FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh resigns. Kavanagh had banned US flags on FDNY equipment because “it’s divisive”. She also, inexplicably in my view, had Letitia James give a speech at a departmental function. After James was booed Kavanagh launched an investigation into those who booed.

My wife and I have attended five Trump rallies, three of which were held outdoors. Once you get to the gate, security requires you to put everything you’re carrying on a table for inspection. Then, you go through a metal detector, after which an agent with a wand gives you the once-over. At least, that’s what happened at four of the five rallies.
Yesterday, I didn’t get wanded. Instead, when I went through the metal detector (which didn’t go off) and then presented myself in the usual ‘T’ stance with arms out, the uniformed agent simply said, “You’re good. You can go on through.”

When I say the failures of the Secret Service here are inexcusable, the word “inexcusable: itself seems insufficient. We’re supposed to be the varsity, and the world just saw some of the best we have get punked by a 20-year-old with Dad’s AR.
I loathe pointing the finger at law enforcement officers or USSS. It’s a thankless job, and I easily believe they have problems with having sufficient personnel—but not an excuse. If you cannot properly and adequately protect the principal at an event, then you must tell the principal that the event cannot go forward.

Just looking at what evidence is available online nothing passes the smell test.
First, analyzing the gun shot sounds.
One “security expert” read, look over here, a squirl, said first gunshot was just a crack, supersonic, then pop pop pop pop.
listening to the audio, first shot was different sounding, my take, from a noise suppressed weapon. Rifle 1, the actual one intended to kill Pres. Trump, fires one shot, followed by several from the rube. Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, spraying the crowd, killing one, seriously wounding 2.
Second, analyzing trajectory of bullets. It shouldnt be too difficult, given they have an actual picture of the bullet as it passed through Pres Trumps ear. Looking at the pictures you can even see a clear line through it front to back. My take is the the line made will point straight to the second building behind where the Rube 20yo shot from and killed 1 and severely injured 2 innocent people. If you have ever seen Trump speak you know he doesn’t move from the podium a whole heck of a lot. A rifle fired from a static firing position inside building 2 would explain why all the waiting that was observed, and the near miss. Trump wasn’t cooperating as his head just wasn’t where it was expected to be. A rifle could be pre sighted to fire through a small hole in the building, or even some other location in that general direction, and this could even be done remotely. No need for even an actual human to pull the trigger, but also no ability to adjust the shot as it would be going through a small opening, and would likely need to be placed a foot or more back so no muzzle flash could be observed.
This is speculation on my part knowing that the story we are told, is not what actually happened. That is an absolute certainty.

I cannot argue with this. If someone has the drop on you at tens of feet from above and your hands are below an obstruction (as is the case here) you CANNOT get your weapon into the fight. You move upward another inch and you die. Radio once in cover is the best of bad options.
Still seems like the officer could have done something more to disrupt this shooter’s ability to get any shots off at PTrump. Guess it just doesn’t make sense to those of us who are not LEO trained, but I would think if an officer sees a guy with a rifle in that situation, he yells, maybe fires his weapon (although I get it that you don’t want to just fire indiscriminately with all those people on the other side), do something to distract the guy more than he did. If this is true then having the shooter rush his shots probably did save the Presidents life. So there is that I guess.

Especially since everyone could see the shooter from the ground. The weapon should have already been out. The officer KNEW that the perp was there, was in a prone assassin position, and had a rifle. Of course, their weapon should have been drawn.

The police officer acted in a cowardly manner. He could have easily distracted the shooter. His job was protection but in the final analysis he chose to cower and protect himself.
A 20 year old s***lib with no sophisticated technology or special military training was walking around the parking lot outside a Trump rally with a ladder and a rifle before climbing on a rooftop that gave him clear line of sight to Trump.
Secret Service is now claiming they actually provided EXTRA security for the rally.
They weren’t undermanned, like everyone giving them the benefit of the doubt was claiming.
They had the resources, they just didn’t use them.
Not only did the Secret Service leave the door wide open, but they left it open in ways that strongly suggest that they knew what would happen.
Or they wanted everyone to see this kid and have him be the patsy. This administration gets away with everything by blaming it on incompetence or glitches.

We’ve seen epic fails by this administration across the board; Afghanistan withdrawal, a border taxpayers are funding to have millions of illegals imported into our nation, a pResident using taxpayer money to buy votes via student loan forgiveness (directly ignoring the Supreme Court), arms and munitions sent to Ukraine when our own military is depleted, the draining of our Strategic Petroleum Reserve to the point that experts say it is compromising the integrity of the facilities to hold it, and so much more.
And the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in such massive security failures it boggles the mind.
I pray for our nation and our rightful president.

Retired Magistrate here: I woke up very thankful today. Why? Well, number one I woke up; at my age that is something to be thankful for everyday. Number two, President Trump is alive and well, standing strong and thanking GOD for saving his life. Number three, I talked to my brother yesterday. He is now out of intensive care and back in his long term care facility (he has ALS due to Agent Orange exposure in Nam) and he was able to make noises back to me.
Sometimes we get so involved with material things, that we forget to be thankful for the things that make life worth living: family and friends, a beautiful sunrise or sunset, a lovely Summer day, the kiss of a husband of 35 years who is stable with cancer and heart disease and knowing that GOD is in control.

I sure can relate! I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, serious digestive problems and my pancreas is shutting down. In constant pain for 14 years and counting! I still have a pretty good veggie garden and flower garden that I take delight in. I am blessed to still have my husband of 55 years after a life saving surgery 3 years ago. I thank GOD everyday !!!

And remember, the left is the party of Identity Politics. That in itself is meant to separate us into tribes and spread hateful divisive rhetoric. CRT, DEI, BLM, LBQT…, Climate, Gender, White men, etc. They can’t help themselves. They must Manufacture Hate.

There’s not enough time for an appeal before election. When President Trump wins on day one he pardons himself and all these political nuisance cases are dead.
They can appeal to the 11th circuit, but ultimately Clarence Thomas presides over the 11th circuit. So this suit is dead.

Putting thought into it, it’s hard to find any reasonable explanation for the building being left unguarded and unwatched. It makes no sense. It’s basic. The building roof would *have* to be part of the routine schematics Secret Service developed many days in advance, revisiting again days before, the day before, and hours before the rally. There’s a standard process. It’s not discretionary. I’ve been swept, and observed sweeps of locations before numerous events. No way this should escape the attention of *everybody* in the chain. That rooftop, or something very close, ideally would have an agent placed on it, since there were only a few buildings in the area. Even if not, a sniper should not only be watching the side of buildings and roofs facing the rally, but obviously eyes would also have to be on any sides that could be used for access. It should be simple for Congress or overseers to look at the Secret Service’s advance graphics and schematics to see what its assessment and plans for that building were. Either it was left out (makes no sense) or it was included yet ignored (makes no sense). A second point is how all the agents and law enforcement whose job is to scan the crowd and any buildings missed the shooter even as ordinary citizens spotted him and tried to alert law enforcement. This also makes zero sense. I’m sure many of you all have thought much the same. Thoughts?
