Happy Labor Day, Scruffnecks! …. and that has nothing to do with the color of your collar.
I’ve sent this message before, and I repeat it because the one consistency in this crazy world of ours is our ability to remember that not a single person has the power to destabilize us. Everything of great purpose comes from within, and from a loving God. As Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn famously said:
“The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie. One word of truth outweighs the world.”
Yes, it’s Labor Day in America. And as we pause and celebrate work, productivity, problem solving, and the value of a nation, our nation, built upon boundless ingenuity – so long as we tend the flickering flame of liberty and freedom, to all my brothers and sisters who do not take part in the grand lies that surround us, here’s my steadfast reminder….

No other nation on earth was ever conceived on the principle of allowing people to manifest their own destiny, while keeping government out of their lives. The vision, the premise and the purpose, was to allow you the freedom to determine your place in life; and even, at any time, change that determination and strike off in an entirely new direction.
Our labor and aspirations would not be pre-determined by caste, tier, creed or social status; but rather by our personal vision for our own future. The right of self-determination.
Labor Day is a time to reflect on the value of work; the great personal benefit of endeavors achieved; the pride in accomplishment -regardless of scale- amid this thing we call life; and all of these considerations have absolutely nothing, not-one-thing, to do with the money we assemble in the process.
What is the current value of a former seed that became a tree nurtured toward its continued maturity over decades? What was that seed worth at the time it was planted? We can only see the value in hindsight many years later. What value lay in the blood at Fort McHenry?
The job, per se’, was simple. Hold the flagpole in place. Keep that representative flag held high, no matter the cost. And yet, that cost, my God THAT COST, could it ever be quantified appropriately? A simple yet consequential task that expressed the fullest measure of devotion to the underlying premise, freedom. America!
Several years ago, Florida Power and Light won the prestigious international Edward Demming Award for excellence in multi-platform engineering, efficiency superiority and total quality in the process of energy management.
However, the scruffy rednecks did not blow every PhD intellectual out of the water with slide rules, CAD programs, articulated and quantified quality improvement processes and engineering acumen. They did it with hard hats and dirty fingernails.
Because they lost the award, the jaw-agape Japanese spent 6 months visiting and reviewing FPL and later published a 1,000 page study essentially saying FPL “wasn’t really good, they were just lucky.” You see, the reviewers couldn’t actually quantify the reason why the Florida-based energy company was so successful. In response the FPL field leadership laughed, took out magic markers and wrote on the back of their hard hats: “WE’RE NOT GOOD, WE’RE RUCKY.”
A few years later, every single Kuwaiti oil field was blown up by Saddam Hussein. Global analysts and think-tanks proclaimed it would take 5 years to cap them all off and restart the Kuwait oil pumping industry. Well, the Kuwaiti’s and Saudi’s called Texans, who had them all capped and back in working order in 6 months.
We are a nation that knows how to get shit done.
A few more years pass, and the Northern Chile mine workers were trapped two miles underground. The eyes of the world began to tear as the word spread. Most began to whisper no one could save them. Who did they call for help? A bunch of hick miners from USA coal country who went down there, worked on the fly, engineered the rescue equipment on site, and saved every one of them.
Yup, that’s our America. Ingenuity born from freedom.
Across the pond a half-breed Islamic whack job, armed with an AK-47 and a goal to meet his virgins, began opening fire on a train in France. The scruffneck Americans on board didn’t run to the nearest safe room and hide themselves amid baguettes and brie. They said, “let’s go”, and beat the stuffing out of that little nut with a death wish.
Legion d’Honneur or not, that’s us. WE ARE AMERICANS! That’s just how we roll.
Lady Liberty can stroll along the Champs-Elysées with a swagger befitting Mae West because without her arrival, they’d be speaking German in the Louvre. Yet, for the better part of the past decade, a group of intellectual leftists have been teaching our children that it’s better to be sitting around a campfire eating sustainable algae cakes and picking parasites off each other; because ‘save the planet’, or something similarly minded. It would appear, they hate the outcomes and inequities from freedom.
