This is our horse, Bailey. He had been sent to the horse auction where these beautiful souls are usually sold for dog food. But my husband bid on him and got him! Yay! As soon as I saw him up close, I knew he had a brain tumor and was blind in one eye, having seen similar in humans. He eventually went blind in the other, but had a few good years with us loving
and spoiling him. ❤️

When I was a kid, we had an actual cobbler shop, which we walked by on our way to school. The thing was about 10 by 10 tucked in a little spot under the railroad bridge. The cobbler was a wizard, could make old dilapidated shoes almost new again. But, of course, that was prior to the influx of cheap Chinese shoes.
I can still recall the almost intoxicating smell of shoe polish emanating from the shop. Good times.

Loved growing up in the 50’s and 60’s in a small town. There was such commitment between shopkeepers, artisans, craftspeople and the citizens who partook of their services. It was common then – rare now. 😔

One summer many years ago, Michael Martin Murphey and his enterouage were to be traveling through the southernmost part of AZ. He decided on a whim to make an unscheduled stop in the little cow town of Sonoita and play for us folks free of charge. I believe it was announced on the radio that morning. So, we grabbed a grandkid and drove the 25 miles or so to the rodeo grounds and sat on the ground with a few hundred other people and had the greatest time! Such a lovely gift to us.
