You might ask yourself how I can, one person, a flea looking into a furnace, retain an optimistic disposition while all around me seems chaotic and mad. The simple answer is, it’s your choice. Two wolves fight – one filled with despondency, isolation, despair and dark imaginings; the other filled with faith, something bigger, unrelenting hope, focus and driven to remain connected. Which wolf will win? The one you feed.

The point? It ‘seems’ chaotic and mad because it has been created to appear that way. There are more of us than them; they just control the systems that allow us to connect, share messages and recognize the scale of our assembly.
And here we are… divided by a network of seemingly intoxicating systems; many purposefully driven by the modern dynamic of social media, steering a tribal outcome we are only now just beginning to fathom. They want us divided. They want is to feel alone.
Ultimately the collective weight of progressive leftism is trying to put us in isolation. There are many historic references to this disconcerting sentiment to review with hindsight. However, ultimately the feeling of isolation first begins with a rejection of God. Defeat it by embracing Him.
In/around 2020 it was obvious in my travels we were on the precipice of a disconnect from human interaction that would numb our psyche to what ultimately matters, fellowship.
Not only were various governmental agencies forcing the separation of people from their community networks, but we were also seeing faith-based organizations, churches, buying into their fear.
Even in areas where churches were not forcibly shut down, we saw a structural shift where some faith leaders were willingly ostracizing their community under the guise of various medical, social and cultural alarms.
This is not good…. not good at all.
Fellowship is the essential ingredient to a purposeful life. How and why, we interact with each-other is how and why we recharge our core humanity.
To see faith leaders willing to separate from the function of fellowship was alarming. However, as individuals we must not allow this foreboding sense to become the normal expectation.
Our nation needs more people like you, right now. Don’t wait… engage life, get optimistic however you need to do it. Then let that part of you shine right now… This is how we fight. Hold up that flag; give the starter smile… rally to the standard you create and spread fellowship again.
Throughout history large armies have been defeated through the process of division. It is not a leap to see the same strategic objectives being deployed against social assemblies including congregations. It is puzzling how many in leadership cannot see the danger in social and spiritual distance when the bond of fellowship is needed more than ever.
Each of us has a different connection to our community. Each of us has a different level of internal strength… such is the nature of living. However, the distance between people is manifestly not a good outcome when combined with the lack of food for the soul.
The influence of social media is already troublesome, physically distancing from human engagement only worsens the impact. There is no digital replacement for the true fellowship of humanity on a personal level.
Ultimately it is the currency of human connection that is the true value in our lives.
We have each felt how our positive influence upon the lives of others nourishes our own sense of purpose and fulfillment… Do not lose that. Do not think you can compensate for that through other arbitrary measures; you cannot.
With local, state and federal leaders moving increasingly toward self-interest; with disconnected workplaces creating social distance; with faith-based leaders unfocused on the value of fellowship; and now government entering your home to tell you the importance of separating yourself from your family we must dispatch these arbitrary decrees very deliberately. “FIGHT!”
Perhaps we are in this position today because we didn’t sit still enough and contemplate the real priorities in our lives. Fellowship is the essential ingredient to a purposeful life. How many minutes do you have? How will you use them? “FIGHT!”
We will not divide our humanity, nor concede our core view of fellowship, simply to comply with the demand of another that we consider our brother or sister of greater or less value than ourselves. Any system that seeks to steer our path toward isolation must never benefit from our participation. “FIGHT!”

The Christian Pastor AW Tozer wrote a chapter in one of his books called ” The Saint Must Walk Alone”; contrary to the way the title sounds, his message was that all of the Biblical Prophets were people who spent time alone on their knees before becoming engaged with different populations. Not only were they single and alone when connected to the Almighty by prayer, they needed this anointing and grounding before delivering God’s Message to other people. Their special anointing would not have been as much use without their interaction with others. We’re the same way to some degree. Peace and fulfillment can really only come from both, our private times with Him, and being connected to others.
That is often illustrated by the cross. The perpendicular vertical beam goes up to God, and the horizonal cross beam goes out to encircle others.

I have hummingbird feeders on my back porch. I remind myself these tiniest of all birds are like us. Mighty but strong….
Last week a hummingbird came up to about a foot away from my face and looked at me. He moved about a foot to his right a looked, then he moved about a foot to his left and looked at me. Again he moved exactly straight across to his right again looking at me. After some length of time he flew away. Strangest thing I’ve ever seen a hummingbird do.
I had one do that to me one time, but he wasn’t at eye level. When I looked down, I realized he was interested in my shorts that had large, bright yellow flowers on them. Oops!

Billy Preston in Concert for George – that entire event was a months-long focused, sustained prayer of Gratutude.
Concert for George Melts. My. Heart.
Many of the same musicians in Concert for George, including BP, were also part of The Concert for Bangladesh (1971) – George Harrison & Ravi Shankar made that happen together. GH literally invented the charity rock concert in a couple of weeks by calling his buds & inviting them to come & jam for the cause of raising money & donating ticket sales to poverty relief in Bangladesh after his good friend RS told him of the terrible plight of those people.
After he got a few ‘yes’ agreements, he decided to film it & make it available for sale to a wider audience; which caused him to found the Material World non-profit charity so all the subsequent proceeds could be given over to Bangladesh also. He overcame a *lot* of resistance by the music publishing profiteers to accomplish that.
Every decision was inspired and accomplished efficiently in short order. That event was a sustained prayer for Relief of Suffering.
That was done almost immediately after Beatles went their separate ways – it was his first public performance afterwards.

Never realized how sagacious a song Fooling Yourself is, until watching this celestial performance.
The “Fooling Yourself” video with all the young people brought back many sweet memories teaching middle schoolers (40 years). There were numerous times when my students, as well as other students in my school, made my heart swell with pride, bringing a smile to my face and tears to my eyes. All of my teaching years were in SC, and when I finally retired, I felt a warm confidence that goodness would come from many of our youth. I miss them.

Retired Magistrate here: I have fought to stay alive for the past 30 years through various chronic health issues including numerous surgeries and prescription drugs that were supposed to help me but almost did away with me.
My brother is still fighting to stay alive with his ALS; tomorrow he will be 71, LORD willing. My husband is still fighting to stay alive with heart disease and cancer. GOD in HIS grace has seen fit to give us another day. I was outside on our deck enjoying a beautiful Summer day. The hummingbirds and butterflies are out enjoying the phlox, coneflowers and other Summer delights. My husband of 35 years will grill out this evening and we will enjoy burgers, fruit and pound cake.
GOD is good and we continue to fight on until HE takes us home.