So we get to today, and right now those who wish to “fundamentally change” our nation are waging a full frontal assault against our constitutional republic. The bombardment seems overwhelming.
Leftist city and state leaders have abandoned rule of law in favor of supporting a mob effort to destroy our sense of national unity. Political activists, left-wing ideologues under the guise of democrats, and a host of their media allies are conducting information warfare on behalf of their objective. Big tech social media companies are attempting to remove the voices of those who are fighting back.
There is a great deal of purposefully driven anxiety and fear amid our nation as this multi-faceted internal war takes place. However, there is a primary element to this effort that each person can shield themselves from, and act to counter. We are, yet again, in Fort McHenry.
Do not let your sense of self succumb to this assault. Do not let them win the battle for your peace of mind.
It might, heck, -check that- it does seem overwhelming at times. But that is the nature of this collectivist strategy. That is the purpose of this bombardment. We must hold strong and push back against their lies and manipulations. If you look closely at their attack, it is weak and much of it is psychological bait. Do not fall into the trap of despair.
When we share the message, “live your best life”, it is not without purpose. Every moment that we allow the onslaught to deter us from living our dreams, is a moment those who oppose our nation view as us taking a knee. Do not allow this effort to succeed.
You might ask yourself how I can, one person, a flea looking into a furnace, retain an optimistic disposition while all around me seems chaotic and mad.
That’s the point; it ‘seems’ chaotic and mad because it has been created to appear that way. There are more of us than them; they just control the systems that allow us to connect, share messages and recognize the scale of our assembly. We cannot comply our way out of tyranny.
Every second that you live your life with thankfulness for the abundance within it; every moment that we CHOOSE to engage with fellowship; every day that we accept guidance from God – however you define him to be; and every moment we cherish this time to be a beacon of optimism; is a moment that we withstand that barrage and hold the flag in place. It is a genuinely patriotic position not to succumb to the attack.
If you allow yourself to be drawn into crisis and despair, you allow them to win. If your center of normal is based around this overwhelming onslaught, you will eventually concede liberty in favor of peace. Once we stop living in liberty, we no longer have peace.
It is time to hold that flagpole again. To remember the reason the seed was planted. To cherish the tree of liberty.
We must withstand this onslaught, any onslaught, and rally to the origin of our true national spirit. We must rally to a standard of Americanism and accept this is not that. In essence, we must individually take a stand. Purposefully, deliberately and with forethought, we must engage those around us to get rid of this sense of foreboding.
This approach is how we win the larger battle. Again, it seems simple but keeping that flag standing tall requires the heart of a lion and dirty fingernails.
All around us, in every tribe and region, there are people who need you to show them the strength that you have. Strength of spirit. Strength of fellowship that you will not relent from expressing. Lead your children, your children’s children, and the children of your community with an unwavering and steadfast example.
No matter what noise is shouting from the loudspeakers we must withstand it; you must withstand it. We must make eye contact and remain joyful.
We cannot allow despair to be the status quo; and we cannot allow a generation to experience a world without joy. In this endeavor you can make a difference.
Our nation needs more people like you, right now. Don’t wait… engage life. Resolve to get optimistic however you need to do it. Then let that part of you shine right now. This is how we fight.
Hold up that flag; give the starter smile. Rally to the standard you create and spread fellowship again. God knows we need it.
Yes, when I hear President Donald Trump say, “Let’s Make America Great Again”, I also hear the familiar echo “cowboy up” people.
Git ‘r done, as incredibly and visibly stated in the simple three-word message, “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!”
It’s high time we stop being embarrassed about our exceptional American nature, and start being proud of it again.
Because when it matters most, when it really counts, when it’s really needed, there’s a whole bunch of people all around this world of ours that are mighty happy when swagger walks in to solve their problems.
Yeah, this Labor Day let us recommit to “Make America unapologetically Great Again”.
Swagger on, MAGA!
HAPPY LABOR DAY.

By your word, action, body language and facial expression, sing it;
I’m PROUD to be an American, and I’d proudly STAND UP, next to him (and clenched fist in the air, yell fight, fight, FIGHT!)
