Who among decent people, Christian or not, is not outraged at the Paris Olympic debacle? Normally, I can do tirades, outrage, enraged. But today, words, even angry ones, the ones that come too often to my lips, don’t come.
Today is a day for prayer, especially prayers of reparation, and prayers for repentance.
After my first inclination, I put down my stone. Instead of quoting Jesus on casting stones, I’ll include this one from Revelations Chapter 3.
So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
I submit that at times, probably most of the time, we are lukewarm in our faith, lukewarm in our practice of our faith. In our prayers, our hope, our charity.
And so, I accuse myself today, as well as the performers, the endless Olympic officials and committees and politicians, and every soul who didn’t walk out of there.

I am grateful, in no particular order, for rain, grandchildren, summer produce, farmers, cool breezes as I watch the sunset behind the mountains, that I live at the foot of a mountain and a hop from the Tennessee River, good neighbors, strangers who smile, and funny memes.
I wish I practiced the virtues more, especially tempering my tongue and self denial. I wish, oh so much, that I could sing. I wish I’d never broken my ankle. I wish I could hold all my grandchildren one more time as babies for a few minutes. I wish I could protect them from evil. I wish faith for them. I wish I had a beach house.

The “lukewarm” is not what we see in Paris, or on television or social media. It is our response to it. If we say “meh” it doesn’t hurt to watch a little bit, or I am ignoring the bad parts so I can see the rest, we are lukewarm. If I get on X (Twitter) to find the news, or funny memes, but look at the rest of the garbage and think it doesn’t hurt me, I am lukewarm. I really struggle with this myself.

ah ha! And so it is. I briefly looked at photos of some of the participants in the opening of the olympics. I stopped watching the olympics decades ago. I also have stopped watching sports for the most part. I did this because of the outrageous importance that is put upon the orgs of sports, and they use the performers as cattle, or gladiators. I find the arrogance of athletes to be unbearable. I find little value in their “profession” and I am appalled at parents who press their kids into sports (as well as other areas) but don’t press into the worship of God. In my mind, the activities that are common place are the same as those from the Biblical recollections of the past…and God will pour his wrath out upon the earth…and many lukewarm believers will be surprised that they too will be held accountable for their silence, going along to get along. God is shaking this country. We are NOT paying attention. God will not be mocked. We will all answer to His scolding.
The things I am thankful for are much the same as you. My children, grandkids and great grandkids. I have a good place to live. I lived on a lake water front until my husband past (3 yrs after his passing). The sunsets were stunning and meaningful. The water refreshing and invigorating. I have always had good neighbors. Now I live off the water but I get both a look at the sunrise AND sunset. They are awesome.
I am thankful I am always led to truth, and mostly tolerated by others even though I can have a sharp tongue, and do pop bubbles.

I had several distractions while watching the opening ceremony, only saw maybe half of it. I saw some rather pretty scenes, I liked the weird mechanical horse crossing the river. The Assassins Creed guy parkouring around felt juvenile but fun. The Woke got thick when the man and woman and trans-thing hooked up in a library and secluded themselves for a casual threesome. I’ve gotten good at sensing the Woke approaching and tuning it out.

It’s not news that the people “running things” — by which I mean the big global corporations’ heads, bureaucrats whose names we don’t know, deciders and shapers and yes probably a goodly number of the faces that fill official big positions too — were overtly evil, anti-Christ, Satanic.
By this I mean explicitly that they understand and believe the divinity of Christ, the Christian faith, and what that entails for humans, and they are against it. They want and strive for the opposite, whether or not they ritualize it overtly.
We’re not the frog in the story with the scorpion, or the woman with the snake, who is surprised when evil does evil. We’re the frog who swims across along and leaves the scorpion to go sting itself, or the woman who trods on the snake and does not cuddle it. (In context of the Olympics, apply the go-woke-go-broke method and don’t pay them money and attention via viewership, and apply same to the sponsors who fund this.
Frankly I’m cheered that they’re so desperate, so driven to the brink, that they’re resorting to overtly showing their hand. I just broke my ankle about a month ago, had surgery, plate and screws, about 10 days ago. What do you mean you wish you never broke your ankle? What do I have to look forward to?
Depends on your age, and the severity of the fracture. I had a trimalleolar fracture, some heel damage, ligaments, etc. The ankle was almost completely displaced from the socket. Pretty much worst case scenario. Ultimately, I had an ankle replacement, but that isn’t an automatic thing, not by a long shot.
Your circumstances and your work at physical therapy will determine your outcome. Work hard, and good luck, I’ll be praying for you.

Honestly, my first reaction is to ask Jesus to come quickly and save us from this evil because the rot is so endemic and seems to be only getting worse. Then I remember that I have a duty to try to see them as lost souls. This is very confusing and frustrating for me at times. I’m still learning.
It breaks my heart, and sometimes I get to feeling bitter and hateful, and I have to once again ask for forgiveness. This has been something I’ve been struggling with recently, and honestly, I don’t like the way I feel when I have to contend with what bubbles up in me when I see nasty crap like this. It terrifies me for our children’s future as well.
And here I thought the ceremony that CERN conducted for the Large Hadron Collider was overt. Now hearing about this at the Olympics in Paris? Truly the season is short.
My sister-in-law, her daughter, and her 3 grandchildren are visiting us this week. We just got back from the planetarium where we saw an awesome educational display of the planets, our sun, and different galaxies in our universe. We then ate Alabama barbecue for lunch. We are not participating with the Paris Olympics. By their fruits you shall know them, it is written.

Will keep you and your hubby in mind and prayers. In our home we know that anything can go upside-down for either, or both, of us at any time. God bless and protect you both.
The Lord commanded the Israelites to utterly destroy the Philistines as they were an abomination to Him. He didn’t tell them to turn the other cheek but to confront them. In the New Testament we are told not to judge/usurp the Lord’s soul authority regarding the ultimate decision whether a person is going to heaven or hell, but defend the faith (doctrine) and judge/confront those who persist in spreading false doctrine much like the Apostles in the New Testament did when considering destroying the flesh of a believer so that his soul may be saved. If this is the treatment afforded a believer certainly a like treatment is expected for one who blatantly mocks the Lord. That said, as Christians we are to be confronting these charlatans and their supporters (those who advocated and participated in the Olympic drag queen last supper) of evil and not be be fearful of repercussions because the power of God is with us as long as we heed and act according to His Word. And, yes we can pray that they understand and accept the shed blood of Jesus Christ for salvation. Now whether they do and believe in that act is up to them for you/we have done our part. If they ignore that call, then the evil they are propagating must be called out and stopped.
I wish people would wake up from their spiritual slumber. I say “their” but I really mean “our” because I’m guilty too. I wish I had more kindness in my heart for these people. I wish I could pray for them. Bless them. I wish I didn’t look upon Hamas flags in Union Square and feel homicidal. I wish the internet and social media didn’t make it so easy for lies to travel 3x round the earth before the truth gets its boots on. I wish I was a better example.
