Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Morning, Garrison and sweet Tink 😘☕😽 I listened to their first offering to get a flavour of the wonderful treat you’ve left for us this morning. With reluctance I paused it so I could enjoy when I have my first cup of ☕. It’s lovely to have something to look forward to, which I most certainly do with these two sublime guitarists so attuned to one another.
Here they come!!! Those irrepressible, unpredictable, ungovernable furry bundles of fur and toe beans…
Waking up is hard.
The wonders of what a cup of coffee can do…
Just looking for the cat treats…move along! 😼
Bets,
These kitties are delivering the coal for their own stockings!
I noticed that, too, Corny 😁👍🏻🌲
On New Year’s Eve in Wales, if we could stay awake until midnight, we followed note custom there of one of us standing outside (in the bitter cold) with a lump of coal in one hand and a piece of bread in the other… then knock on the door, the other answering.
That way we would never be cold in the winter nor hungry.
It was a quaint custom I always loved.
And now that fat kitty has disturbed my coal delivery!! 😼😘
What a sweet memory – always love your Wales reminiscences.
I’ve got many 😁👍🏻

We had our fair share of those moggies, let me tell you. Loved each and every single one.
Sweet 😌💕
Mornin’ Betsy!
My cat is ginger colored and has a criminal background not unlike the perpetrator in that pic 🙂
Actually, she has an eating disorder! I have to feed her incrementally or else she will quickly eject the food she invariably wolfs down.
Wolf?! lol
Have a wonderful and blessed day!!
Morning, reed 😘 Bless you, my friend, for taking care of a little offender who needed someone just like you. We had a ginger cat, Polly, a farm cat who found us. Lovely long hair. She had a litter by her paramour, a muscular itinerant we named Buster. Buster came through the top open half of our Welsh backdoor one day to lick off the top of the most perfect cheesecake I’d made and which was cooling. It has been YEARS (!!!) but when I think of the house I loved, it is a vision of Buster on top of my small stove, insouciant, licking his chops which I first remember.
The pair of them just upped and left one day…I say they “eloped” just so I don’t always break my heart wondering if they were all right…
Blessed be your day, dear sir.
HIya Betsy!
Thank you for your wonderful reply as always! I am a bit indifferent at times ( it’s a cat trick! ) but I am NEVER insouciant 😉
I am convinced cats just play insouciant in their never ending attempt to feign indifference LOL ( I’ve used up my quota for that wonderful word ‘o the day. For at least a year 🙂
My current ginger rescue is I think about ten? My last youngster ( a CAT lol ) was eaten by something larger, I fear.
This one is still sprightly enough to catch the errant mouse ( I’ve scolded her over bringing baby bunnies inside whaaaaa! so NO MORE wabbits ! ) But she stays close to the food dish, yet I am afraid I have created a monster who howls incessantly even when just fed. She’ll do a lap in the yard, come back inside to eat.. again!!!
Bless you my friend. I am now going to soak my sore table tennis ankle in epsom salt LOL..hope that isn’t TMI LOL
Have a wonderful day.
( I tried to say hello once or twice and you know how threads disappear then suddenly a new one is born! and there were are 😉 )
What a lovely reply, reed 😌 Bringing rabbits in on occasions, at night of course while we were sleeping, was a trick of one of our cats. I won’t describe…I can’t allow myself. But we were rural, and they were barn cats. The ones they gifted us with were not small. I’m too soft hearted, that’s my problem. But fortunately their nocturnal attitude of this nature were thankfully rare.
You’re a slave to your precious toe beaned moggies. You do know that I’m sure 😉💕 And there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. So say I…each kitty has her or his own personality, and it is incumbent upon us as their willing servants to adjust to whatever it may be.
Hope your table tennis ankle recovers. My goodness!! What a ferocious player you must be! Oh, and by the way…I received a few medals for table tennis singles AND doubles when I attended summer camp ages 10-14. Too bad we can’t have a match 😂😘
(No worries on catching me these days, dear friend. I’ve been irregular in my posting on this thread which is shameful, but this month has been fraught and busy. If I stop by in the morning, that’s a wonder. Dash in, dash out before the day starts. In the new year, I should be back to normal posting. Blessings, reed 💕
Thanks Betsy for the evening reply hope you see mine now its nearly tomorrow.. thanks for the kind words ankle is a bit better after a soak and some ice. Yes, I play like a fanatic must have near near 15 hours in this past week. I try to play every day our facilities allowing as we rent time/space in a mason lodge. But it’s my only genuine hard core chase tiny orange balls around a table.
I try to mimic the jack russell terriers I have known and loved LOL
That’s awesome you won awards at TT! Its always been my favorite game and I only half joke when I explain that my love of the game began when Walt Disney ( the man himself ) gave me a five dollar bill for supposedly “winning” a game, outside the Burbank commissary where they had a couple tables for before/after lunch. That sealed my love of the game I can assure you 🙂
We never had musch time to “play” on the backlot at Disney’s burbank lot, but – thank God for the “Jackie Coogan laws” 😉
Have a blessed night my friend! and thank you so much for the reply.
Just look’n for some mice.
Afternoon, dear Bet. This duo is exceptionally well matched, I think. I also like to audition a concert by listening to the opening piece or pieces. Personally, I much prefer to find well selected lyrical opening pieces rather than flashy bombast. But that’s just me I guess. Fortunately, the Siccas guys always work hard to curate and present supurb performances. 🙂
Well this one was one of my favourites I must tell you, dear Garrison. They played as one which was a delight. Observing how they seemed to be reading one another. Like you, I am not a fan of bombast. One reason I prefer in the main to listen to performances rather than watch. Easier to concentrate on the music and the performance of it, no matter in what form it comes. I prefer to construct my own visions while listening and let the emotions which come from what I am hearing take over. Much better…😘
Mornin’ Garrison
Thanks again! ♥️
For you and Tink:
Wow!!!!!
How’d you make her do that Soazburrolady?! LOL

