I thought that it was touching that he named one of his kids Vivek after his friend.
I doubt that was the reason. After all, his wife is Indian and Vivek is a common Indian name.

Debbi you and I share a common sense of how to read a person. JD VANCE was very down to earth and spoke very well. he is indeed ONE OF US!!!!
People are critical and for good reason.
He was a Never Trumper – from the things he said when he was don’t inspire confidence that he changed his stripes.
He was a CIA contractor and got his start in politics by a Peter Theil donation of 15M. I don’t trust anyone CIA related or Theil, who founded Palantir.
He went to Yale law school, which is a deep state pipeline.
He’s being backed by the tech community. Another red flag as those guys are to be trusted as much as the CIA.
But now, he’s saying all the right things and is the VP candidate, so I’ll support him but suspicious cat remains… suspicious.
Ever say anything when you were a kid you regretted (learned better) later? I sure as hell have. Of course I have lived 80 years and said a few mouthfuls.
As for Senator Vance, I like what I see.
YES, we do change our stripes — the Dude of the House and me are both former far-far-lefties — and so are a lot of other MAGA-ites. This is not years ago or even yesterday. It’s today. But glad you’re willing to give a former non-Maga guy a chance. That’s the way to do it!
A speech where homeage is paid to everyone’s grandma with chants of “MamMaw MamMaw!” is not a flat speech.
“Mammaw” has been made popular with seven-season show “Young Sheldon” and nine seasons of “Big Bang Theory”.
Grandmothers all over America are raising grandchildren because parents on drugs.
His speech was powerful enough that already tributes to mammaws/grandmas is trending.

Pres. Trump’s granddaughter is lovely and poised. She comes from “good stock”. Regarding Mr Vance…a nice speech means nothing IMHO. Wait till he’s actually in office doing something to give him a glowing review. Remember what we all thought of Pence when he first came out on the RNC stage saying that he was a “Christian first”, blah blah blah. Actions speak louder than words. I know President Trump by his actions. I trust him. I have no idea about Mr. Vance.

President and Melania have always kept Barron at a distance from his father’s job. When Barron was missing at rallies and/or conventions, there is Don Jr. bringing his kids.
Personally, I think he should not do this passive-aggressive upstaging of Barron not being there and follow cue to put a veil of protection around his children.

That’s real love there. I never knew my grandfathers, and one of my grandmothers died long before I was born. But I will always be grateful for the one grandma I did know. She really enriched my life. I can only imagine what a wonderful grandfather Donald Trump must be.
I miss my grandparents terribly. Especially my nana. I was her first grandchild born on her birthday. I was her figlio d’oro ( son of gold). I was closer to her than my own mom.
JD’s wife did not mention Donald Trump once. Not to tell him she is glad he survived the horror that was Saturday, or to thank him for asking her husband to join him on the 2024 ticket as VP. Shocking and confusing.

Women/wives have a great influence on their husbands, even if you don’t see it. She already has had a great influence on him. Did you see their wedding pics in India? Did you read where she was his Yale spirit guide when they were at Yale? I’m sure he still feels the same way about her. She has a tremendous influence over him. It’s something most people overlook, maybe even Trump (he doesn’t have the best track record on picking people), when they’re sizing up a candidate. The reality is her upbringing, cultural influences, spiritual belief system are all different than his. She already has and will have a significant influence on how he thinks and acts. We will see. Hopefully it won’t be too negative.
You missed the “seeing it” in my comment. I’m aware of her background and she acknowledged some of their differences in her speech. I don’t assume her cultural pull is stronger than his, and I too hope it won’t be too negative – for the country or for their marriage.
Do you believe Trump and his crew did not notice her deliberate omission? I just cannot imagine that JD was pleased. Hope there will not be any pillow talk about Oval Office, Cabinet, and other meetings.

Was talking to a friend tonight. He used to be fairly conservative. Moved to Colorado and is now very liberal now. Claims he’s always hated Trump. I know that isn’t true. Now says Trump doesn’t care about all Americans, blah, blah. I’m trying hard to get him back to his conservative roots and keeping communication channels open.
He told me he’s “had” to distance himself from old friends because THEY are too hardcore Trumpers. Yet, he is so much more vitriolic on the topic. I think he has chased them away by HIS anger. Not the other way around as he claims.
It’s sad to see. He is SUCH an angry person now. Didn’t used to be that way. I am not giving up on him though. I will try my hardest to turn him around because I know that isn’t who he really is.
All that to say, I’m going to send him this video with the hope it will soften his hatred of the man, not the politician, Trump. To bring forward the basic humanity of Trump, rather than the evil characterization protected by his enemies.

I just read a very interesting article re: Trump’s change in platform, which in the midst of our present politics I find disturbing because in the midst of all the genuine appreciation of Trump and his family, all of which is good, I am wondering if we are missing something, as we are all so affected by the world in which we live, even those of us who believe in God and want always to put His way first.