Just imagine the fear, and dread invoked in our enemies, when they watched events unfold in Butler.
Initially, they must have been on the edge of their seat, wondering “did we get them” and then it gradually dawning on them,..”WHY aren’t they RUNNING?”
And as they watched, 40,000+ people staying in place, that unity, detirmination and courage displayed MUST have scared the living crap out of them!
THEN, to “top it off” they see our LION is wounded but unbowed, our General to lead our army and annihalate them.
WE all clearly see the divine hand, in events in Butler,…and even athiests recognise the events seem inexplicable (any other way).
Rosie Odonnell says “somethings hinky” because again, even SHE sees it, she just can not bring herself to recognise it, as she denies God.
Just as we get many comments repeating the lies and manipulations of
our enemies, when you walk around, head down, and with everything; body language, facial expression, tone of voice as well as what you say communicating you are already “whipped” you are just amplifying the message of our enemy.
Do NOT repeat the propoganda of our modern day “Tokyo Roses” by words posted in these comments pages.
But, don’t further the aims of our enemies, by “sewing dissension in the ranks” by either spoken or typed word, or by non-verbal language of posture, gait, facial expression of tone of voice.
Be HAPPY, and upbeat, NOT like the lefty loons, always angry and depressed.
LAUGH at adversity, when life smacks you down, get back up, clinched fist raised in the air, and say “fight, fight, FIGHT!” or “thank you sir, may I have another?”
Be HAPPY, and upbeat, NOT like the lefty loons, always angry and depressed.
When someone addresses me with a polite inquiry I respond with
Another day in Paradise with a smile!
It is amazing to see people tired or drawn light up in response. 🙂
Do NOT let them divide us.
Never! Never!! Never!!!
We are all God’s children.
Beautiful, Dutchman, absolutely beautiful….
And laugh at adversity…..and be happy…..
It makes your enemies wonder what you are up to!
You are such a great, positive influence here, Dutchman. Thank you for your continuous straightforward info and advice. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend.
“Us or them…choose. That simple”
A good friend always said to me
Everyday is a holiday
Every meal is a feast
Every paycheck is a fortune
This is how he lived every day
Each Day a Holy Day
Each Meal, a Passover Feast.
Each Paycheck, God’s Abundant Blessing
I am waiting for “No Labor Day(s)” to finally get here.
We can see the Leftoids in Israel about to shut the Nation down in order to get what they want.
Whenever we can spoon enough sand into the proper receptacles to finally pull together as one cohesive unit, unafraid to suffer and do without, will be the day we whip the Death Cult and their GloboCorp. Masters powdered bottoms, not before.
Yep my guess is 100-200 leftists/globalists ring leaders controlling 3.5 billion (non BRICS) people worldwide.

That was a good series.
Good except had to look up what llm stood for….why the author couldn’t have just used AI …..instead?
WE’RE RUCKY!! Love it!
😃 😀 😄 😁 🤣 😂
PhD’s, analysts, left leaning intellectuals, think tanks, academics, government officials and foreign influencers all talking smack all the time with presumed omniscient knowledge, arrogance, condescension, and surety of their calculated opinions just don’t get it.
Having an acclaimed and credentialed specialty in one field, that many are not even that good at, they think they are experts at everything.
And the average American with think-out-of-the-box mentality coupled with high aptitude, experience and drive beats them all, every time on a level or abadoned playing field.
They can’t succeed without outside assistance or outside financial support, ie can’t do it on their own.
They just need to get the hell out of everyone’s way and out of our pockets.
I’m sick of every single one of them.
Whatever it takes, git r done, fight, fight, fight and get the hell out of our way.
MAGA 2024 FOR ALL THE MARBLES!
AMERICA 🇺🇸 FIRST!
Either you’re with us or you’re not. It’s as simple as that!
Happy labor day, B.K. and all.
Been fighting that mentality all my life, the overeducated idiots that have a degree in test taking, cause thats all they are good at.
A genius with no formal education is STILL a genius, and giving him an education just enhances what is already there.
