Maryland Crab Cakes
Meijer had snow crab leg meat in the frozen food section for a little less than $6/package for 12 oz. They had a sale, buy one, get one 40% off, so we snagged two for our deep freeze. I made this recipe today and it was terrific! Served with a salad with creamy honey balsamic dressing and asparagus.
We added some chopped Walla Walla onions, and I ran out of Worcestershire, so I used a combo of balsamic and less than 1/8 teaspoon of beef bouillon paste in lieu of. You can freeze leftovers, which is a win/win for us!

That recipe is pretty close to the classic Baltimore Crab Cake recipe – which is essentially Old Bay Seasoning’s original crab cake recipe printed right on their cans:

Old Bay Seasoning was created and first made in 1940 by the Baltimore Spice Company, which was started by a newly-arrived German Jewish immigrant straight out of Buchenwald concentration camp where he had spent a short time after being arrested on Kristallnacht before a lawyer got him out (with $$$$$).
(its a small world) My younger sister worked as a receptionist at the Baltimore Spice factory for a few years back in the ’80s before moving out of state. McCormick Spice bought the Old Bay Seasoning rights from Baltimore Spice before the old company got absorbed back into a German conglomerate in 1990.

A side note. What you serve alongside the crab cakes is important and varies by region.
Chesapeake Bay region natives usually go with some combination of – corn on the cob, green beans, cole slaw, sliced tomatoes (or stewed tomatoes, my favorite), French fries or potato salad (my favorite, especially German style, served warm).
And ice cold beer or iced tea!

I will not try to give you advice on being a father, for I am not one. I am a single Mom from the beginning. Raised daughter all the way through on my own. Our father, has been God Himself and He’s been so faithful to us.
I do have a few songs that are important to us that my daughter wants to use when it is her day. Can’t even listen to them without completely choking back tears. Launch songs. Sigh. They grow too fast.
Blessings on you and yours as your daughter expands your family. It really is an expansion – boundaries grow larger, encompass more, welcoming, home, taking ground for God, your root… growing.
