O’Keefe and his team members went to the homes of Vermont Border Patrol chiefs to inquire about a whistleblower report that Border Patrol agents were protecting child trafficking operations. One initially denied who he was. When shown his photo, he fled. Another would not talk. The third had a group of agents surrounding his house and who prevented any questioning. O’Keefe and crew were arrested for blocking a state highway, although they were parked on a city street, in part because of the blockade of the street by Border Patrol agents. There sure is a lot of smoke. The border patrol leaders’ behavior reeks like full involvement.

I don’t know why people like to build houses that are crowded onto the shoreline. I like to visit the ocean, but I purposely live hundreds of miles away from it.
Nevertheless: Mme. Helene dumped 7-1/2″ inches of rain here (northwest Georgia) within the space of 12 hours. And, to the east of here, considerably more. She was definitely “a wet one.” My house sits on a hill and cannot get flooded. But others were not so fortunate.
Although I agree with your sentiment, the Florida communities listed in the linked article do not fit the description. These are small towns with very few expensive homes. This area has no white sand beaches and no actual “tourist attractions.” Average income of the three communities is around $50,000. Population is hard-working blue-collar and fishermen.
Change the insurance system, yes.
Pray for all around the country who are suffering loss from Helene.
The homes shown in that aerial video looked incredibly expensive and they most certainly were built where no home should even be built.
I have no idea what the rest of that community looks like and neither I nor that video referred to it.
The linked video is eight months old and none of those properties appear to be located in the affected area of Florida’s north-west Gulf coast. (The mountains are a clue.)
I still totally agree with the need to revise the insurance guidelines for homes built in areas prone to damages from natural causes. Homeowner makes the decision – homeowner pays for that decision.

Having now looked at the Tik Tok video from Sassafrass, I see very little in what I would call really expensive homes. Our experiences are very likely to result in different frames of reference.
Many of the larger structures are motels, about half of the remaining structures are mobile homes. (I’m familiar with that spot and those details aren’t readily discerned from an aerial shot.)
Anyhow, we still agree on a problem which needs fixing.

Yeah, I think I was going by the motels/hotels. The homes on their incredibly long stilts don’t look that fancy.
That community has long been a “go to” destination for recreational fishermen. Some of the motels are (were) combination motel and marina. My nephew and his wife are trying to get the okay to access their property nearby to see if survived.
There’s one point I can’t shake. Those mobile homes or 50+ year old frame homes are mostly gone. A wealthy property owner may be able to combine resources to include insurance and recoup their losses. The majority of residents here support recreational and commercial fishing. They – may never recover.
Keaton Beach was our go to place for scalloping. Our friends had a lot with trailer and RV pads and shared dock, decking, etc all swept clean. Video on You Tube of Keaton Beach widely spread. He did get his trailer moved out after replacing last one from storm damage. 90% of homes estimated as destroyed or severely damaged.
Our other friends there were not as fortunate. Unable to insure any of the older homes due to new rules/codes so its all gone. Most of our friends lived in AL/GA/FL and spent time there fishing and scalloping.
For those who lived there full time… I hope they evacuated. Very rural and a trip to Perry for anything more than corner gas station which is now gone.
Perry had not fully recovered since last years storm. Lots of trailers, a few motels, campgrounds and rural framed housing.
Keaton Beach, Steinhatchee, Cedar Island are all destroyed. Reminds me of Mexico Beach destruction from Michael and Apalachicola.
Historical old parts of Florida that will never be the same.
I feel sorry for the people who have lost their homes, possessions, and neighborhoods.
I also do not understand how a person would want to live a few inches above the waterline in a territory that gets hurricanes regularly. I know that these homes are approved for building because cities and counties want the revenue from taxes and they do not have to pay the insurance and suffer the losses. The cities and counties get the $$$$ without having to take on the risk of destruction.
That low to the ground and that low to the water seems like a huge risk to me.

Hell hath no fury like a Dr. Jill scorned…she believes that she and Joe were unceremoniously dumped after decades of “loyal service” (with just a “few” little kickbacks along the way) and so they are now on a mission to destroy the campaign of the Obama installed Kamala. The irony is delicious and I, for one, hope the behind the scenes sabotage continues! I am wondering if Canckles and Billy Jeff are secretly helping as well because Hillary has been furious every since The One took “her place” in 2008! For Kamallama to be the first woman President, when she always expected to hold that title, must be absolutely galling to Hillary!
I have a lot of things to say about this, and about Mr. Stockman who for some reason is showing way, way more concern for Haitian men than for small town Americans. Is it out of hatred for Donald Trump? Because this article is also a thinly disguised hit piece on Trump.
It starts out with a coverup.

Then there is this:

This is making me angry. The concern for foreigners over Americans. The snow job that they aren’t hear illegally (because an edict was issued that they qualify under a loophole, by the government).
Dismissing that they are being subsidized by American taxpayers, because waah, the poor Haitians, they are escaping violence.
Mr. Stockman should perhaps go live in Haiti and devote himself to social work there.
Or perhaps someone in his family is already making money in the “resettlement” business?
I’m just shocked that someone who worked as high up in government and even held elective office is promoting the idea that bringing foreigners in, en masse, is good for our communities.
We can all see what happened in the places this was done.
