The Housing Problem

Back in 2000 we bailed a lot of people out with preemptive credit emission fearing a catastrophe when the year rolled over due to 2-digit year counters in a lot of older software. That catastrophe never came but the credit emission was not taken back out. People started to notice and exert their veto of the obvious favoring of certain folks in the “higher economic strata” over others by explicit policy. Whether they identified it that way or not doesn’t matter; what does matter is that said veto was expressed in the form of fewer children being conceived and born to those women who had the intellectual chops to think about this stuff. We then doubled-down on this pattern of behavior within the government twice more; once in 2008 and again in 2020. The veto continued and spread, now reaching the original children from that 2000 time period who are also choosing not to make as much of themselves as they otherwise could from an economic perspective because they perceive that their effort will be stolen — that is, they won’t get to keep any material part of it and neither will any children they make so why put in the effort?
The “migrant” nonsense is of course part of this — add to that the “go ahead and get stoned, live on the street, rip off every store in the city because nobody will jail you and the city and state will tax you so they can all do this and you’re forced to pay for it” garbage — and much more.
It doesn’t matter if you agree with either of these group’s position or not; those two vetoes have no override possible. You can only change people’s perceptions through your expressed action as politicians and the citizens’ collective willingness to allow those policies to be undertaken and maintained.
One of the effects of these policies has been to wildly accelerate the cost of housing. Its not just the purchase price either; both insurance and property taxes hit everyone whether they buy or rent and both have, in many areas, accelerated at an outrageous rate. Since insurance has as a significant part of its price the cost of replacement whether by substitution or reconstruction until and unless prices in general come down neither will insurance costs.
Don’t kid yourself on this: That’s going to happen.

Yes. As a landlord I always have tenants, regardless if it’s residential or commercial property, sign a triple net lease which means:

A short but serious question:

The state still demands their “cut”, you have squatters to evict, the insurance has lapsed, the roof is leaking, and all you are holding is a piece of paper.
That’s where small-time landlords often get into trouble.
I lost over $10k when my renters wouldn’t pay, I had to give them notice AND have a court date to evict, then they abandoned the house after trashing it. I won a settlement but they are long gone. We had no kind of argument, it just how they were. I got out of rentals shortly after.
I have a rental home and had the exact same experience. What I did then and still do to this day is rent to my youngest son. I’ve never has a problem since. There is no way he as a powder coater and his working wife could ever afford to buy a home. He’s very thankful to be living in a small modest nice house with a good size backyard and his rent is less than most one bedroom apartments. He takes excellent care of the house and yard knowing some day it will be his. His rent covers insurance and taxes and those have been going up a lot recently!!! But I never got another rental property I just didn’t have the patience or temperament to be a landlord!
That is why it’s so important to seriously vet who you rent to. Demand first and last months rent plus a hefty security deposit.
Thankfully the guy who rents a commercial building has a thriving business. But yes, when you rent out property their is always a big risk involved.

Cursive is very easy to teach. As a grandparent, you’d be doing this grandchild a favor. Supplies can be purchased online. Learning to write cursive was very important to kids—it was regarded as a rite of passage to being more “grown up”.

Peter Navarro actually made a good point about Harris and California politics on Warroom today. He noted that politicians like Harris (I’d include Newsom and Pelosi ) don’t really have to compete to win. They don’t have to knock on doors or convince voters of their merits in California. Once the money machine has them in the system they are easily elected, without having to compete because they are dems and the “story blurb” is put out for them.
Kamala may well be terrified of interviews, scrutiny and debate because she hasn’t had to interview for the job with voters.It is amazing how far she has come.
If dem voters are thinking at all, the possibility that RFKjr could get more votes than Harris becomes a real possibility once she makes her solo debut and is seen as an empty vessel. The dem vote could split between Harris and RFKjr in blue states and Trump might benefit in unexpected ways.

Vance will be a good draw for those young men, if he doesn’t blow it.
That’s what angers me about his “childless” remarks. It wasn’t just the cat ladies remark, he has made numerous such remarks.
I have personally seen and heard the resentment of young men whose colleagues with children get to take big deductions out of their paychecks. We can argue that it isn’t justified, but it exists.
What also exists is young couples who haven’t started their families yet being excluded from social occasions.
What I’m saying is that there’s a potential for division, parents versus non-parents, and Vance should be careful not to sow any.
The young men need to be brought in.
I think we are still pretty close to 50% of those eligible to vote, actually voting.
And those who don’t vote generally fall into two very different categories.
The clueless, the low-info who professes no interest or even understanding of politics, often very conflict averse,..is the minority.
And the majority who are not at all “low-info” and have been aware of the Uniparty since before the term was coined.
Ask them why they don’t vote; “its all rigged, and Dem or Rep, theres not a dimes difference between them, and they’re all crooks!” ,…see, a pretty “spot on” accessment.
Certainly SOME portion of the MAGA movement, are first time voters, that WERE in the latter category, and something about MAGA or PDJT caused them to alter their view on voting.

The campaign could benefit from some well run focus groups, made up of never voted before, 1st time voters to try to pin down WHAT, about MAGA/PDJT caused them to change their view on voting,..and then incorporate that info into campaign strategising.

