Va is as blue as CA. Northern VA us DC annex. Their million dollar homes depend on their fat salaries from the taxpayer trough. Add Richmond, Norfolk, Portsmouth and Newport News (minority majority) and Charlottesville (UVA snowflakes) and VA Beach (white affluents) and the rest of VA is hosed. Glenn Youngkin won but that’s because McAuliff threatened Northern Virginia’s posh public schools. They make the commute to DC so THEIR kids don’t have to go to school in DC.
VA is definitely not as blue as CA! I live in CA and dingbat will take CA by around 20 points, she will not take VA, if she does, by no more than 5 points.

I am obsessed with VA! I track back and forth through counties and districts. Looks to me like they are holding Fairfax results. The thing that concerns me is CAO down 5%. I do not see split ballots. CAO so superior to Kaine. The VA site updates every few min. However, the conservative belt down the western side still has lots of results to go.

Polls closed at 7:30 pm. No last minute voters, thankfully. I stayed to help with equipment take down and re-arranging the room to be as it was originally and finally left my observer post at 8:30 as the precinct judge was doing the final tally of ballots used, ballots remaining (including the voided ones) vs. the number that were given to the precinct, making sure there were no stray ballots.
The most enlightening observation I can add to this thread is that my precinct has an obesity problem. Not just over-weight. Obesity. If the parade of people throughout the US follows the same pattern I watched today, there is a HUGE problem.
The obesity problem is fueled by the horrendous food supply. High calorie, low nutrition food is cheaper. Let’s hope RFK Jr. can help with this.

Also, IIRC, DeSantis cleaned house and fired some of the election officials that kept corrupting the races down there. Before he was governor, there was always drama in Broward County and Miami-Dade, or hanging chads, or whatever. With Jeb! wringing his hands ineffectually as governor… Once DeSantis took over and did a reorg, they became a model state that got their votes tallied easily and on time. I just keep remembering 2020 when PDJT was leading in swing states at 11:00. A bit later, I was heading to bed when I heard someone say that voting had been halted in GA. Then other states, 5 total that I remember, followed suit for various lame reasons. It was so unusual and alarming that did not end up going to bed and sat and watched the vote totals flip rapidly and got more sick to my stomach as the night wore on. I knew what was happening. It was so obvious to me. And it was allowed to go on. Ugh.
So, I have a little ptsd to overcome tonight which is why I am only randomly checking CTH to see what’s happening. I will wait until there is no doubt at all that we have walked our PDJT across the winning finish line.