Vehicular Jihad at the Magdeburg Christmas Market
I visited a Berlin Christmas Market in 2016, a month before a muzzie drove a dump truck thru it
If you don’t know the tradition, in mid-December they put up wooden stalls and counters in city squares and sell Christmas decorations and candies and gifts you might purchase for friends and family.
They serve sausages and beer and warm wine and everyone mills about shopping and standing around in the cold and being sociable with groups of friends.
It’s very nice and it’s a Christmas / Christian tradition
… which makes it an irresistable target for Religion-of-Peace-ers, if you grasp my innuendo
Too bad … you can’t maintain nice, civilized social traditions when you invite the uncivilized to live in your land

The fake news make me want to puke every time.
Don’t know if you saw the video of this atrocity…the Saud driving floored it. How there aren’t more dead is unfathomable. The carnage. The Saudis have tried to extradite this monster three times, and each time Germany has refused.
And don’t you dare say what has been proven true each and every time.

I truly have no appropriate words, and believe me I’ve tried. One day I pray the Germans will stop being cowed and take their country back. One terrorist more attack may do it. Elections on the horizon.
Bet, IMO any nation that forces it’s males to sit down and pee, and they comply, is gone.

At the very minimum the German authorities could have installed a line of temporary heavy steel bollards at either end of the pedestrian market area that prevent vehicles from entering. Permanent bollard “sockets” are created and covered with steel plates most of the time. But when the market is due to take place, the covers are removed and the bollards lowered into the holes with a small mini-crane or backhoe, fitting tightly, and are too heavy for anyone to lift.
A friend of mine is going thru chemo. I am putting together an inexpensive care package to mail out. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions that would be helpful to someone in her situation?
I met a lady through an ebay sale that made cancer comfort pillows with a group of her lady friends. If you go to Etsy, and search for “port pillow” the simple pillows you will see are almost identical to what the ebay lady made. If you have a sewing machine, the pillow is easy to make:
https://createtodonate.org/how-to-make-a-chemo-port-pillow/
Thanks! I will take a look. I did find a nice shawl/blanket/scarf. It looks like a scarf but can be a blanket over her legs or a wrap around her shoulders. She said the chemo room gets cold. A pillow would be nice to go w/that.
Very thoughtful! Nice idea!
I’m not sure what their restrictions are (during treatment), or even if your care pkg is meant for days in treatment room, but maybe a little bag of individually-wrapped hard candies? Like werther’s caramels, or jolly ranchers, etc. Some come sugar free as well.
if her taste buds are up for it…
I don’t know the restrictions and such, I am sure there are some so I don’t want to send things she can’t have or use, plus I have to watch my own finances and not go overboard. I will put in some mints and candies, thanks for the tip. I didn’t know about taste buds and dry mouth etc. Makes sense though. I am just now learning about this. I have not had much exposure or experience in dealing w/cancer, at least on a personal level. People I know have passed or healed from it. I am not able to go visit, we communicate through text so w/not being there, I just let her tell me what she wants me to know.
I appreciate everyone’s ideas and suggestions! Very, very helpful.
Yes, a shawi for her shoulders is a thoughtful and needed gift.
A couple of years ago I found a warm and soft poncho at Lands End. I have used it as both a poncho indoors during the winter, and as a lap blanket. I love it!
Nice. I love multi-use clothing.
Excellent choice to give her the versatile clothing item to keep her body part(s) warm!
Not what I was thinking, I can’t make one, but I do know someone that can. Cool. Thx for the suggestion.
Good morning, Leavemygunsalone – When I first started chemo in 2016 my appetite and taste were adversely affected. I found that mints and minty chewing gum was helpful in dealing with the dry mouth and lack of taste.
Good to know. Thank you. I can put some mints/gum in the box.
Another idea is an electric small lap blanket. It is a personal sized version of the electric blanket and is great for helping them stay warm when sitting in a chair
Good idea. Thank you. I will see what is out there.
Warm lightweight blankets. Soft comfy socks or bootie style non skid slippers. Puzzle books or interesting paperbacks help pass the time and keep the mind occupied, and are good gifts too.
Nice, that I can do! Thanks. How long is the time, average per treatment?
