Yeah that’s the problem as I see it. I don’t claim to know the exact math, but a 1-2 pt polling advantage in places like PA, WI, MI, AZ still concerns me.
Every election in my lifetime has been a contest of some sort. But there was never any tension around it. Your side wins, your side loses, and somehow America manages not to break. Hurricane Helene did not show the effect of climate change, but what happens to settlements in Tennessee Valley tributaries under “natural” flooding (i.e. where flood control dams have been rejected.)

The article above actually says “for the most part” the dams accomplished their task. One near failure doesn’t negate the success of the system. A post mortem should include an examination of water management in that reservoir, i.e. were they hoarding water at a level higher than would allow the flood alleviation at that reservoir? Or was it just local waters in a rare event overwhelmed the dam? It still mitigated the effects of the flood by witholding water until it overflowed.

The article outlines the many problems we are about to have with the upcoming elections. The states have made a total mess of having honest fair elections just to protect some, the Democrats say, are being disenfranchised because the do not have a picture I.D. At least that’s how it started many years ago. The Covid came along and massive mail-in voting is now the norm.
And this doesn’t even address the issues with the electronic voting machines that can be easily hacked and votes changed.
I think the Supreme Court owns a lot of this since they ruled a state doesn’t having standing to sue another state when they do not follow federal election laws. And, I think a state Supreme Court has ruled it’s voters cannot sue the state when illegals are voting because they do not have Standing-they can’t prove they have been harmed.
Our election process in the U.S. is laughable, but unfortunately, going to destroy our country.

Dang. We were vacationing at Lake Lure when the storm hit. The VRBO lost power, water, internet, cellular service early Friday am.
After assessing our potable water situation, we knew we had to get out Saturday morning. And we did.
We drove over and under downed power lines and trees and mud covered roads (which were probably officially closed) using an old paper map, and got directions from a Polk County road crew when we reached a dead end. Thank God they didn’t threaten to arrest us for being out on closed roads.
My heart aches for folks who didn’t or couldn’t get out and are depending on rescue efforts.
What was this Lake Lure fire chief thinking to threaten this pilot with arrest?!

The level of involvement by Norman Eisen in the legal attacks on President Trump almost defies belief

Today we’d like to introduce you – or possibly re-introduce you – to a man named Norman Eisen. Eisen, a Brookings senior fellow, Obama’s former White House Ethics Czar and Ambassador to Czechoslovakia during the “Velvet Revolution,” has been behind the ongoing Lawfare that has targeted Trump throughout his presidency, through the Biden Regime and into the present date.
Eisen, who was also the co-founder of Leftist non-profit CREW or Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, has been one of the key architects of the Lawfare attacks on President Trump and he continues to lead the behind-the-scenes efforts to push ongoing legal actions against Trump to this day.
Eisen played a lead role in the pre- 2020 election war games which just happened to predict a remarkably accurate contested election scenario that ended unfavorably for Trump. Eisen is also the author of the highly influential color revolution manual, the Democracy Playbook and was one of the primary forces behind the first impeachment of Trump.
We’ve written about Eisen a number of times but when we were asked about him recently–in connection with a new viral video clip in which he admits that Trump’s first impeachment was designed to deflect from Hunter Biden’s laptop–we realized that we’d never walked readers sequentially through a timeline of Eisen’s actions. Only when Eisen’s actions are looked at in timeline form does one realize just how pervasively (and effectively) Eisen’s been involved in the attacks on Trump.

The Harris campaign put out a video about Walz when he joined the ticket showing him railing against gun [sic], saying: “We can make sure that those weapons of war, that I carried in war, is the only place where those weapons are at.”
Obviously, he never carried weapons in a war because he was never in a war.
The lie aside — what kind of badass, battle-hardened combat veteran supports gun control? Will the Democrats’ next macho man be David Hogg? (The demographic categories most likely to support Second Amendment rights are: Men, whites, non-college educated and gun owners — which Walz allegedly is. Of course, he’s also allegedly a man.) Democrats must really be running low on white men. They should try going to an NRA meeting.
Soy-boy, metrosexual, cowing down to the feministas who couldn’t “man up” if they had to. So Walz had a job “traditionally” held by women. I can just imagine him gossiping with the girls in the teachers lounge.
I haven’t read Ann Coulter for a while, ever since she started slamming Trump. Apparently, throwing rhetorical bombs at everyone generates more readers, but ends up emboldening the opposition and discouraging supporters. She’s just another grifter fading into irrelevance.
She must have read my previous post on the debate thread. Walz is there view of the 60 year old voter. What an insult. At least Vance represents our younger generation role model.

But let me start with the first thing that jumps out at me: The document is signed as pictured below. There is no mention that Jack Smith and his subordinates are at the U.S. Department of Justice.
As if you needed any better indication that they regard themselves as an extra-constitutional Fourth Branch of government. They are no longer listing their institutional affiliation.
(Though they list their address as that building that many DOJ alums call “Main Justice” at 9th and Pennsylvania Aves., or more formally the Robert F. Kennedy Justice Building. Presumably, the name of the building is not used (and I can tell you that is standard on DOJ court filings coming out of Main Justice) because in either variant of the building’s name DOJ would have to use the word “Justice.”)
Now stop to think why Jack Smith might have done this: It raises the question of whether use of any Justice Department organ to go after a former President of the United States is constitutional and could comport with the Supreme Court’s July 1, 2024 immunity decision in Trump v. United States.

So students on foreign visas could continue to take classes online from anywhere in the world just so colleges could continue to receive non-resident tuition dollars.

I live in northern Illinois, but would prefer to cross the border, if legal, to be a poll watcher in Wisconsin. Any other ideas?

Yes, I recall their house and buildings are on a good bluff or cut into the mountain. If mountain held up, they would be above the water. The road is between them and the river. The road is probably washed out. You could probably throw a rock or at minimum a golf ball hit to the river.

My take on much of the damage to infrastructure and property is that the affected areas have been prone to catastrophic flooding, due to topography, geology, river drainage, soil, vegetation, and other natural factures. The Helene storm was probably a 100-year or more event. Rare in terms of human lifetimes, but not in terms of geological time. After all, the Appalachian Mountains are the result of millions of years of erosion.
As with other areas in the US that are subject to natural disasters (coast lines, forested areas, floodplains), society needs to re-think how it uses “higher-risk” land for human activity. Access to natural beauty comes at a cost.
Looking at that and the physiological “makeup” ( they are mostly “white” ) of what appear to be “locals”, milling about looking at the devastation – I have no doubt and feel down in my soul that…That storm was deliberately formed and steered right on top of them.
Nothing on God’s green Earth will ever make me think differently.
It’s disheartening and sad – nearly beyond words – to “know” this was done.

People are seriously resisting the painful reality that whoever “They” are DON’T CARE.
As long as we can be kept divided and ignorant, we are nothing. I don’t even believe they want us dead.
It’s worse.
To the power structure, WE DON’T EXIST.
If some of us become bothersome, they just give pest control a call.
Just look at the sudden flurry of “election fraud” issues that are surfacing even in mainstream media. The only reason this is happening is they can use these issues, which they can no longer bury, to create post election chaos and throw everything into the courts and Congress to resolve. They are confident they can control the outcome there.
They tried to keep us ignorant, but the groundswell has breached their defenses. But they use our instinct to want to be left alone and live our lives against us. So, we will be placated, lulled back to sleep by “fixing the problem” with smoke and mirrors, subdued, and locked back into our little boxes.
The only cavalry coming to save the republic is US.