An idiot with a Masters degree, is STILL AN IDIOT.
I rive and rearn too! Rots of ruck people and good holiday!
Wonderfully written, Sundance. God bless you and God bless the U.S.A.
The European commoners are not happy!
Happy Labor Day to you all.
I’m putting this out there. Generally, I like the excitement, energy and momentum that both RFK jr and Tulsi have brought to the table, I like Tulsi. Even though she has some kooky beliefs, she kind of reminds me of Sarah Palin in her younger hey day. I saw the RFK ad with the Fleetwood Mac song. Very powerful. Even a skeptic like me couldn’t help be blown away by it. I’ve seen both RFK and Tulsi in interviews and like much of what they have to say. Watching them over the past couple of days makes me think that THEY would be very formidable as a ticket if they minded their political Ps and Qs in the next four years. It would have to be an independent ticket since I don’t think they can ever call the DNC home again. Then I thought, is that the plan that Trump has in mind? Are these two the people he’d be willing to give the keys to the MAGA car over to when his four years are done?
Think about that. Two former Democrats getting the Trump blessing. How would people like that feel about that if that did happen? I don’t know if I like that idea at all.
Totally off topic. Take it elsewhere, like Presidential thread.
No. With that kind of attitude, I won’t return. Who needs this crap?
Stay!! I’m a Tennessee girl and it’d take a lot to make me leave.
I liked your post and it hit home for many here.
Gee, one stinging comment and you run? Read Sundance’s post again and “cowboy up.”
Don’t leave!
Dutchman is a favorite of many here.
Sometimes he’s a little cocky. No big deal.
We need you here…your friends n family too.
🫵✝️🫵
Dutchman is not cocky. He is confident. Trump is confident. Sundance is pretty sure of his opinions and I as well. It comes from learning, experience, success, failure, thinking about what you’ve done and applying those lessons to make a better life.
Ever notice some people just don’t like confident people? Never understood why. Ok, we think we’re right all the time and have to have things our way but why is that such a bad thing? It’s winning.
There is a fine line between being assertive and being a d!ck.
quitters never win
Stay Mr. L. 🙂
Happy Day!
Don’t run off. I think you belong here.
Oh don’t mind Dutchman too much. He has been writing here for eons now. Not everyone likes my posts either.
I would advise you not to let go of your branch on the Tree House. Just because where else where you ever find another such another place and glorious branch to hang on?
Whatever. Go lick your little wounds.
A rude, uncalled for scolding.
Oh my dutch. What is the topic?
Happy labor day? Is that the topic?
Well Happy Labor day…………
I just loved this post from Sundance. Lifted me up from a funk.. CTH is a place for discussion.
Please return, Sir. Actually I thought your post was interesting and you made me think; I always enjoy getting hit with something I’ve never thought of. Wow, yes, maybe one day RFK and Tulsi WOULD be a formidable ticket. And, I haven’t seen the Fleetwood Mac RFK ad and I’m going to look for it now.
I’ll also look for it just because I want to know exactly what song was used.
It always burned me that the Clintons used Don’t Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow), when they truly would have been horrified to discover that any of their supporters were actually thinking.
—–
Just watched it. The song they chose was my absolute favorite that band ever did: The Chain. One of my bands did it too so it reverberates with me.
As with so much to do with Junior, the ad has quite a bit more focus on him, and not enough on the far more important PDJT, than I would like. But this is an excellent way to reach the general boomer public with iconic images that will resonate.
I pray it works out well and PDJT gets what he needs from it all – the win we all so desperately need this fall.
love it…SPOT ON…WE ARE AMERICA! ROCK ON BROS AND SISTAHS
Interestingly some while back I found myself studying how the Nazi aggression was so very successful. I came to the conclusion (not just mine) that it was specifically and only due to the element of surprise, speed, and overwhelm.
Blizkrieg = a combined arms surprise attack using a rapid, overwhelming force concentration; a tactic calculated to create psychological shock and resultant disorganization in enemy forces through the employment of surprise, speed, and superiority in matériel or firepower.
