I’m a big fan of Puller and Smedley Butler, but there is more to the story of Chosin than what has been glamorized.
Shorty before the Marines were enveloped around the Chosin Resevoir, elements of the 7th Division, US Army had reached the Yalu River, the border with China.
This is when the Chinese invaded with human waves.
As the Army elements withdrew due to overwhelming numerical superiority, the Marines became entrapped. And the Army surviors from the human waves attached to Puller.
About 2,500 soldiers withdrew to the Marines’ right flank. About 2 regiments worth that had escaped the human waves.
When the Chinese engaged in earnest with Puller’s Marines, it was these soldiers who took the worst of it against an exponentially larger Chinese force on the right flank.
About 400 of 2500 walked away, saving Puller and his unit from being annihilated when the Chinesse finally attacked en masse.
The Marines, for years, blamed and belittled these efforts by those soldiers and claimed they caused the situation until evidence came out much, much later that those soldiers were outnumbered by astronomical numbers. The blame and belittle game quietly died. As it turns out, they saved the Marines from being overrun.
These soldiers and Marines didn’t so much as breakout as they fought their way to the coast to be evacuated at a port under a barrage of covering fire, and then the port was ultimately destroyed subsequently by naval barrage and air strikes.
I know this for a couple of reasons. One being I’ve studied it.
The other being, it’s personal to me. I’m in possession of my grandfather’s letters to my great grandmother, describing as gingerly possible to his mother his well being and describing that the events there were worse than anything he had ever seen in all of his career as a professional soldier.
He as a section NCOIC (MSgt) for HQ Co, 7th Infantry Division (USA) and was 1 of the less than 400 who walked out alive and not wounded.
His descriptions in those letters should be taken with the context of what else he had survived previously in WWII and Korea that include Pearl Harbor (Schofield barracks), Guadalcanal (relieving the overwhelmed Marines the first time), Papau New Guinea, Phillipines and Inchon.
It wasn’t only the Marines.

I suspect there are many untold stories about military events that never see the light if day, and an equal amount that the truth is altered for troop morale, public support or inter service rivalries.
Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction, and different than what is presented oftentimes.
I suspect as time goes by, more and more will be revealed about Iraq II and Afghanistan. And it should. People need to know.
One thing I’ve become aware of regarding the last 2 decades of those events I’ve just ascribed, is the average days in the field for combat troops vs what had been in the previous wars of the 20th century. The difference is astounding.
While society has given those veterans the respect they deserve compared to how our Vietnam vets experienced, a shameful disgrace, they don’t receive enough, imo.
Those guys spent way too much time in combat conditions.
Another personal pet peeve, is the USG never acknowledged the efforts of the secretive, low intensity conflict of Central America. No campaign or service ribbons, no national defense medals, nothing, yet multiple bronze stars, purple hearts, “training casualties” and maybe a silver star or 2.
Why? Because the government and politicians will have to admit they lied about anyone being there in any large part or engaging in and doing anything there.
It is completely unacknowledged and virtually unknown except to those who were there or had loved ones who were there. And many, if not most, of the loved ones don’t even know to the extent. And to my knowledge, the only operation or campaign of that scale to ever have designated as not happening in American military annals.

As for myself, I’m pretty confident that Crooks wasn’t the real shooter. He was just too stupid to realize.
If the “Deep State” wanted to kill their rival, as they carefully planned to do, they would not actually hand the keys to a kid.
The only thing that these people did not plan on was – “God Himself.”

Something looked remarkably familiar to me, as I hear more information on Crooks, but it took me until this morning to realize what bothered me about the whole thing.
The familiarity came from my LE role player days, The actions taken by Crooks at the Butler Fair Grounds appear to me as actions taken by a role player in a law enforcement training exercise to evaluate trainees on their proficiency. The level of obviousness of someone up to no good (role player) in such a scenario depends on whether it’s a graded exam or a lab for new recruits.
This one looks like a training lab: drone, rangefinder, suspect linger around the area, ladder, man with gun on a roof, withholding of information from others that would upset the exam goals.

I am just a nurse who has spent the last 45 years attempting to decipher physician handwriting…and at first glance, I would have thought it was from two different people. Just my own personal opinion.
We are currently engaged in a battle of good vs evil.
This is much more than simply another four-year election.
We have been through some of the phases of that battle. We went through the Great Awakening phase. We have been going through the Exposure phase. I believe we are entering the Reveal phase. I’m looking forward to the “Justice for all” phase.

Here are some statistics for real estate and rental increases. It’s a bleak picture. Why to people vote for this? I cannot wrap my head around the stupidness of doing so.

Landlords who have over 50 units in their portfolio would lose their tax credits if they failed to adhere to this proposed law. Yet, property taxes throughout the US increased by 6.9% in 2023 alone.
This does not factor in rising insurance premiums or rising maintenance fees. Taking the data back from before the pandemic, property taxes across the nation have risen by over 25%, steadily increasing about 5.9% each consecutive year since 2019. Now this varies widely by state and city. Charlotte, North Carolina, saw a 31.5% increase in property taxes from 2022 to 2023. Indianapolis experienced a 16.8% yearly increase. Atlanta, Georgia, and Denver, Colorado, both saw tax rates rise over 15%.
Housing demand outweighs the available supply. We see this issue everywhere from Canada to the UK and it has been exacerbated in recent years thanks to populations multiplying with million of incoming migrants. Around 34% of Americans rented as of 2023 (45.2 million) with 53% of renters spending over 30% of their income on rent. The old 30% figure is long outdated and it is all but assumed that most new homeowners are paying this sum due to the cost of financing the debt of a home. If these landlords simply offload their homes into the market, it will not help those who cannot afford to buy. People will not conduct business if it is not profitable and while there are greedy landlords many have been forced to raise rental prices out of necessity.
The migrant crisis truly corners every aspect of our economy and has undoubtedly hurt the number of available units. If 45.2 million rented last year and we increased the population with 8 million new migrants, that alone is a surge of over 17.65% now seeking rentals. No, they cannot secure loans or show a credit score or two years of consecutive employment. The government is willing to use taxpayer funds to house them, however, increasing the cost of living for those taxpayers.
You cannot control the free market. No one ever asks, “Has this been done before? If so, did it work?” The answer is NO. Look at Spain, Germany, Austria, or anywhere else that attempted rental caps. We are experiencing an issue of SUPPLY. Rental caps will only work to tighten the already limited supply of rentals available.
