According to Benny Johnson, the whip of rough votes for leadership has been leaked. I have no idea if this is accurate, but in general terms it seems about correct. Thune with 24 votes, Cornyn with 18, Scott with 11. That math tracks with what I would anticipate.
Rick Scott is essentially the 2024 version of Jim DeMint.
A GOP Senate Source has leaked the internal whip-count for the Leadership Vote. The final votes will be on a secret ballot Wednesday.

If they did a second round with only Thune and Cornyn, the Scott group would probably split 50/50 (or a little better) in Thune’s favor.
Like I said, don’t get emotional on this one. The upper chamber is a completely self-preserving, hardened silo.
President Trump is taking the pragmatic, optimal solution approach, and negotiating his priority nominations past the leadership race.

Hoping President Trump is obtaining ‘bartering power’ against McConnell and his group. Yes, I know McConnell stepped down but he did not step out.
McC is no more out of this than BHO is out of the dem party.
Trump needs to make it known that he will make life hard for Thune and RINO top fund raisers.
Just like Ronald Reagan did with Tip O’Neill. How did that work out?
Didn’t PDJT endorse McConnell last time? How did that work out?
You don’t barter with snakes. Trump has all the political power right now. And all power is fleeting. He needs to use it. Now, while he has it.
Bingo!
But he won’t. As sad as it is to say, Trump is wholly a politician now. The swamp puts a smell on you that you don’t even notice yourself…
I don’t think you understand Trump. He had to work with them last time, feeling his way around. That’s what Pence was brought in for. And Pence and the rest of the snakes showed him exactly who they are. Trump made his billions in likely the toughest real estate market in the world. He is tough as steel His cabinet picks this time should tell you that. Gaetz? That’s a big FU to the swamp.
Trump should open investigations into Coryn and Thune for their corrupt support of forever wars in addition to a meeting with their top donors. Time to play rough with the RINOs
There should be no vote on leadership until all the newly elected Senators have been seated.
Liked, very much!
“should”
ANYONE but THUNE
Mitch’s rule needs to die a hard death.
And preferably a fast one.
Before Wednesday.
Cornyn is not any better.
Cornyn can be primaried in 2026. Cornyn needs Trumps support to beat Thune, making him dependant on Trump to keep his position.
Cornyn’s only running to split the vote so Scott doesn’t have enough votes to beat Thune.
Soak that up for a moment.
If Coryn cared about his country he would not provide the cover for red state senators to vote for Mitch’s B oy.
Trump should push red State Senators like Risch and Crapo. The state’s RINO players are tight, but the people see through it now and dislike them.
The thing is, the RINOS have loyalty, but Trump could crush it in an instant by withdrawing his support.
I live in FL, Scott is a little better but just barely and that’s because his record is not as well known as Thune and Coryn.
Rick Scott couldn’t wait to sign any gun restriction bill after the Marjory Stoneman Douglass staged school shooting.
His true colors came out with that drama.
Now FL has an egregious “red flag” law thanks to Rick Scott.
Roger Stone called Rick Scott “Skelator” and noted that he interviewed for a position in the Trump administration three different times but nothing.
Scott claims that he grew up in the projects with a single mom and no idea who his father is.
He has a bizzare speech defect but goes from zero to two hundred million dollars in healthcare.
I’m just a little suspicious of his resume as I am with Obama and Ron DeSantis.
It’s as if people are being groomed for political office at an early age.
Shades of 2016. No Senate support, dubious House support, Trump is hamstrung again. I hate CONgress…
Sunlight.
That’s what this whip leak is. The same as an open vote. Sunlight.
And they are already scrambling like cockroaches. Cockroaches love the darkness of secret votes.
You can’t cut deals with snakes. They won’t honor them later. They will block his agenda.
More sunlight. And then PDJT needs to drop his preference bomb on them. Loudly.
The battle is now. Now is not the time to negotiate with the snakes. Snakes and cockroaches.
Even David McCormick. Showing his scaled belly in mere days, after all Trump did for the RINO pipsqueak.
I’ll continue to politely disagree with our host on this issue.
Hawley what are you thinking!!! Dah! Come on and join the Trump train! Support Scott!!!!!!
Ya hear that Hawley !!
Every senator not securely in the McConnell fold is surely hearing from their big donors (i.e., handlers) telling them not to stray off the RINO plantation or face no $$$ come election time.
Ya, but it might be worth it to point out to those donors that the masses did not give a F about all of that money spent against Trump.
All RINO team on display. Please do not ever tell me that Cotton, Cruz, Hawley, Blackburn, Kennedy, et al, are conservatives.
They are worse than democrats because these guys are establishment back stabbers.
E-mailed both of our North Carolina Senators respectfully requesting that they not support Sen. Cornyn or Sen. Thune for Majority Leader. Suggested that they support Sen. Scott instead.
Thank you for this post Sundance. Godspeed …
Rino season.
Anyone up for reelection in 2026 needs to be relieved of their globalist duties.
They have sided against those who elected President Trump in favor of their masters.
Remember the traitors to Trump the next time they beg you for money so they “can fight for you”. My own Senator Hawley just became the poster boy for term limits by not supporting Rick Scott. Why? Per his own statement, Cornyn supported his election, so he will vote for Cornyn. Sounds a whole lot like a politician who can be bought. I will never vote for Hawley again. Ever. Contact your senator while there is still time, and tell them that unless they also won 51% of the popular vote nationwide, you expect them to support the ONLY candidate who will support Turmp – Rick Scott. Also tell your senator you are appalled by the idea they would do a secret ballot. Every vote they take should be known to voters. How. Dare. They. Act. In. Secret. – Cyndia Haggard, Vernon County Missouri Republican Central Committee Chair
Thanks Cyndia !
Time is short. Hawley is a traitor, all show. How dare these Senators rob The People of our Vote and advance their own agenda.
We meant it when we said We Support PDJTs Agenda for a Free, Strong and Fiscal America.
We should tell Sen. Josh Hawley this reeks of Paul Ryan campaigning to repeal and replace ObamaCare with plans waiting in the wings, only to turn around and say we have no alternative to OCare so we have nothing to vote on. A vote for Cornyn is McConnell REDUX. He cannot do this or he will lose support. Urge him to stick with the program, and vote for Rick Scott. This suggestion comes from Sally Zelikovsky of 75M & Rising. She organized the Bay Area Patriots, and the San Francisco Tea Party. Her articles are in the America Thinker, and most recently, in Frontpagemag com. You can also find her on substack. Unlike Biden I quote my sources, and do not plagiarize. Also, you can reach your senator at: https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm We should all urge them to vote for Sen. Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader.
Trump knows exactly what McConnell was all about. Great on judges for one. Thune is an acolyte but he is no McConnell.
DJT is perfectly capable of “managing” Thune by working with him on his priorities as long as Thune works with him on Americas priorities. “That’s a nice leadership position you have there John. It would be a shame to waste the opportunity to show how you are different than McConnell, and at the same time get the support of the voters and senators who agreed with my policies.”
Now the ball is in Thunes court. Will he fumble it or score?
As a long-time follower, first-time poster here, I just want to say how grateful I am
to Sundance and all of you amazing Treepers who have kept me informed, sane, even able to maintain a sense of humor through the insanity of the last four years! Thank you! You are the best!
I wanted to share what I’ve written to my NC Senators
(Tillis, supporting Thune; Budd, supporting Cornyn)
in case anyone finds it helpful in creating their own versions:
Thom Tillis, you were BLESSED to be re-elected by a narrow margin to a second term in the Senate. Now the good people of NC who installed you have a right to expect you to act with integrity and transparency under the guiding principles of truth and duty.
1. You know for a fact that both Thune and Cornyn will undermine the mandate given to President Trump by the American people for whom you work. That is both their history and their underlying objective going forward. You know that Rick Scott is the ONLY candidate of the three under consideration that will support
the agenda for which your constituents voted — and which they fully expect and deserve after the desecration our country has suffered for the last four years. You must make a public endorsement of, and vote for, Rick Scott.
2. Every single vote taken in the Senate should be known to the American people. Every vote. Secret balloting is unacceptable—especially in matters of such a critical nature. What Senator McConnell is doing is appalling!
It is said that “People who have nothing to hide, hide nothing.” This coup, the antithesis of transparency, is not lost on your constituency. You work for us. We elected you. We deserve full disclosure on where you stand because every Senator needs to be accountable for what he or she supports. Each of your decisions will either carry forward our mandate or hamstring the President’s ability to do what he has been asked, which is the will of the people. Your vote is your will, and telegraphs to us exactly where you stand on these matters and whether or not you are aligned with the peoples’ will. And, every time measures are taken to purposely keep us from being informed, we must assume that there is, indeed, fear of exposure. Please vote with integrity — in secret or otherwise — according to the sacred trust the people of North Carolina have placed in you.