That only worked for a while and then they easily began to falter and were finally beaten back and vanquished.
We have been “blizkrieged lately. But just like the Nazis, it is going to run out of steam and falter and fail as we millions salt-of-the-earth citizens continue to wake up, hold our ground, dig in solidly and push back.
The globalists (et al) have clearly now lost the element of surprise. We’ll see how long it takes.
“Pervatin” is what messed the National Socialist war
Machine..
This post reminds me of this Charlie Daniels song:
American exceptionalism encompasses a great many things. One of them is the exceptional heart that often beats within their chests.
A 6-year old boy was in the market with his 3-year old sister…
Suddenly the boy found that his sister was lagging behind. He stopped and looked back – his sister was standing in front of a toy shop and was watching something with great interest. The boy went back to her and asked, “Do you want something?”
The sister pointed at the doll. The boy held her hand and like a responsible elder brother, gave that doll to her. The sister was very very happy…
The shopkeeper was watching everything and getting amused to see the matured behaviour of the boy… the boy came to the counter and asked the shopkeeper, “What is the cost of this doll Sir?”
The shopkeeper was a kind man and had experienced the odds of life. So he asked the boy with a lot of love n affection, “Well, what can you pay?”
The boy took out shells that he had collected from sea shore, from his pocket and gave them to the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper took the shells and started counting as if he were counting the currency. Then he looked at the boy.
The boy asked him worriedly, “Is it too little Sir?”
The shopkeeper said, “No, no… these are more than the cost. So I will return the remaining.”
Saying so, he kept only 4 shells and returned the remaining. The boy, very happily put the shells back in his pocket and left with his sister.
An employee was very surprised watching all this. He asked the shopkeeper, “Sir, you gave away such a costly doll just for 4 shells?”
The shopkeeper said with a smile, “Well, for us these are mere shells, but for that boy, these shells are very precious. And at this age he does not understand what money is yet, but when he grows up, he definitely will. And then he would remember that he purchased a doll with shells instead of money, and he will remember me and think that world is still full of good and kind people..”
Life’s Simple Truths
Remember that every interaction you have has some kind of effect upon others – be it a good one or a bad one. Like the ripples on a pond from a pebble falling in, they spread ever outward to infinity and echo throughout time. May your ripples this and ever day be positive ones that lift up those who encounter their memories and effects.
I have another outlook on these gestures that warm our hearts….I remind myself that the person could be our Lord and Savior and what would He think of us at this time??
I was at the DG, using roll of quarters for purchase, not because I’m poor, but because I throw my coins in pockets in the car and roll when appropriate.
A man asked if I’d swap my coins in the car for money because he and his 10 year old collect certain coins.
I realized that I finally found someone to give the 1953 2 dollar bill to. FIL kept it in his chest and when he died, husband kept it in his little bureau.
I have no one to give to but thought how awesome–that someone will have this bill worth nothing now, but in 29 years will have a century old bill.
God works in mysterious ways.
God sent me a ‘friend’ to do things I can’t do like hauling off the twigs I stacked after trimming the big trees and cleaning after the storms.
He is good.
He does indeed work in mysterious ways at times. Thank you for sharing your story with us!
I remind myself that the person could be our Lord and Savior…
Or perhaps they could be one of His angels – or perhaps a person in whom the Holy Spirit dwells, that is letting the light within shine forth. May God continue to Bless and keep you JJ.
Just FYI if you’re unaware – it’s AI generated.
Thanks for the warning, Harrison.
Even if it is AI, “it” did a great job with an excellent and special subject. President Trump is obviously very proud of his son.
Oh my! I am at a loss for words, smiling!!
Each time I read this, with a slight update at the end, I am uplifted, again and again.
Such wisdom
Thank you Sundance.
Amen. God bless the men and women that built America, and keep her strong…
Yes!!!! THIS!
!!!!!!
Thank you, Sundance. This is the best reflection on Labor Day and where we are, where we’re headed to, that has ever been written.
Yep! Whatever it takes. You gave me tears of joy just now.
