If it were my House, the “House Rules” would say that someone is selected “by lot” to serve as Speaker, for a term of no longer than one year, and that person then becomes ineligible to be randomly selected again. President Trump has endorsed Mike Johnson for Speaker. I have said I like Johnson, because he personally campaigned in 45 Congressional districts in the last election. Also, because he chose not to ram the Porkulus Omnibus spending bill through, but posted it for review and then worked with President Trump and DOGE to pass an alternative.
I also like that Johnson has discarded the “Hastert Rule” requiring the Speaker to only bring bills to the floor that he knows will pass. Sometimes a bill needs to fail in order to perfect the legislation that will ultimately pass.
I don’t know who the “Alligator-Emoji Republicans” are. Hyphen-Republicans are not my bag. The Democrats will take advantage of any division. We have a slim majority in the House, but serious hurdles are faced by Congress to right the ship of state. It is a critical situation that reminds of the words of Benjamin Franklin: “We must all hang together, or we will all hang separately.”

President Trump is a pragmatist. Is Johnson ideal? No, but having a speaker fight now possibly delaying the certification is not an option. POTUS needs to keep the GOP on the same page, which is a difficult task.
I think he has a great deal of influence on Johnson, and there will be a greater possibility of passing legislation once POTUS is the guy signing the bills, and the GOP at least will have some control in the Senate.
Until the Massie/Roy/Spartz/et al crowd who play at “standing on principle” come up with a viable candidate in opposition to Johnson, it’s all just theater. Massie avoided direct questions on what his plan was yesterday when asked directly on Xwitter. This is about creating drama, delaying certification, and slowing Trump’s agenda. Full stop. I assume Trump realizes that and is attempting to head it off. The votes do not exist to elect anyone other than a Swamp dweller.

Earlier this week Trump tweeted a full throated support for Musk and H1B Program. WTH? In 2016 campaign and early administration Trump was against the H1B program.
Johnson is a worm – a tool to be used by any power that gets in is grill. This week it’s Trump. Musk/Vivek called Americans opposing the H1B program, calling them “lazy”, retarded” and “dumb”. Musk went so far as to call MAGA “ignorant fools” who should be removed from the party root and branch. Then tweeted MAGA should “F- their face”. Meanwhile the oligarchs shave labor costs with the H1B program, enhancing their company’s margin, multiplying stock valuations and ultimately making the rich richer. Reasonable thinking Americans understand citizenship and it’s benefits. The also understand the preference of student visas that include O-1, EB-1A and F-1 foreign STEM and the biden 24month extensions, The avg guy gets it… Hire low wage workers displacing qualified/better qualified American workers. They understand those students automatically are enrolled in a work opportunity exempt from labor regulations – wages/hrs/work conditions – all aimed at replacing American workers. So I’m wondering “If MAGA means making America great again, have we been gamed into thinking that greatness was for the benefit of citizens or increasing the net wealth of the tech oligarchs?” Which leads me to a further question, “Is Trump drunk with the concept of being recognized as the Greatest American President and was willing to make concessions that ultimately are at odds with American citizens?”

It’s not that I don’t agree with Massie, but at this point: It doesn’t really matter. Massie has reasonable claim, but let’s be honest — there are so many moderates out there, it won’t make a difference. The very Paul Ryan that Trump endorsed years ago went on to be the worst backstabber on the Murdoch network.
Maybe this will work out, maybe it won’t. Trump has some very bold agendas. He doesn’t have much time. We aren’t here to be cheerleaders. We are here to push Trump in the direction we want him to go when he goes astray. This is the last rodeo, folks.

Someone please explain to me why any conservative republican would want to re-elect Johnson as Speaker when he lied and broke his promises he made on condition that he be voted in as Speaker that he would not give in to the democrats on key issues and then turned around and did just that more? You cannot trust anyone who goes back on their word for any reason. Anyone who thinks otherwise is no different than Johnson. I cannot stand liars! I cannot think of a single republican speaker in my lifetime of 85 years who wasn’t a rino and all part of the establishment (except maybe Gingrich?). In fact, I think you could count all the conservative republicans who put America first, and not themselves and the establishment UniParty, on both hands and have fingers left over. Now, think about who’s to blame for them being in public office in the first place and why….
Part of the reason is to elect Johnson immediately is two fold. First, if it drags out by the Repubs not being unified, no cabinet confirmations can take place until a Speaker is selected, which could drag on indefinitely. The second reason is if they don’t come to an agreement, it’s possible that a couple of Repub Rhinos could retire or get ill and give the control to the Dems and ruin any progress. This was always be a problem for Trump, especially in the Senate. IMO, and some would say this is radical, but needs to be done now. That is to start releasing all the info publicly of proof of not only the stolen 2020, but also the info captured during 2022 and this last election. Patrick Byrne, General McInerney and others have declared they have the evidence. Release it just after the 1st, along with the Trump declassified doc binder the FBI did not find I’m the raid, along with thee Epstein and Diddy files, the Congressional slush fund for sex crimes, and any and all corruption and 5crimes involving Congress, bureaucrats, judiciary and media. Force resignations to require new elections. It is my understanding there is a process that would allow Trump to nominate individuals until elections are finished. This would also nullify all Bidens immunity and pardons.
