I think I’ve settled on a Concealed Carry weapon. Though I’ve had the permit for a long time I never have been one for carrying concealed much. But the way things are going in this world that’s going to change and if I’m going to be carrying all the time I need a pistol that is practical and comfortable for that purpose. This is a pretty good deal with the optical sight. I looked at multiple reviews on Youtube and minimal negative comments and the ones they’ve made had nothing to do with the function or dependability or accuracy of this firearm.

Had a similar conversation over lunch with my best friend today. I’ve been gently suggesting that she begin carrying a gun. Although she has a decade of martial-arts training, she’s also in her mid 70’s. I will add that most of the women in my life have had enough scary encounters (usually in parking lots) that I’m having some success talking to them about being armed.
I think the Ruger Max 9 you’ve chosen is a good choice, both for you and for my dear friend. I adhere to the NRA dictum that stresses that if you must defend yourself, it best to have a gun. My choice, made shortly after Sandy Hook, is also a Ruger. In my case it is a LCP model in .380. What I like about my choice is how discrete it is to carry. Simply put, this tiny little handgun just disappears when I put it in my cargo shorts pocket. Happily, although I’ve had a couple of almost-bad encounters, my gun-of-choice has remained in my pocket.

Found through experience that unless one has sufficient grip strength to comfortably and reliably cycle the slide all the way to the rear on the micro autos then they are not a good fit for some.
Suggest ladies and anyone else for that matter try pulling slide all the way to the rear on the Max 9, LC 9, EC 9s or the like in other manufacturers BEFORE purchasing them. Try them at the local gun store before purchasing even if you purchase somewhere else.
A good alternative is the tried and true 5 shot .38 (“chiefs”) Special 2 or 3 inch barrel by Smith and Wesson or Colt. Beware the air weight models with small grips. The old design soaks up recoil instead of transferring it to your hand like the Taurus 5 shot air weights or equivalent which I do not recommend.
Lastly the Ruger Max 9 or LC 9/EC 9s are excellent choices if you are proficient with them. Small enough that you will actually carry them and easily concealable but with a full 9mm effectiveness.
In an example of extremes it would be far better to have a .44 Magnum in an encounter of the dangerous kind but that is such a bear to carry it would probably be in the house or the vehicle instead of where it was needed most which is on your person.

The US is saying that they managed to restrain Israel to only do a limited operation by the border to clear up infrastructure that endangers Israel and the forces will go out. The facts that State Department of the US is saying what the IDF is doing when the enemy doesn’t know is very bad. Anyways, we have the fog of war. Israel could use misdirectors. stay tuned.