It all depends on the cancer being treated, along with other variables. My infusions were a couple of hours back then. There were people who’d bring large tote bags because their infusions were 6-8 hours.
Oh my that is a long time. I hope you are doing well.
Yes. I went through this with my husband and several others. Key issue is when someone feels really sick and does not want to eat or drink much, you need to pack that one or two mouthfuls with all of the Right Stuff delivered at the right temperature for that patient. Then wait. Maybe 15-20 minutes. Maybe an hour. Depends — then another mouthful or two, this time it might be three. Very slow, steady, patient. The key is that for each mouthful you can get in that you are gaining not losing ground. After a while the worst effects pass and some degree of normalcy returns, but it will happen faster and sooner and last longer if you get things into balance earlier.
That understood, here is what you are aiming for: hydration, electrolytes back in balance, nutrition.
Obviously Ensure and such drinks carry a lot but they taste awful and one might draw the line somewhere. So, I just sneak a little Ensure or other electrolyte-balancing into my ‘porridge’ mixture.
Porridge: Oatmeal, oat bran, Knox unflavored gelatin (it’s great way to deliver protein and saved many from starvation) cooked in whole milk or 1/2 and 1/2 very slowly. Add whatever sweetener your patient likes — maple syrup, honey, raw brown sugar – their choice. A sprinkle of cinnamon, nutmeg, sneak in turmeric, and ginger will do wonders.
If your patient is repulsed by the idea of hot porridge, then cook it, chill, and add ice cream with a dollop of real vanilla. Sometimes a mouthful of the cold ice cream is just the thing to counter the chemo nausea and blahs. Never mind if s/he takes only a spoonful. In that spoonful is packed everything to make progress.
If the mouth sores are so bad the person cannot eat, the ice cream version is preferred. Or, just take a clean cheesecloth and dribble a bit on very very parched lips. Followed by water – sparkling is best. Just rehydrating the mouth does an enormous amount to improve internal metabolism.
And as soon as semi-solid food can be tolerated, add yogurt. Gettingthe gut health back asap helps everything else.
Praying for you — been there and done that.
Oh wow. I had no idea of any of that. I do not live near her, but I pray she has some help to deal w/the things you are describing. The only thing she has said is that ‘I gotta tell you this chemo stuff is rough”. Her hair is falling out now so I did get her a nice beanie hat. Outside of that I don’t know what else. She has always been a tough gal full of energy and spunk so it made me quite sad to know she was struggling. She moved back home to take of her mother w/dementia and is now dealing w/her own set of issues, so I am not sure of how much hands on help she has. I do hope the hospital or treatment facility is giving her good advice like the things you have described. I will save your notes to relay. Thank you for opening my eyes to potentially her experience.
Hello Leave, Whatever you send will be remembered as a kind gesture of love!
I don’t have any experience with this (thank God), but had few ideas.
As much as I dislike “gift cards” (so impersonal), one might be appreciated.
Especially if she has a Kindle (Amazon) – and can purchase her reading material there
Most people have personal preferences for items I thought of: lip balm, hand lotion, mittens, slippers, loungewear, tote bag.
So, unless you “know” what she likes, those are hard to choose.
Maybe an indoor plant, such as Amaryllis … They’re beautiful this time of year. (in pet free home)
Perhaps a magazine subscription if you know her interests.
Your scarf selection will be enjoyed, I’m sure!
Even after recovery, it will remind her of your care.
Sending a prayer for her, Leave.
Bless you!
Or a “pretty” notepad with “pretty” pens.
Always good to have something to write on/with.
Lip balm, lotion, would be good, no size required:) I will keep an eye out for tote bag, I could put the items in the tote and then the tote in the postal box.
Gift cards are always a nice fall back on gift, I hear ya on them being impersonal, but honestly over the years some of the gifts people have given me I would rather have had a gift card. LOL! They do come in handy when sending an old fashioned b-day card through the mail. My nephew counts on getting a Domino’s card every year for his birthday. He loves his Friday night pizza.
Thank you for praying for her Miss Della B. Most appreciated.
Leave, be careful sending gift cards through the postal service …
In the last month, we’ve not received two important financial documents sent through the mail.
Who knows whose hands they’re in … 😡😡
Have you considered using “Zelle” through your bank?
We started doing that few years ago, and it works great.
Use it only for our close family members.
You’re a wonderful friend to your sick one – and a blessing, Leave.

