George S. Patton
(1885-1945)
American WWII general (Sicily, Italy and Normandy) known as “Old Blood & Guts”, dies of congestive heart failure at 60
Biography: George S. Patton played a significant role in World War II. He is best known for his leadership of the United States’ Third Army in 1944, during which he led a successful armored drive across France and into Nazi Germany. Patton’s aggressive tactics and skill in mobile warfare contributed to the Allied victory.
Born in 1885, Patton graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1909. He competed in the modern pentathlon at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm. During World War I, Patton served in the newly formed Tank Corps, where he developed his expertise in armored warfare.
In World War II, Patton commanded the Western Task Force during Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of North Africa in 1942. He later led the U.S. Seventh Army during the invasion of Sicily in 1943. During this campaign, Patton was temporarily removed from command after slapping two soldiers suffering from combat stress, an incident that nearly ended his career.
Patton was reinstated in 1944 to lead the Third Army in France following the D-Day invasion. His forces advanced rapidly across France, relieving the besieged city of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. Patton’s Third Army continued into Germany, covering more ground in less time than any other army in history.
After the war, Patton was involved in a car accident in Germany and died from his injuries in December 1945. His legacy as a military leader was later popularized by the 1970 film “Patton,” starring George C. Scott.

American inventor (invented the walkie-talkie), dies at 82
Biography: Al Gross was an American engineer known for innovations in wireless communications that paved the way for the technology today in devices like portable cell phones and pagers. His work changed the way the world interacts and shares information.
Born in Canada, Al Gross moved to the United States during his childhood. His interest in wireless communication started at just 16 years of age when he obtained his amateur radio operator’s license. After earning his degree in electrical engineering from the City College of New York, he contributed to the World War II effort by improving two-way air-to-ground communications for the Office of Strategic Services.
Gross’s pioneering work began in the 1930s with the development of the walkie-talkie, initially intended for military application. He expanded the scope of two-way communication technology with the creation of the Citizens’ Band (CB) radio, offering a new avenue for personal communication to the general public.
In the 1940s, he revolutionized the communication landscape once again by inventing the pager, enhancing communication in critical sectors such as medicine and emergency services. His efforts to miniaturize electronic components were also vital in the evolution of handheld transceivers.
To further his innovations, Gross established companies like Gross Telecommunications Corporation to produce and distribute his communication devices. Despite his seminal inventions, financial success eluded Gross as his patents expired before achieving widespread commercial success.

FWIW, I looked up more information about Gross’ 1938 walkie talkie since solid state electronics had not yet been made available – Bell Labs had just invented the transistor…

I was at Crystal River with my better half in the latter ’90s, Nim. The Gulf water we saw by the piers was crystal clear – you could see everything clearly on the bottom in what was probably 7 to 8 feet of water. Sponges and grasses grew close to the docks – sun was up high and we could see them gently waving in the current. I do not remember what time of year I was there – my parents lived in Winter Haven at the time and we were day touring that area on the Gulf coast north of St. Pete.
I never heard of Ichetucknee Springs, only Silver Springs (south of Gainesville). But I found it on the map.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

God afternoon to you. Hope the story brought a little giggle. I was being silly, Savannah and the cats were being silly.. happy to anticipate this most precious holiday.
Wrote the little poem before I saw the news today of the German massacre and drone attacks on Russia… and then my laughs turned to prayers. I’m not tone deaf.. just timing is bad.
Seems evil wants its way with us to keep us in bondage and to wipe away our joy. Always inducing trauma… the devil of this world… to suppress and control us.
Oh that people of the world would awaken from the mass trance we are in. The 95% of the population who would rather not see how the sausage is made.
It gives me great confidence that no one will have a choice but to acknowledge Christ as the only King in the end times.
People will awaken to see how they have been used and abused and misled and Truth will stand. We can take great comfort in the shelter of our merciful Lord God.
So I’ll pray over us all, the saved and unsaved alike. Be uncontrollable. There is freedom in Christ.
I pray you and Lloyd are well and have warm family gatherings planned.
They scare us.
We will sing a hymn.
They turn off our lights.
We will light our candles.

