Eric Schmitt introduced legislation that individuals can sue bureaucrats directly for working with social media companies to limit free speech. This was back in 2023 and I missed it entirely.

Typically, government officials are legally shielded on a personal basis under the ‘sovereign immunity’ doctrine.
I think the intent was to proverbially ‘pierce the shield’ of sovereign immunity so there would be direct personal consequences from rogue officials.
Just a guess but the circumstances seem to suggest that.
The whole idea of sovereign immunity was that people would not be sued for actions taken in the course of their official duties.

Do I think he can execute the primary tasking from PDJT? Absolutely. Clean out the riff raff; fire the non-performers; prosecute the criminals.
After reviewing the bio, do I think this is a person who has the history to run the entire defense department at the same time? No. I don’t. And neither do many of my retiree warfighter friends who stretch across SPECOPS, NAVY, AF, USMC, Army, cyber. The bio doesn’t scream that to me.
We’ll learn in time. While I care about DoJ, etc., DoD is the one I know and care about the most cuz I lived it for so long. It’s not that I think Hegseth is a boob or anything like that. It’s obvious he isn’t. What is the depth of knowledge and experience that qualifies a person to run one of the largest corporations in the world? Warfighting is only a small percentage of the overall big picture.
In all of these Cabinet positions, first off the POTUS gives them their orders, establishes goals and metrics and timelines to measure progress, evaluates them, and can replace them if they aren’t performing as he requires.
In addition, a great deal of the actual work is done by those at levels 2&3.
If Hegseth or any other has areas of weakness, you give them assistants with strong background in that area.
