Jimmy Carter was the first President to push the idea of managing the decline of America.
I was a Poli Sci major in college when Carter was President, so I was following politics at the time.
Carter started the teachers union. I remember watching the Natl News reporting on it. I always connect the bloated educational system to him as a result. Irony that he then spent his years building Habitat Houses for the low income uneducated.
He was also responsible for the Dept of Education, adding nuclear levels of bloat.
He was the problem for decline in America. 15-17% interest rates will do that.
My instantaneous reaction is: “relief.” He soldiered on like the sailor that he was, but there was zero “quality of life” left. He needed to be set free – to be reunited, forever, with Roslyn. “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
To me, Carter was firstmost a man of honor. For the Navy, for the State of Georgia, then for the Country, and finally for diplomatic service, he did his duty faithfully as he saw it. He made a lot of mistakes along the way. He didn’t get a second term. But you knew that he tried to do everything that he did as best he could, and that he was always honest. I think that he was an honor to the Office of the President – in a way that not too many people lately have been.
Some people say that Carter was one of “the best Presidents,” while others say that he was “one of the worst.”
And you know, to my way of thinking, it’s a pretty nice thing that people say both things about you at the same time. Because it means that you made a difference.
Shouldn’t he have “sailed” on like the sailor that he was? I can agree with most of your sentiments concerning Carter’s presidency except your last. For Carter to be an “honor” to the office puts the bar lower than it should ever be. Between Carter, Obama and Biden , that bar is where it should be if they were doing the limbo under a men’s room stall.
No, soldiered on like a sailor is accurate for Carter IMHO. He was a decent human being who tried his best, but he was the wrong person for POTUS. The Deep State flourished under his watch.

H1B Visa workers and their Big Tech employers are both exempt from paying Social Security and Medicare taxes which total 15% of their salaries!