God bless America!
We need to tell Rick Scott – if he does not get the Leadership, then he needs to be that one Senator that objects to business being continued without the Senate being present.
If only ONE Senator had the courage to speak up against being in business while the Senate was not present during PTrump’s last term, he would have had his recess appointments.
Here’s looking at the MAGA Senators to speak up. Or are they going to buckle because Thune/Cornyn threaten their committee assignments and/or bill recognition?
Remember that Scott took office in 2019 and was not that ONE Senator in the last half of Trump’s first term.
Sheep’s clothing, and all that.
Thune is defiantly beating his breast by telling PDJT to stay out of the selection process. He knows he can do it with impunity as McConnell’s long time, hand picked successor in a highly controlled Senate inner-sanctum party process.
I am doubtful of the new leader allowing recess appointments, although Thune, Scott, and Cornyn have all explicitly supported expeditiously filling cabinet positions. This issue was contentious in PDJT’s first term, and the Republican senators towed McConnell’s line of refusal. The majority leader leopard may change his name, but not his spots.
I am disappointed that Scott has such little support among his peers, but I am not surprised.
All of those Senators under duress to vote for Thune or Cornyn must really have some bad things they want to keep hidden!
So, they may think they have managed to keep a lid on things but the public speculation will build and the sickening odor of corruption will pervade the atmosphere.
“Mendacity” as referred to in “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof”.
Thune is a better choice than Cornyn.
They are both bad.
Senator Kennedy said this is a fake document… calling senators using the Congressional DC switchboard 2022243121 (public record) from A to Z and oh so many voicemail centers are already full…
Thune has no right to lead We the Peoples’ Senate! He demanded in a 2016 video that President Trump drop out of the race and allow Mike Pence / Benedict Arnold to step in. And most recent video shows Thune adamantly stating he hopes there are candidates other than Trump
A vote for Senator Scott is a vote for the Trump MAGA Agenda…
If a Senator you have donated to does not publicly commit to voting for Rick Scott as Senate Leader, you can go and refund your donation to them via Winred.
Or if they will not provide an answer.
Simply go to the chat box in the lower right hand corner and ask to refund a contribution. They do very much notice refunds………………………https://support.winred.com/en/?q=Refunds
If you donated directly, send the campaign an email asking for your donation back. Don’t let money laundering @ Smurfing Mitch McConnell screw us with a Senate leader who is anti-Trump.
Rick Scott is the only choice, of the three. Share pls
Even Ingraham is speaking out that people didn’t vote to have “little clubs” in the Senate.
Glad my favorite KY Senator supports Scott.