Sundance-I, and many others I’m sure, have remained silent to protect you and your site. I’m not afraid for myself and my family. My children are the last of my line. There will be no more like us. When you believe it is time, please can you be obvious? Not everyone is familiar with the intricacies of communication.
Private Sector Labor should NOT be taxed. Public Sector Labor should have a special extra tax for the loss of productivity of every dollar taken from a hard-working Private Sector employee given to a molly-coddled unproductive place-holder in Government.
AND every extra dollar from income or investment “earned” by an American Politician during their tenure in Government and for 5 years thereafter, should command a 50% Insider Knowledge Tax.
Happy Labor Day!
Grab that pioneer spirit!
🥰 🥰 🥰
I was an abused and neglected kid, abandoned at sixteen. Homeless for five years. Had begun working at 15. Saved money to go to college. Didn’t have great grades, went to the college I could get into and got perfect GPAs two semesters in a row. Went to a better college, got excellent grades, but dropped out after being molested by the father, and abandoned by the family, I’d been living with.
Eventually went back to a state college. Left with a 3.97 GPA. Went on to a law school with a national reputation. Passed bar exam on my first try. Some years later, moved away from all the bad memories. Passed a second bar exam on the first try. Pounded the pavement, built my own law firm. I remember where I came from, I take care of my clients, and help out as much as I can those without resources for whom a phone call with a lawyer can make a huge difference in their life.
I’m now buying a house. I still have student loans. It was worth the investment, and I’m paying them off as quickly as I can. I don’t see why anyone should pay for the education that I received, they don’t have the degrees, I do. I also pay a lot for competent therapy that has changed my life. I have crawled my way out of hell, I was determined.
I was raised by people with venom in their hearts and lies in their mouths. When I was ten, my father was beating my mother in the pantry. I was afraid he would kill her. Everyone, including my 18 year old brother, was hiding. Not me. I stood in the middle of the kitchen, hands on my hips, screaming for my brother to come down and help. He didn’t.
Politicians and their lies can’t touch my joy. I don’t go hungry now. I get medical care. I don’t wear the same clothes every day. I’m safe. When it’s cold, I have warm clothes to wear, and there’s heat in my house. I feed the birds, I plant flowers and hummingbirds and butterflies come, the duck family that comes to my door all have names. I take care of the feral cats. Simple joys fill my heart. None of this means I am not affected by the loss of relationship with my family, or that the impact of abuse goes away. It means those with evil in their hearts cannot rule over me. And there hasn’t been a single, solitary moment where I have not been aware that I was able to do all this because I was born in the greatest country in the world.
My family was a version of Communism. They wanted me to be as miserable as they were. They wanted me to settle for being the scapegoat, which is always the role for the truthteller. I refused. I wanted a better life, and I got it. They could have done the same, could have faced their wounds and worked on healing as I have. But they’re cowards, so they didn’t. I feel sorry for them. The easy way out is hard as hell.
I support Trump for all the reasons – the strong economy, the safe border, and so much more. But the main thing is, the man has courage. He took a bullet for us and didn’t skip a beat. He’s fighting for the underdog – all of us who are not the elites. Impossible to lose heart with a leader like him. Doomsaying is for the weak. Yes , I have my moments, we all do, and we have to talk about it. But the main thing to remember is that Jesus has already conquered Satan, and Satan gets no second chance. So when the lies and bullshit feel like they’re crushing us, we have to wipe the crap off our shoulders, hug someone we love, and fight on.
Let me tell you, Im proud of you, for not keeping within the cycle of abuse. You made something of yourself, when everyone around you was trying to make you fail. You worked hard, put your nose to the grindstone, and never gave up. Good for you!!
I give you my prayers, to keep on fighting the good fight.
Thank you, that means a lot.
Your posting is deeply moving…..Wow…what a testament to survival and success….May God continue to bless you….!