Something I’m curious about-
I saw one of those video clips of Kamala Harris speaking with a group of girls. I don’t usually watch those, but somebody labeled that particular one as unusually cringe, so I clicked to see what it was about.
She was referencing the Titanic sinking to make a point. the girls were all hired actors, and the thing was obviously staged and scripted, and Kamala just came off as creepy, stupid, and annoying, with her hand gestures and facial expressions, as well as the silliness of her words.
My question is, who does this, and why? Somebody writes this and directs it. What for?
She obviously doesn’t speak and act this way in real life, she was a prosecutor. She would have lost every case where she opened her mouth.
Why do they spend money on this stuff?
I didn’t see it but there has been an ongoing education and indoctrination campaign to have young girls and multiple other groups to see themselves as victims. The Titanic reference makes sense in that context. Victims.
I saw 6 commercials this morning on the AMC channel that showed young women that looked to me to be teenagers of about 14 to 17 years old talking about rape and abortions. It made me sick.
How bout we put ALL the rapists and molesters to death after conviction 3 appeals that’s it then off the the gas chamber or firing squad what ever.
Then these Death Cult types won’t worry as much about being raped, and any potential rapists will be very discouraged.

At least a year ago I watched a video, a few minutes long, shot by Pelosi’s daughter, during which she and a sizable group – staffers? – were in a room inside the Capitol on that fateful day. I don’t recall if it was just before or during the beginning of the disturbance. What I do recall was the scripted nature of the discussion. They were most certainly discussing the disturbance and the certification.
Have only seen once, never seen it referenced since. Thought for certain it would be viral so didn’t save or post anywhere. Don’t recall the source. Darn it. It would be so useful.

The property tax in theory is based on concrete things (no pun intended), not abstract value if sold.
I pay property taxes that are too high, but I get a number of things that someone else who pays taxes that are lower than mine (but still too high) does not get.
I have municipal water and don’t have to concern myself with a well. I put my trash out at the curb once a week and it gets hauled away.
I pay a lot for professional firefighters, but people out in the boonies get hit very hard for fire insurance.
It’s loosely tied to the level of services you receive.
That’s the talking point, I guess, make people believe we already pay such a tax.
If that were so, why do they want to make us pay it twice?
And yet you still pay fees for that water and trash besides the property tax
And the firefighters? You pay property taxes for them, but when you use them or the paramedics, you still get a bill for their services.
I’ve lived in the “boonies” and the there was homeowners insurance, not ‘fire’ insurance and it was about the same as where I live in town.
And property taxes are NOT tied to the level of services received. They are based on the value of the property and applicable millage rate.

Those of us who live in the city limits, pay city and county property taxes. Almost but not quite double. This is a small town but we get not only garbage pickup but trash (limbs & leaves) as well plus street sweeping. I can’t complain about that, but the attitudes here suck.
No fire hydrants, very limited fire insurance.. but i live a dirt road life.
The sheriff doesn’t patrol unpaved roads, so we are pretty much self governing out here.
Neighbors take care of neighbors like our lives depend on it, because the do!
Paying for those services is one thing. Being forced to pay at the threat of losing my property is quite another. If I did this to other people, it would be called extortion. When the government does it, they call it a tax. Being generous, I call it a rent payment because if I don’t pay it – they can evict me and separate me from the property. And I would argue, there are other ways they can collect the money needed for those services; but, they like this one as it’s easy to hide and raise.
Roughly put, is it my property or not? If I still have to pay someone for it, then, while I might be in possession of it and loosely can call it mine, realistically it’s not mine. And if it’s not mine… then there’s a whole lot of other ramifications that should be discussed.

DISTRACT AND SHUT DOWN DISCOURSE BY BRINGING IN SOCIAL JUSTICE: Focus intensely on social justice issues and questions of food access rather than science (“what would people *possibly* eat if we changed the food system towards real food?!”). Rather than focusing on ANY meaningful solutions that are actually good for the health and wellbeing of all people, focus on how changing the current system would lead to more food insecurity. Don’t mention that taxpayer money is what leads these foods and to be cheap through corrupt subsidies, and we actually have a rigged system against people of lower socioeconomic status that is the ACTUAL social justice issue. Don’t mention that we could rapidly steer the billions of dollars of processed food subsidies towards REAL food access for all Americans if there was a will to do so.
4. MINIMIZE THE SCIENCE: mention but then QUICKLY minimize the innumerable studies that say ultraprocessed foods impair hormones, metabolic health, and are associated with early death.
5. DEFINITELY DON’T MENTION CONFLICTS OF INTEREST: certainly don’t talk about funding sources and conflicts of interest at NIH, USDA, FDA, academia, OR THE NEWS OUTLET THAT IS PUBLISHING THE ARTICLE.

The one location of several here, the one I go to… or USED to go to, for the past year or so has been entirely manned by foreign men who can barely speak English. Yes, we need votes–a bigger army. First order of business is to WIN. Two things stood out to me in this interview:
1) He started by mentioning some benefits/needs of the private sector.
2) Regarding Zuck, Vivek said an apology (from anyone who was wrong . . . have to listen to the interview) must be sincere in order to be accepted. IMO Zuck didn’t actually apologize and I don’t believe he was necessarily sincere. Vivek did say toward the end of the interview that sometimes (legal) prosecution is necessary (paraphrased), although maybe not referring specifically to Zuck at the time.
IMO Zuck should be held accountable for the irreparable harm, immeasurable damage, that he facilitated. He became a “state actor” and is subject to legal ramifications (according to guests of Greg Kelly on his show this week).
