This is a little bit unusual, and I don’t generally recommend going to a bizarro leftist narrative article for full review; however, in this case it is worth it.
Politico has written an article about FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, saying disinformation about the federal government response to Hurricane Helene, “is absolutely the worst I have ever seen,” Criswell told reporters on a Tuesday morning call. “It’s creating distrust in the federal government, but also the state government, and we have so many first responders that have been working to go out and help these communities,” she added. {link}
However, if you go read the article fraught with pearl-clutching and protestation, you might curiously discover there is not a single citation for any claimed “disinformation.” {SEE HERE} It is very odd to see FEMA and by extension Politico in their defense, claiming that massive disinformation is running rampant, and yet they do not cite a single example of the disinformation they claim to exist. Seriously, no joke – GO LOOK.
If you are an intellectually honest observer of government, you are left with the question: where is this disinformation you speak of?
Most of the shared examples of FEMA’s failures have been with full citation, presented with factual information – raw source attribution and audio/visuals of FEMA officials on the ground in Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina to bolster the claims. In short, all the claims against FEMA are specifically cited; however, all of the deflective justifications and denials are not.
Perhaps this is simply the state of current federal government. Whereby, thousands of individual citizens are giving real-time examples of what FEMA is doing and not doing, while FEMA (from DC) claims all of the citations and examples are “disinformation.”
It is all very Orwellian, and reminds me of something:

Put another way, the people on the ground are telling the truth about the current state of affairs. The interests of FEMA are antithetical to the truth, so they label the truth “disinformation.” And that’s that.
If you don’t know, this could help – understanding even this much can be a real stretch. It’s one person’s thoughts on a low cost 72 hour bug out bag for survival in emergencies. One can put it together over time if funds are super tight – break it up over a 4 or 5 purchases over time. For the littlest ones add in baby food or formula, warm clothes, changing supplies (put aside a couple wipes and wraps a week).
When I was recommending people put together some emergency kits, no matter where they live, I got many replies going “Uhhhh actually some people are poor and can’t afford to be prepared”
So I decided to go out and prove them wrong
For $115 (Minus the price of the rucksack, as you can use literally any bag without having to break the bank) I put together a very basic 72h emergency kit for 2 people.
This does not include all the items recommended- the rest are just plain household items you should have, like a change of clothes, extra socks, copies of all important documents, some basic toiletries, and a few other items. Some of these items are not “the best item in this category” and that is because we had a strict budget to follow. I’ll break down the choices in the following thread, and feel free to add some suggestions, but keep in mind this is intended to be an extreme budget kit.

Lot of areas without clean water at this point – one area will be without their treatment plant for several YEARS per NC legislature. This is a good time to share some info about solar stills to make purified water. They work using the sun to heat the water, causing evaporation, which condenses on glass, then dripping off one edge to a catchment pipe.

This image illustrates the core aspects of the most common type. One can also use pans or pails in the bottom to hold the water to be evaporated (shallow levels of water so the sun heats it up quicker) if there isn’t solid, safe insulation to use (my personal view is a preference for metal or stoneware water holders – don’t trust for any solid insulation to not have chemicals these days).
ps. Old fashion copper stills work well for creating fresh water as well. Heat is then supplied by a fire (lots of wood in the woods) and the rate of production is much higher.
Note: Don’t put a fire under a solar still – unless it’s made of all metal. Don’t want to catch it on fire 😉

I really hate to have to report this. But the suic*de rate in Western North Carolina has SKYROCKETED in the ten days since Helene.
I’ve spoken with officials from multiple counties who have confirmed this to me.
People who have lost everything, ended up trapped, had no communications with the outside world, no food or water, and nobody came to help them.
It’s INFURIATING.
These people were the victim of a government coverup and the Harris Biden regime slow walked the response so that the media would ignore the problem.
It COST INNOCENT LIVES.
My heart breaks for these folks. Private citizens are the ones restoring hope for victims. The government is doing the opposite.

Had the opportunity to deliver around 15 thousand pounds of supplies to western North Carolina.
We knew we had to do something once we realized that the government was allowing American citizens to suffer and die without helping them, worse than that the government has been actively impeding attempts to rescue and provide supplies to those in need.
We can all guess why that is. It’s been truly heart warming to see how many American’s from all walks of life have stepped up to help out.
We are a country made up of the most amazing people. We must preserve this American spirit. The devastation really cannot be overstated.
I don’t really have words to describe how bad it is. I’m guessing the death toll (once honestly reported) will be one of the highest in American history.
Would wager it will be the highest when considered over all the states effected.
