Your first paragraph couldn’t be more true. They were hidden and contained for the most part and we the people were only vaguely aware of the underbelly of the beast mired in the muck of the swamp. 2008 let the beast come loose and we did not react enough to contain it once more while it was somewhat manageable.. Now we are paying the price of our ignorance and neglect to pay attention to the small signs that were let out with the ooze of the ever growing USA swamp.
We must figure out a way to contain and eliminate that swamp once again. It is a high mountain to cross but we have no choice now. We must fight, WIN and finish it. God willing.
So entrenched is it, Cjzack, if it can be done it will take as long to undo or destroy as it took for it to reach this point.
Part of me thinks we’ve reached a natural end to what was built and sustained for as long as it has been. All empires previous have ended and morphed into something else.

This is not the first time I’ve heard MLK denounced by people who really know their history. Many of his contemporaries considered him a self-promoting latecomer, a publicity seeker, and a sensationalist who inflamed the situation and caused unnecessary trouble.
Most people forget – the modern Civil Rights movement began in earnest immediately after World War II when President Truman desegregated the military in 1947. The major legal and political battles occurred in the 1950’s. By the 1960’s the victory over Jim Crow and segregation was already won. All that remained was to dismantle the last vestiges of the system in places where state and local government run by Democrats stubbornly resisted.
The stalwarts who had been fighting and winning for nearly two decades were overshadowed by the speeches of MLK and the big civil rights marches. Ironically, these people showed up for the victory lap but imagined it was them singing somgs and carrying signs that won the war. Louisiana African American publisher, politician & Union Officer … Pinckney Benton Steward Pinchback … served as the 1st Black Governor of Louisiana for 35 days (12/9/1872 -to- 1/13/1873 … and … was the 2nd black Lt.Gov after Oscar Dunn (1868-1871) … and during this time 10 acts of Legislation became law.