I am BLESSED. Humor me, my continued sharing…
Was in the grocery yesterday and somehow was connecting with perfect strangers. I was getting and giving smiles all around.
In produce, after helping a guy scale his ginger root to see how precious that root was going to be when he paid for it. I wished him a Merry CHRISTmas… and the mid 40s man said “Yes, YES!!! Merry CHRISTmas to YOU! Thank you, THANK YOU for THAT”
I turned and ran into an immaculately kept farmer man.
In his mid to late 70’s or so, he was dressed to the nines in a starched blue and white, crisp, dress shirt (looked brand new), with clean light blue overalls, and sharp ball cap. He leaned into me and said, “Can you believe they’re asking $1.99 for this small bunch of radishes?” as he tossed them back down amongst the produce.
I agreed, with my 2 lbs of fresh Brussel Sprouts for $6, my 2 dozen eggs for $7, and my lemongrass paste for $5, as no fresh was to be found.
The smartly dressed farmer smelled of clean cologne and was as charming as he could be! A joyful, joyful man.
He had three hams in his cart, reduced by half price and was proud as punch with his find. About $36 in hams and I lauded him saying it was cheaper than deli meat to buy them whole and freeze them in portion and he could use the bones to make ham and beans. He smiled at me and said “I did that last week!”
We were two old soul friends and he asked me where I lived.
“Here in the neighborhood”, I said.
He told me his farm was in Kirkland about 30 miles north of here. He stopped short of inviting me over… I think suddenly realizing I was a stranger to him.
I leaned in and I said… “Don’t worry, it’s going to get better soon. Only a few more days.”
To which he beamed the brightest sunshine in his face.
The feeling is palpable and tangible, dear Reed Walker. The cloud is lifting but the fight will be long and hard. I pray the house cleaning thorough and we can restore nations’ beautiful sovereignty again… for each nation should be uniquely its own.
Long live America and long live our brothers and sisters all over the world. They are a mere smile and handshake away.
Let’s toss all the demons into the abyss and throw away the key and be back to traveling the world and enjoying the world to each country’s success and pleasures. We’ve many, many friends to make.

Our communities need more gatherings. Like church pot lucks.
I’m missing a smaller town and I get the impression on some folks’ grimaced faces, that they too miss that connectivity.

In other news I’ve lost my farm fresh eggs at least until Spring I’m hoping (I’ve been spoiled w/ fresh eggs for a couple years ) but my neighbors hen’s are taking most of the winter off, relative to excess production lol. They’re a large family and presumably eat the fruits of their laboring chickens ha. ( Ok I’ll stop before the pun police cite me 🙂

I’m now going to Trader Joe’s is my standby egg source at only 4$ a dz decent brown free range ( which I’m not convinced IS free range? But after hearing of the egg shortage pandemonium nationwide? I’m glad we have some producers locally.

However, at night she comes round and has chosen my bed to burrow in. I find I’m hemmed in and can barely move from the clowder.

The pond was froze over & so was the branch.
The snow was piled up belly-deep to a mule.
The kids were all home on vacation from school,
And happier young folks you never did see-
Just all sprawled around a-watchin’ TV.
Then suddenly, some time around 8 o’clock,
There came a surprise that gave them a shock!
The power went off, the TV went dead!
When Grandpa came in from out in the shed
With an armload of wood, the house was all dark.
“Just what I expected,” they heard him remark
“Them power line wires must be down from the snow.
Seems sorter like times on the ranch long ago.”
“I’ll hunt up some candles,” said Mom. “With their light,
And the fireplace, I reckon we’ll make out all right.”
The teen-agers all seemed enveloped in gloom.
Then Grandpa came back from a trip to his room,
Uncased his old fiddle & started to play
That old Christmas song about bells on a sleigh.
Mom started to sing, & 1st thing they knew
Both Pop & the kids were all singing it, too.
They sang Christmas carols, they sang “Holy Night,”
Their eyes all a-shine in the ruddy firelight.
They played some charades Mom recalled from her youth,
And Pop read a passage from God’s Book of Truth.
They stayed up till midnight-and, would you believe,
The youngsters agreed ’twas a fine Christmas Eve.
Grandpa rose early, some time before dawn;
And when the kids wakened, the power was on..
“The power company sure got the line repaired quick,”
Said Grandpa – & no one suspected his trick.
Last night, for the sake of some old-fashioned fun,
He had pulled the main switch – the old Son-of-a-Gun!

Prayer Of Thanksgiving In The Evening
Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.
My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord
I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful night’s sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will. Guard all those that I love and may we all grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ in the days that lie ahead. This I ask in His precious name,

Prayer Of Reflection On The Past Day
Loving Lord, as the day is coming to an end, I want to thank You for being with me in all that has taken place today. I also want to lay the whole day before You, asking that you would show me if there is anything that I have done to hurt or harm another person unknowingly, or if I have done anything that is displeasing in Your sight, or quenched the work of the Spirit in me, so that I may turn away from such things in the days that lie ahead.
Lord, I desire to do Your will in all things. I pray that You would cleanse me of any wrong thoughts or attitudes that may have surfaced in my heart today. Wash me in Your cleansing flood, I pray.
Thank You, that You are a God who forgives our transgressions when we are willing to confess them to You, knowing that such cleansing before You immediately draws us back into sweet fellowship with Yourself.
Give me a good night’s rest I pray, and may I rest quietly in Your loving arms in the knowledge that in Christ, I am eternally secure, due to Your amazing grace, for which I praise You. In Jesus’ name,

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,
