So many people have seemingly forgotten that Mitt Romney was the 2012 Republican presidential nominee. He was crushed by Barack Obama despite record turnout by republican voters who held their nose, yet again, one last time and voted for the last of the GOP ‘next in line’ crew.
As he exits a career in politics, Mitt Romney reflects upon his professional legacy of ‘lightly held stances’ and expert level graciousness in losing; he’s had lots of practice. As Mitt Romney concedes the Republican party to the MAGA movement, this is somewhat of a reflective moment. WATCH:
.

Sundance,
That headline and the opening paragraphs are truly master class.
Bravo!
Was Romney ever one of those who held “wide stances”?
Metaphorically, yes.
😂👍🤣🤣
He can now go back to the business world. You know he doesn’t like interacting with us plebs. Him and his “high minded values” — that get him nothing.
Remember when Mittens tried to shame Trump with that Salt Lake speech? The one where he talks about how you wouldn’t want Trump as an example for our children and yadda yadda ya….
For all of Trump’s faults, Mittens are worse. A man with no conviction. One of the kingpins of the “Lose Gracefully” Caucus. That tells you all you need to know about Mittens.
Like all RINOs, Romney is a Democrat who wore conservatism as a skinsuit from the beginning. I’m guessing he triangulated early in his career that running as a Democrat wasn’t viable given Mormons are a Republican voting block. Harder to run the grift running against your own people’s preferred home.
Given his profile, history and public career, Romney was groomed much like Obama by the Intelligence community as a young man for leadership.
Arizona elected officials that are Republicans and Mormon are increasingly supporting Democrats. The Maricopa County Recorder facilitated the cheat in 2020. LDS is starting to swing Dem. https://cronkitenews.azpbs.org/2024/09/24/mesa-mayor-john-giles-joins-arizoan-lds-group-supports-kamala-harris
Utah has become more Democrat as it is flooded by Californians (SLC is the new Tech Valley), but members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are still strong republican based on voting data. The article you link to is a persuasion piece. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were around 70% for Trump per polling data I saw. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GeugJYibsAE0JsM?format=jpg&name=large
Interesting interview……😖
“Character is more important than policy”
😳 😳 Yikes!
The term “character “ used repeatedly in
interview. 😏 Then he admits he was weak and
doesn’t have a backbone.
🤷♀️ 💁 😄 Mittens should have skipped the interview
and just quietly slithered out of DC…..
Buh Bye, Willard Mitford Romney!
Mitt choked in 2012, subjecting all of us to the 2nd Obummer administration. His dispute with Trump was personal and should never have led to a “guilty” vote in the impeachment. Buh-bye, Mittens, and let’s hope we never hear from him again! BTW: John Curtis, we Utahns do not want you to be Romney 2.0!
Wasn’t Curtis aligned with the original “Republican” Senators that threatened to veto Matt Gaetz before he withdrew?
Pierre Delecto announces “Deuces Baby”, I’m out!! Couldn’t have happened to a better RINO…..best wishes to your fake conservative values.
Did he really say that bad character isn’t something we’ve had to live with in our leaders?
His father looks like a lunatic in that clip.
Contrast that with the deportment of JFK in his speeches.
JFK is the opposite of virtuous, but I do believe he loves the country and saw clearly the threats to it.
No one cares what Mitt-ass-Romney thinks about anything. Just leave already!
A friend of mine mentioned to me this morning, that Romney is going to go down in history as the only Senator to have cast a vote for impeachment, for a President of his own party!
I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but if it is, that is SOME LEGACY to hang on your mantel!
Well, except for the 35 Republican Senators who voted “guilty” on Article 2 for the impeachment of Johnson in 1868. While Lincoln/Johnson had been nominated by the “National Union Party”, the Republicans did accept them later as nominees. So at least nominally Johnson was elected as a Republican. Johnson was considered a RINO by the liberal/radical wing of the Republicans.
I’m almost ashamed to say that I volunteered with Romney’s campaign.
I wasn’t wild about him, just wanted Ozero out so much!
As I’ve heard it said, if Mitt Romney had fought Obama and the Democrats as hard as he fought Trump, he would have easily been a two term president.
