Depending upon how a record deal is/can be structured. A “new” act will get one LP “guarantee” that includes recoupable advance monies and/or an LP recording budget if signed to a “production” deal wherein the artist is once removed from the record company that will market and release the prodcut.
In extremely(!!) rare cases they might negotiate a TWO LP deal as “guaranteed” to be funded ( ie production and marketing costs are “advanced” ). But any reference to a long term deal today is limited to the length of any “personal services” contractually structured deal.
Usually seven years or LP’s with any “option to renew ( another LP period ) the right to induce performance ( i.e. record new stuff ) is always at the behest/demand/ask of the record label. The refusal by the artist to comply with any demand for more product places the artist in “breach” of said contract if notified during the subsequent contract “term”.
This all may have changed in minimally different boilerplate contractual language currently, with so many record produced “independently” since I negotiated and/or was involved in such deals.
But my point is that there are no “10 LP deals”. Courts ruled ages ago that is akin to indentured servitude.

Well, if she’d had and one with massive success. She’d easily have won a lawsuit on term of the deal. The one thing I find unsurprising about that report, is that of all record deals; R&B/HipHop ( more recently yet equally onerous ) deals have for 75+ years been onerous in ways far worse even than a comparable “white” act would be forced to honor. At least in the U.S.
Coincidentally(?) a case comes to mind of Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds who with L.A. Reid ( who is prominently named in the Diddler Affair as close confidantes and…? ) an act they had signed “Pebbles” who had some hits who then signed the R&B group “TLC” to her OWN “Pebbitone Records”. TLC after many hits claimed that Pebbles not only mismanaged millions of dollars due them, but paid a royalty of only .5 cents per LP .
Aside from the fact that I was trying to illustrate how an onerous record deal with an unenforceable term ( eg a TEN LP ) contract would and could be broken claiming usurious terms etc.
I also mention those people “LA Reid, Andre Harrell ( Uptown Records and MCA ) and Kenny Edmonds ( Babyface ) as they were thick as thieves with The Diddler. It’s a very small world at the “top” of that genre.
If Cassie Ventura never had a second LP. Then she presumably never got any advance monies and the deal would have been allowed to “lapse”.
But then when she brought suit against the Diddler the day after than infamous video of Combs beating her was seen by the world, he literally “settled” the lawsuit brought by her, the very next day. That settlement had to be in the millions of dollars.

Cassie Ventura’s case with Diddler as I understand it from less even than a cursory read of it had little if anything at all to do with her deal, although she named his entities and always are included any connected entities which is why she would name him personally, Bad Boy ( the Corp ) and even a distributing entity, say “Universal Music” or whomever Diddler had HIs “deals” with.
The more named in an upward arc, the more impetus to settle by the number of parties named, well before any adjudication is commenced. As I just mentioned also –
Cassie Ventura’s Lawsuit against Combs and the “labels” was settled within hours literally of being brought. That just tells us how culpable for whatever monetary damages might eventually be awarded Combs felt he would be found liable for.
