In the bigger picture, the U.S. Senate has been operating to control the military against the command of the President for multiple years. The Intelligence Community is in general alignment with the core mission of weakening the Defense Department as part of the larger objective.

The civilian leadership of the Defense Department, in combination with the influence of the U.S. Senate has led to a diminishment of mission priority. We have the outcomes through General Mattis, General H.R. McMaster, Lt Col Alexander Vindman, General James Kelly, all the way to Joint Chief’s Chairman Mark Milley; famously culminating in Milley collaborating with Chinese military leadership to undermine his own Commander-In-Chief, Donald Trump.
President Donald Trump has turned his focus to the “war fighters,” the men and women who carry out the mission objective of the Defense Department. The nomination of Pete Hegseth represents the confrontation of a power struggle that has been decades in coming.
The self-serving Senators are trying to block Hegseth, while maintaining a position of pretending support for President Trump. The DeceptiCon republicans in the Senate are in full circling mode, looking for a weakness to exploit.

According to Hegseth he is firm on the mission priority. President Trump is in full support and the schemes of the conniving Republican Senators, transparently visible in the efforts of Senator Jodi Ernst, who is circling the phalanx President Trump is creating – while simultaneously inserting herself into the DOGE mission. Hegseth is a key component of the phalanx, the fortification process that puts President Trump at the center of the cabinet. Each component of the cabinet protecting the center.
The phalanx is the mechanism to carry the weapon that is President Donald Trump. The DC UniParty is looking for a weakness in the phalanx like a wolf circling a porcupine.

Once you understand what President Trump is assembling (the phalanx) and once you accept the mission of the DC system to defend itself by isolating a weak spot in the mechanism, then everything from the assembly of the cabinet to the process being discussed makes sense.

The recent Supreme Court decision affirmed the President of the United States as the unitary, plenary power that controls every mechanism of the Executive Branch of government, and as long as the President is acting within his “official duty” he holds absolute power and absolute immunity.
Think of each cabinet member as a shield in this political phalanx that surrounds the weapon, President Trump.
Yes, the phalanx is by construct an offensive fortification used to advance upon the enemy. However, the strength of the phalanx is its ability to be impervious to attack from 360°. The phalanx advances, inch by inch against a larger fortification. In the transition team assembly, this is what President Trump is putting together.
If Hegseth wasn’t a strong shield against their interests, his attack vectors would not be exploited this soon in the assembly. They are focused on Hegseth because he represents a threat, a threat to remove decades of work done by the IC and their Senate supporting mechanism to weaken the U.S. Military.

It’s more complicated than that. The relevant commander was actually the DC Adjutant General (commander of the DC National Guard). If the DC Guard units had been federalized, their commander (which is not him) would have reported to a federally appointed commander — think LTG Honore after Katrina. All of this should have been coordinated well in advance, so that ad hoc decisions wouldn’t have had to be made. That’s the true malfeasance, not what anyone did or didn’t do on the day itself.
Not debating that, but get it.
My point was that the Joint chiefs aren’t just advisors. The chairman is. The other chiefs are the senior commanders in their respective service arms.
By telling everyone in the chain of command to ignore orders that did not come from HIM.
What the law says is immaterial to the actions that he took & to those who “obeyed.”

We know exactly what Ernst is like in Iowa and she is not very popular. Unfortunately it’s hard to get good MAGA candidates to run against them. We’ve had a couple of MAGA candidates try but when President Trump endorses the RINO candidates it pretty much nullifies any attempts at dislodging them.
The guy that ran against Grassley was a good candidate, the media completely ignored him and Grassley refused to debate him and President Trump always boosts Grassley for some reason. Add in the fact that Grassley’s handlers do a good job of hiding how feeble he really is at his age.
We had a good candidate against Miller-Meeks but he ran a conventional campaign and lost by 14 points in the primary. Anyone running against an incumbent in Iowa better have their own money or they need to understand how to run a grassroot insurgency campaign. You have to work night and day everyday to take out an incumbent. You have to work just as hard as President Trump does and most don’t have it in them.
I’m hoping someone will step up and take Ernst on but at this point it doesn’t seem likely.

The Recess Appointments Clause allows President Trump to call the Senate into recess for 10 days and during that recess, make any or all of his cabinet appointments without Senate confirmation. The terms of these recess appointments can be for as long as 14 months, more than enough time for Trump’s warriors to make life very uncomfortable for the rotten apples in the IC and Pentagon.
Alexander Hamilton said the recess appointment power gives the President “an auxiliary method of appointment,” in cases when the Senate confirmation method failed to deliver.
This is a power given to President Trump by the US Constitution that he should avail himself of.
That we must ensure he receives cooperation in gaining the power to do so.
Now we well understand that the President can recess the entire Congress, and that with cooperation from the Speaker of the House he can install all those that the Senate signified they feared would save America and very likely in the process destroy them.

I watched Hegseth on a Megyn Kelley clip here just now and if that were all I saw of him ever, I’d surely be unequivocal in support. The military is in dire need of the leadership I believe he would bring.
That said, I have heard him speaking in Israel in clips, and there have been some disturbing aspects of what he has said there, vis a vis Iran – what I sense is his belief that Iran must be neutralized in favor of Israel’s ultimate survival – and all that might imply. That, I’m not crazy about. Because continued and devastating war.
But I trust in my POTUS and it’s his call, and that’s all that matters. I know nothing. But I don’t believe President Trump would eliminate Iran as a nation. $100 Million from Miriam A, be damned.
