The leaders of the European Union are nervous about President Trump: (1) ending the war in Ukraine, and then (2) ending the Marshal Plan, thereby taxing their exports to the U.S as Trump demands tariff reciprocity; and lastly (3) forcing them to pay for their previous NATO commitments.
Brussels has set up a defensive office within the EU bureaucracy called “The Trump Task Force.”
BRUSSELS — Top European Union officials have met with the bloc’s ambassadors to talk through what it would mean if Donald Trump wins the U.S. election, 12 EU diplomats told POLITICO.
“They’re worried about trade but mostly [about] Ukraine,” one of the diplomats said, adding that Brussels foresees “abrupt changes on U.S. policy even before the inauguration.” The diplomat, like others quoted in this piece, was granted anonymity to speak candidly.
The conversations revolved around two areas of uncertainty should the Republican candidate reclaim the White House: Whether Washington would continue to support Ukraine and the prospect of higher U.S. tariffs for all incoming goods.

“They don’t take our cars, they don’t take our farm products, don’t take anything. You have a $312 billion deficit with the EU. You know, the EU is a mini — but not so mini — is a mini China,” he said.
Three of the diplomats said that the discussions also touched upon the EU’s relations with China, with Trump set to antagonize Beijing even more. The meetings involve six Commission departments and cover topics such as trade, energy and digital policy — areas that could experience turbulence if Trump returns to the White House. (read more)

Start some sort of military conflict with Europe. Things will change very rapidly and it will take care of itself. Europe is on punch in the nose away from total chaos.
If NATO were disbanded I suspect that Putin and Russia would settle down rather quickly. There is long historical precedence to Europe trying to take over Russia but NATO was the strongest military force threatening them to date.
Since the Medieval period there has been a major intra-European conflict about every 75-100 years.
It has been 79 years since the end of World War Two.
I would further note that Germany, Poland, and other central/eastern European governments began publicly squawking over the post war territorial adjustments once it became clear the present Ukrainian state would not survive in its current configuration.
The horrors of war have all but passed from living memory, the underlying cultural tensions have not, the collapse of Ukraine is causing massive instability, and the United States’ ability to project power is rapidly in decline.
Chaos is a finger tap away, to say nothing of a punch.
Let Russia have it. The Euro and Blackrock group should not be rewarded the spoils of their filthy war. Shame on them.
Russia doesn’t want Europe. They have loads of territory, dozens of diverse ethnicities/religions.
They have the same goals as they had in February, 2022 which include protection of their national security and fair treatment and equal rights of ethnic Russians.
The only thing that is different is that they now claim the 4 regions that voted to join Russia – and that is entirely the fault of the EU refusing to enforce the Minsk accords.
This issue I am raising is not about what Russia takes from Ukraine, but rather what will happen when other European states, particularly Poland and Germany, realize there are opportunities to recover historical territories from a Ukrainian rump state.
The issues which rose in 2022-23 stemmed from Poland flirting with the idea of re-incorporating most if not all of western Ukraine (historic Silesia) into the modern Polish state. This in turn began some chatter in Germany about recovering historic territories (Prussia, eastern Germany) from what is now western Poland.
To point out the resurfacing of these historical tensions is not to advocate for US intervention, but to warn about the sort of conflicts which will begin to rise as the post-WWII, US-dominated world order begins decaying.
Just take a look at a map of Germany and Poland circa 1939 overlaid on a modern map of the region.

We did give half of Eastern Europe to Russia after WWII, you forgot about that small thing. This enabled us to have a cold war enemy, Russia, for 40 years. Then when the USSR collapsed and the “Wall” came down, we continued to isolate Russia as untrustworthy and expand NATO.
There really was no good reason to keep NATO going after the 1980’s or not to reach out to the new Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Russia is still demonized to this day. They may deserve condemnation, but our own government appears to have been involved in some dark things as well, for no good reason but because they can.
If peace is the plan, it can be had. Look what happened when Trump became President. No war.
We gave 1/3 of Europe to USSR. We left it in shambles. We rebuilt France, Western Germany and England with the Marshal plan…and continuee to give them what ever they want.
We are funding a war with Russia with a non NATO Country. Western Europe is supporting a non NATO Country. NATO has become the enemy. Yes, NATO is the war machine and the US is driving it.
NATO shouldn’t have been created to begin with.
