Why are tax payers expected to pay to replace homes built in places that are regularly wiped out by coastal storms or mountain floods?
Those whole build and rent in these areas should be liable for damages to their victims, and the renters are not properly forwarned and evacuated when the eventuality happens.
One story that sticks in my craw is the couple who bought 4 houses along the river, rented them as AirBnBs, and now whine that their business is destroyed and taxpayers should pay for rebuilding houses that everykne knows will flood again.
That couple should be held liable for death, injury or damages to anyone they rented to.

Extensive flooding for an extended period at this time forced the city to take all structures down along the river.
1. Those people in NC do not live in a flood zone.
2. That was at least a 1 in 100 year event in those mountains. It is far from common for floods to happen in these mountains.
3. While there is merit in the coastal assertion, most pay FEMA flood insurance for protection.

There are thousands of those homes that are nowhere near rivers that are being prevented from receiving assistance.
If an argument wants to be made for a few homes on a river only, fine.
But there is no legitimate excuse for those folks on top of or sides of mountains, ot away from the river to be denied aid.

Come to find out that getting permits DENIED to RE-build after a fire is as simple as LAFD claiming that a “new build” could impede and impact their emergency response times or really “whatever”.
Properties then get snatched up by the usual suspects – for nickels on the dollar.
As an FYI Dutch, the areas in question are in Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and Northwest South Carolina. They were built OUTSIDE the federal government’s 500 year flood plain and due to the fact that they were outside said flood plain, they couldn’t get flood insurance. Additionally, many were wiped out not by flooding, but by rivers of mud that came pouring down off the mountains where they trees were wiped out. Most of the families have lived there for HUNDREDS of years. One family that had 4 generations of LIVING members before the storm lost 11 members of their family that day.
The government hasn’t been doing squat except threatening them. They were left to die. If it wasn’t for neighbors helping neighbors, a large concentration of veterans pouring into the area to help, and common, everyday people from across the nation helping, even more than have would have died and its day to day for many still.

As an FYI – my original post above wasn’t about the government providing or needing to provide housing. The truth be known most of the people would just as soon the government stay the hell away at this point as they have done nothing but cause problems, stolen donations, wasted $10s of millions, threatened to take children and land, and virtue signaled. The main time to help was in the first week when the government COULD HAVE performed SAR operations and provided supplies in order to survive – but did NOT.
It is about the reality that they haven’t done squat, that while they virtue signaled about a single mobile home being moved in – hundreds of tiny homes and RVs have been donated or built and thousands of tents have been donated – along with food, clothing, and heating. The sad fact remains that much work is left to do before winter.
Yet through it all 100s of billions of dollars are spent on f* illegal aliens and on Ukraine and other countries across the world.
I have lived on the coast for decades ….we have not seen the threat after threat …..that is of late. While I am 3 miles inland it is right on the Gulf that most damage occurs. Would you be surprised to know that in my state most of the claims and $$$ paid out by insurance occurs in counties 100+ miles north of the Gulf.

The mountains that form the backbone of the Blue Ridge area do hold the world’s purest form of quartz, vital for and used by the integrated circuit manufacturers the world over for the crucibles that silicon crystals are formed in that are the basis of modern electronics. Currently there is only one mine but there is little reason to think it would be the only area in the region for either of the two. There is also the possibility for a number of other vital minerals in the Appalachia’s with the potential for untold wealth if discovered and mined. The people that have inhabited much of the area since before the forming of our nation wouldn’t allow it.
The Quartz there may be the key to many mysteries of that gorgeous and special region friend.
Trump should arrange to build them houses in Ashville. That will stop this crap.
Pull 1/2 of the US troops on active duty in Germany OUT and return them to the USA to Appalachia to assist in recovery efforts.
Keep them there as long as needed – then forget to send them back to Europe…

FEMA has been the subject of many posts here during the last couple of days. I have been in contact, via phone calls and texts, with someone on the ground in North Carolina—a private-sector volunteer. This person is making deliveries to the folks in the mountains who have no transportation. He uses his truck, loaded with supplies. He told me that he regularly gets “turned around” by FEMA, meaning they will not let him pass on a mountain road on his way to deliver supplies. He knows how to get around their $#@%ery so it doesn’t stop him. Sometimes a delay though.
Two days ago, he texted me with an urgent need for waterproof rubber boots. (I was able to help with this which will be a separate post.) He gave me the specs. I had seven pair shipped yesterday and plans are in the works for more. When I told him they would be delivered Fed-X, he was so grateful and said that the minute they come in, he will deliver. He said, to be honest, some of the boots are going to volunteers, that they are having many health issues from working in the mud and water. The sludge eats through the soles of their footwear (we have heard this reported before). Also problems with skin on upper legs when they have to wade hip-deep. He wanted to leave it at that, but I pressed. Wish I had not! He said he personally knows of foot amputation(s?)—maybe more than one but I couldn’t process fast enough what he was saying. Of course, I have no way to verify this, but he was distraught. He also offered to provide me with photo/video proof of delivery of the boots when they arrive.
So, FEMA, what have YOU done to help those in the mountains? Their Trump signs (/sarc) were washed away so why didn’t you stop?
This is an environmental disaster area. Is there any federal help with that? Have I missed the news? I hope that I have.

I doubt I’m the only one who is no longer hyper focused on water purification, generator, self-defense, stocking supplies, IRS knocking or other three letter agencies battering down my door for some imagined wrong – or none at all, etc. For years I have had these thoughts in the back of my mind while going about my life.
I know there are still threats; I saw another dairy was broken into with a battering ram a day or two after the election, but the weight has eased.

I’m seriously considering bringing a notice to my doctor stating I want no medication given to me in any form which contains mRNA. I want it prominently displayed in my record.

Unfortunately there are some in the medical profession that will – and have – given people injections without their knowledge (mainly nurses). I am at the point that I have zero trust for the vast majority of the treatment/pharmaceutical industrial complex, including most doctors.
