There is precedent for withholding federal dollars from states/municipalities that don’t follow federal laws.
In the mid 80s when I was “coming of age” the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) movement was a very forceful presence. Their agenda included a nationwide drinking age of 21. Ohio, due to its powerful liquor and beer lobby, refused to bump beer and wine to 21. Until, that is, the Feds started to withhold Dept of Transportation highway dollars from the state.
Ohio folded at that point like a cheap lawn chair. I remember because I was grandfathered in by about a week and became the beer supply guy in my freshman dorm.

Hello Treepers, want to run this by all of you even though I think I already know the answer. Situation is this – have a long time friend (think 50+ years) who contacted me after the election of President DJT last week, extremely upset that America had picked a criminal and a rapist as President. I gently reminded them that I said months ago that DJT would win. “Yes, I know, but I did not want to believe you” was the reply.
Discussion ensues back and forth (violatng my own long standing rule never to discuss politics with friends) when a long text arrives basically accusing President DJT of being a convicted rapist, a convicted felon, a criminal, a terrible person, and so on. This from a person who admits to only reading liberal news should be expected, I guess. I attempted to dissuade this (probably now former) friend that any of those accusations were true, explaining lawfare etc. and how each of those cases would either be dismissed by the prosecutors, overturned by a higher court on appeal, or overturned at the Supreme Court in the near future. Days pass and yesterday two more very long and unhinged text msgs arrive accusing me of being uncaring, unfeeling, and extremely hurtful by ignoring what are (in their mind) obvious truths about President DJT and his (supposed) crimes.
So here is the question – is there a website other than CTH of course where one could point liberal friends and say “Go read this, and this and this and get back to me”?
