeffries and a testament to Trump’s raw power right now. Fear got them in line today, and they need to feel the icy grip of fear every single time one of his initiatives goes to a vote.
But in parallel, a new party is needed for 2026. Allow select Republicans to run as dual candidates for both the GOP and the MAGA party. We have to break from the GOP to solidify this coalition. A great many Democrats who sat out 2024 probably would not have done so were Trump running not as a Republican but truly as his own Party. The GOP brand is dead and has been dead for a decade or more, most definitively when we elected Trump and they quickly betrayed every promise of the past 30 years. No, the GOP must be allowed to die and we must hasten that process.
There is no law that says parties must organize the way you describe. It is done this way specifically to protect the party from its voters. Walls and layers and red tape and frauds.
Create a new party, define its immutable core principles, and move forward without the GOP. Allow only those who have shown fidelity to us, the voters, to join, and begin the long slow process of ejecting the rest. The Liz Cheney caucus.
2-3 election cycles and the GOP is dead and a genuine alternative to the Official Government Party emerges. There are a lot of Americans thirsting for this knowing that the Democrats are evil and the Republicans are gutless backstabbing traitors.
Otherwise, Trump’s MAGA agenda will burn out in 4 years. He wants a legacy? He wants to return the Republic to the voters? Well that means wrecking the GOP.
It also means very simple, plain spoken, non legalistic approaches to ending mail in voting, requiring proof of US citizenship via a legitimate ID to vote. Create a Federal Election Day national holiday and order all businesses closed and absentee voting only in narrow circumstances like military out of state and first responders. Abolish mail in voting and make it a constitutional amendment if necessary. But abolish it we must.
We have to let the GOP die. We don’t have a majority until the representative have the Fear of God put into them.

I was a GOP County Committeewoman in ’92, but hung out with some Perot people. One of them had helped set up the Reform Party HQs in every state, party registration in the state, getting on the ballot in each.
Maybe it could not get started for the 2028 Prez race, but in certain states, maybe for 2026 Congressional seats, a well-organized state party might do the trick.
It’s worth thinking about. You need a smart strategist, some fundraising. It’s VERY EXPENSIVE. They used Perot’s $$ for all of it. Some experienced Perot folks might guide you.

Yes!! And the sooner the better, it needed to start the day after the election, but now is good. Each congressional district needs MAGA-types to run for or support someone running to challenge the incumbent.
If people would do that, we could have a MAGA majority within the R’s and probably a +20 or more advantage in the House.
The problem is people think the R party leaders are going to do it and then sit around complaining nothing ever changes. We can take back the party through brut force with high turnout. The system is setup because of low turnout in off-cycle elections.
