Had an aunt who was 93 when she fell and broke her hip. She was healthy and well but unfortunately the hip injury was her beginning of the end. Also my aunt was a kind and wonderful person.

My aunt was 87 when she broke her hip, she was cogent before the surgery, but was never the same after the surgery. Anesthesia is hard on the elderly.

It depends on the break. My mother couldn’t sit, much less walk, because she broke her hip socket. She was in hospital and then in-patient rehab for 6mos.
My MIL had a clean break of he hip bone and was walking in a week.
Both women were about 75, but the difference was incredible. Mom never walked without a walker again, whereas MIL made a full recovery.
They have term limits… everyone dies eventually.
