I love Byron but he knew two reasons would keep him from running for federal office for a time: 1) first, having the two candidates from the same state would cause some problems…even IF it could be overcome and 2) and MUCH MORE IMPORTANT, he has a record of trying to commit fraud and this Wiki piece makes more light of it than Donalds himself has:

I’ve met Donalds. I like him a lot, but he was not my top pick for VP. And he tells the story that you just told about his shady past and how he overcame and accomplished what he has. He is not hiding it. He is using it as an inspirational story to encourage others.
If Trump thinks he’s the right man, he’ll get a job in the Trump government where he’ll have plenty of time to prove himself.

He’s more fluent in MAGA than most. He can do a great deal of good in the house and would be a hell of lot better governor than Meatball.
He bounced a check over a dollar amount that triggered low level felony. Pled out, covered check and fees, did probation and under terms was allowed to be reduced to misdemeanor and then be eligible for expungement. I don’t have inside knowledge but that’s a typical scenario for a first time offender who didn’t balance their checkbook good or was cutting things really tight one month. These are not things to deter a nomination. It’s something that struggling Americans can relate to. He’s more than made up for it with his life choices since then. Just sayin’.
With his background, Donalds might work out at Treasury or the FDA.
We desperately need Byron Donalds in the House. He would make an outstanding Speaker, and wipe the memories of Nanxi right off the pages of history – except for her insider trading.

This goes for me as well. I hated all things Trump from my knowledge of his name through the Apprentice years. I didn’t have to like a celebrity. When he became a candidate I reserved my powder on all the contenders until I saw who they really were. Trump rose to the top of my list immediately & I have never waivered. Politics wasn’t my profession, but it was JD’s. He should’ve been better. Do I believe he is True MAGA now, not sure?! He has much to prove but I trust PDJT’s instincts so now I move on.