Why can’t you have an Amaryllis w/pets?
They’re toxic to cats and dogs – per the ‘net.
No, that’s the dopamine..

My mom, may she rest in peace, was so tickled by “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” She got us the album for Christmas. When I listen to it. I can hear her laughing!
What a wonderful memory, your mom laughing. Those are the best kind!
My parents used to sing “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth” to us kids every Christmas when we were small…! I would not have remembered that tidbit had you not posted that historic recording….
I don’t know why but it just popped into my head yesterday. I have similar memories of us kids singing this when we were little.
Yes, it’s always curious why that happens.. I think many American kids in the 1950s heard this multiple times on the radio back then, and we are more likely to have the tune in our deeper memory because it has not been played publicly since then. On rare occasions I think of tunes from my childhood, but I can’t explain why they suddenly came to mind.
One thing is certain, we enjoyed a much more innocent childhood than children of the past few decades. I feel for children today. Innocence has been stripped away from them in too many ways.

Excerpt of an email from Pastor John MacArthur.
“I think in this latest election, the Lord has shown mercy to our country and, through our country’s outsized influence, to the entire world. Like Daniel, we confess, “We don’t deserve this, but we ask You, Lord, in Your compassion, shine Your mercy on us.” In a sense we’ve just experienced that. We’ve been given a temporary reprieve from more severe, fully deserved judgment.
“So what now? How should Christians respond to God’s merciful reprieve? I propose we’ve been given a fresh opportunity for the very purpose of being bolder in our proclamation of the truth and stronger in our stand against the culture’s corruption. The government may back off temporarily. For now, we may avoid some of the hostility and threats that were looming. But the corruption of the culture is such that we are going to be resented, hated, targeted, no matter what. Nevertheless, we have a new opportunity to be more courageous in how we live and minister. Instead of trying to court sinners to win popularity and acceptance—which ultimately will never come—we need to confront sinners while we have this mercy from God. The point of any reprieve isn’t our own comfort, safety, and social acceptance. The point is to use the opening to call lost people to repentance and faith in Jesus.”
Heavenly Father, Thank You Again For Another Night Of Restful Slumber. Thank You For Another Caturday. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Greetings Treepers!🙏✝️🙏
Mornin’ all!
One of the greatest Christmas stories ever written: “A Christmas for Shacktown,” by Disney “Duck Man” Carl Barks.
A 32-page comic-book story with marvelous and unexpected twists and turns, along with laugh-out-loud phrases and scenes, the tale is in its own way an epic, in that it also contains great drama, irony, and a very serious theme concerning our materialism. Barks was born in 1901, and lived to age 99: he was obviously a believer in classic American virtues of honesty, diligence, persistence, and perspicacity, as seen in his invention of Uncle Scrooge McDuck.
At the same time, Barks also shows the dangers of attachment only to wealth through Uncle Scrooge: and his expansion and transformation of Donald Duck’s character and the nephews are not to be missed: Donald is an adoptive father, struggling to support his all-male family, always in search of employment, and the nephews turn out to be inventive, helpful, and admirable members of The Junior Woodchucks, not the constant imps from the animated cartoons.
This YouTube video offers the original story: I suggest muting the unnecessary music. You can purchase a restored, hardbound edition on Amazon.
Watch and READ it with your children or grand-children!
Happy “cartoons and cereal day” everyone.
for levi, and all other silent tree-branchers who are in our thoughts and prayers.
peace to all who gather here, and thank you Jesus for our joy in being together.
I do too..
Amen.

Morning Reed,
Sounds like a Hee Haw tune.
HOwdy MMW!
It’s one of Albert King’s most noteworthy records/songs! I was given it on my tenth birthday ! (1) Albert King. (2) Booker T & The MG’s “Hip-Hug-Her” and “Aretha Franklin” – the LP that had the terrific single “RESPECT” on it.
Quite the funky musical selections for a ten year old 🙂
It’s a blues classic, MMW. This is a long version of it that King performed with Stevie Ray Vaughan