I put a posting after Maquis statement of 12 steps of abuse (Presidential thread), daily…
…he refers to the abuse we have taken as citizens…I always add that “it takes on average, 7 attempts to leave one’s abuser’…..that comes from having been in a horrific psychologically abusive relationship….I had googled the cycle of abuse and found that number to be a commonality…
I have also compared the tactics of the domestic abuser to those of the government…and they are similar…attempts to restrict movement, employment, finances, friends/isolation…surveillance/stalking…
Yes, he took a bullet for us….”Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends….”
May your wounds heal, seamlessly and be blessed with love and joy in your life.
Wow, good for you. When my dad was throwing chairs around at my mom I got the hell out of there as soon as I got a job, car, and place to go, I never looked back.
Good for you, two, getting out. Hope things are well for you now.
AWESOME! Your writing is superb and yours was a very touching story.
I wish you much success. I’m sure you will be famous one day for your determination is impressive.
Above all, I hope you have found a partner you can love and hug everyday for that is the foundation upon which you can work towards filling all the empty gaps left by your former life.
I know this is the labor day thread and some would say this is off topic but it seems to me that your story has been a labor of the love of life and should be most definitely celebrated on this particular day.
thank you!! I love to write and hope to write a book. Too busy with work at the moment tho!
TELL Kackala JOY is NOT $pelled Joe !
sundance is an insightful philosopher as well as an effective political investigator who emulates “Chief Inspector Christopher Foyle” in discovering the most hidden truths-ie. in Silos etc.
The sarcastic Steyn Labor Day quote below has some truths in it but I hope the phrase “most Americans” is not true in this election. But it is true that millions in all Western countries are low info or disinterested in politics no matter how much their lives worsen:
“Tradition holds that most Americans don’t start paying attention to the presidential election until after Labor Day. So on Tuesday morning millions of people are going to be discovering that the one candidate got shot in the head and the other was more effectively dispatched and whoever’s actually running the United States no longer feels the need to pretend that the dead husk of a moth-eaten sock puppet is the chief executive of the global superpower.”
Note I was red flagged on X for (I think) posting a few links to CTH articles rather than using CTH X reposts. I was unknowingly breaking Ad rules.
I’ll say it again and again. Sundance, you have kept me sane and centered since the escalator ride. This old woman appreciates you. I can’t do much, but I can still smile and treat people with kindness and decency. It goes a long way.
I have been retired since 1962 and have enjoyed every steenken’ day of it after working for 40+ years. I just want to say how blessed I was to live in this beautiful country, where I worked my way through high school at The School of the Ozarks near Branson after my miserable stepfather said he was through with me when I finished the 8th grade. I got a wonderful education (high school only), moved to St. Louis and continued to work all these years, always at jobs that I enjoyed. I always worked in an office and always dressed in business attire. I wore pantyhose every day for 40+ years and you can hardly find them to buy now. But the best thing about it was that when I WANTED to change jobs, they were available with little effort. I look around today and see that businesses are floundering because they can’t find people to do the work and I don’t know how this can be. Did so many die from the jab that there is a shortage of people? Or is the government just passing out money for people to live on and they don’t have to work? This is Labor Day 2024 and I honor and am thankful for all my years of labor in this great country.
You retired in 1962 after working for 40 years? What is your secret? Sadly, I am not finding the job market as plentiful as it looks to change jobs. I don’t think a lot of the job listings are even legitimate.
Watching it as a retiree of 10 years now, I completely agree, the job market stinks.
It’s even worse than it was when I was looking in the mid-seventies.
What I did then was to sign on with a temp agency and start doing anything they found for me.
Almost every place I went, I got offered a full-time job as soon as they figured out my work ethic, which was (still is, it’s kind of exhausting!) relentless. None of these jobs were great but they got me started, and eventually led to a career.
Just something to try….
That was an oops! I retired in 2006. So sorry. I might have had a brain phart.
Happy Labor Day to all Treepers – many of whom I’m sure are among the 20% that sundance has mentioned who are the heart of whatever enterprise they choose… the ones who make it work when most others skate…
Many here probably also exemplify the idea “When you want something done, give it to a busy person.”
I’m now retired, and almost forgot it was Labor Day. I didn’t treat it as a vacation day; there was some relaxing the rest of the weekend, but not today.
