But the rifles are the ones they cannot ban. There are two reasons within the Constitution. Besides the Second Amendment, there is the banning of EX POST FACTO laws. To mandate a buy back of all semi-automatic rifles that are what the left calls “weapons of war” (all firearms are useful in war), means you have CRIMINALIZED ownership. When the rifles were purchased, they were LEGAL to own for law abiding people. When you ban something that was once legal to own, and make it a criminal offense to possess, that is an Ex Post Facto law since the government has made ownership illegal “after the fact” of legally purchasing it. A “buy back” is an attempt to “compensate” the owner for the now-criminalized object. No, I don’t think they can do that because the “assault rifle ban” passed under Bill Clinton was basically a cosmetic, toothless action. The Israelis had one, but we didn’t. You just ban those with the export/import laws.
Now, the second part of this has to do with the idea the liberals push that the AR-15 is a “weapon of war.” Unfortunately for the liberals, bringing up the fact that the AR-15, other than being limited to semiauto fire, is a copy of the Main Battle Rifle of the US military. That actually makes it IMPOSSIBILE to ban them. In case law there is US v. Miller (1939). This dealt with the regulations against sawed-off shotguns. SCOTUS ruled in favor of the FDR legislation that regulated ownership of short-barrel shotguns. The reason SCOTUS took that position was that the US military at that time issued only LONG BARREL SHOTGUNS, so a civilian owning one would not contribute to the maintenance of a “WELL REGULATED MILITIA.” In other words, a civilian who owns and uses a rifle that is a duplicate of the rifle used by the military becomes familiar with the use and maintenance of the Main Battle Rifle that the civilian will be issued when that civilian becomes part of the military either by joining the National Guard, or joining a regular military formation like the US Marines or a US Army unit that is not part of the the National Guard. The civilian’s familiarity with the weapon aids in the Basic Training of the new civilian recruit. The military has always been familiar with this concept, and adopted the Civilian Marksmanship Program with local and national firearms owners’ organizations and shooting clubs. When the Colt Model 1911 semiautomatic pistol was adopted early in the 20th Century, local branches of groups like the NRA and other firearms owners’ groups were presented with the pistols for their members to fire and learn how to field strip, clean, and reassemble as they would in the field when serving in the military.
A “Well REGULATED Militia” is a well-TRAINED militia, not a group of disarmed citizens, not allowed access to firearms except from a locked up armory somewhere. That training can be affected by the civilian having access to the kinds of rifles, shotguns, and pistols that will likely be issued to the civilian once a soldier or Marine.
And, no, that does not mean they should own 50 caliber machine guns, bazookas, cannons, etc. and all that nonsense. What does the Second Amendment say? “KEEP and BEAR arms.” “Keep” means maintain in your residence. “Bear” means carry in your hands. It also means a weapon you can operate YOURSELF, not a CREW-SERVED weapon, like a machine gun on a tripod, or a “DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE” like a bazooka, grenade launcher, missile launcher, a tank, or a cannon.
Regarding the Militia, there are two of those in the National MILITIA ACT. One is the National Guard, which is the ORGANIZED MILITIA. Then there is the UNORGANIZED MILITIA, which consists of all military-age men who are NOT in the National Guard. The Second Amendment is mostly about the Unorganized Militia.

I have finally figured it out. When Kamala talks she hears an echo between her ears and thinks it is another person talking to her. And not being rude she responds. So now there are two people upstairs in the conversation. Well you get the escalating idea. When she is in an empty venue and utters a word the fantasy audience grows and likewise her incoherent work salad psycho babble.
I wonder if she’s figured out that the other person in the mirror is her? All joking aside, I don’t think she is low IQ. I think she is world class lazy and ignorant. If she had different parenting she might have turned out OK.

It was obviously that Fallon was trying to ‘repair’ the damage done to ABC’s reputation from the debate. Personally, while Harris was incomprehensible, as usual, my ‘tin foil hat’ would like to see her speak without those questionable earrings.

I don’t see this as ABC trying to redeem their reputation. I see it as ABC taking the main criticisms of Kamala since the debate and giving her the chance to address them. The campaign probably wrote the questions, but it doesn’t appear they wrote new answers because she’s still giving verbatim debate answers. She can’t even ad lib enough to say “As I discussed in the debate …”
It’s reminiscent of the story of the famous trial lawyer who defended a sweatshop clothing factory after a fire in which child workers were locked in and burned to death. A child survivor told an emotional story that brought the jury to tears and outrage. Rather than try to move on quickly, the defense lawyer said “tell us again what happened” over and over until the jury grasped that she was repeating a story verbatim that had been written for her by her attorneys. That’s Kamala.