This was one of my marathon garden days, my current project being weeding/clearing a stubbornly weedy area, installing edging around an extremely irregular flower bed, laying landscape fabric, and covering most of it with mulch. Four hours flew by – listened to podcasts (recently discovered the Benny Show and find it fun and informative) and guess what – got so much dirt under my fingernails I could barely scrub it off when I got inside.
Then I sat down to read here and discovered “dirt under fingernails ” on the discussion menu. ☺️
My job before retirement was sitting at a desk – and I’m so happy now to be working hard outside on my own property. Love it.
Definitely what I consider living my best life. Thanks for all you do, sd!
No matter what noise is shouting from the loudspeakers we must withstand it; you must withstand it.
Well said Sundance. I am seen among my people as different, a little odd in my thinking, who comes up with that kind of stuff. Well, here’s one of my “things”.
How about instead of putting up with the shouting, or withstand it as you say, which really is surrender, how about we figure out a way to shut those damn loudspeakers off and destroy them? Why do we put up with it? There must be a way to shut down the power or something! The leftist mob knows that the media will crank up the volume for them and 35% of our population will hear it and nothing else.
There is a song that my daughter and I sing in church. It an old gospel song, entitled, I’ve already won the war. It start out with this. This old world a Battle Field that we must fight each day, to overcome the evil one and send him on his way. My commander is Almighty God and there’s no greater near or far. I may lose a Battle now and then, but I already won the war! Live by this. Trust in God Almighty.
“All this for a flag.”
Quoth the crummiest First Lady ever.
Makes me want to fly it every day, all the more!
>>>Happy Labor Day, Scruffnecks!
Thanks, Sundance, and the same back to you. Thanks for all you do.
May God continue to bless us all.

This is why leftists are so angry and miserable. A great number of us are living, enjoying and being happy.
WHATEVER IT TAKES , the story of my life, 72 years young tending 200 acres, 14 tilled, greenhouse, garden, the sweat of my brow, dirty hands,…etc., you know the deal. LOVING LIFE. Married, 42 years, both in to win it together.
Not a vet per se, Merchant Marine (Naval Reserve), but delivered bombs and bullets during the Viet Nam war, had to take a life to save a shipmate, hopefully God will forgive me.
Sounds kinda crazy but we’re working hard but loving life sharing what we grow and harvest with family, friends and members of our community. God is GREAT and GOD is GOOD and I KNOW we’ll survive this insanity. If the craziness does come to our rural neck of the woods I’ll do what I have to do to protect myself and family knowing all the while that buzzards need to eat also.
Here God provides amply if you’re willing to work a little, deer, turkeys, feral pigs (I trap & dispose of them them for my farmer neighbors), fish in the pond,….., don’t buy much food from the grocery, but do sell a little produce to them for our community. Trying to stay away from the POISON the GOVERNMENT is CONSPIRING with the CORPORATE INTERESTS to “KEEP AMERICA SICK” in our food and drugs.
KEEP the FAITH, GOD will provide if you just TRUST IN HIM, we’ll get though this TOGETHER, VOTE like your COUNTRY DEPENDS UPON IT, because “IT DOES”.
I love you, Sundance!!
You have educated and inspired me in so many ways.
Thank you and I send you many blessings and prayers for your good health, happiness, prosperity safety and complete victory over this evil.
Always MAGA 👊👊❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
This article was the MOST encouraging thing I read this week (other than the Bible!) The can-do spirit SD highlights is alive in a bunch of 20-somethings in El Segundo, California (re-dubbed The Gundo!) “something young and adventurous is stirring again in El Segundo: Southern California aerospace engineering might be coming back to life. Startup founders, top-tier investors, and prospective employees have heard the call to pay homage to the glorious past, flocking to the Gundo, as they call it, in a new migration of hardware freaks. The number of new startups in the Gundo may reach only the twenties—more mature companies tally higher—but no matter. The beacon signal is sweeping the horizon and reflecting its call off the skies. As Jacob Goodwin, a British investor from London, told me, “The Gundo is the purest expression of American confidence.”
