I think the GOPe is maybe 100 people in our state. However, they occupy 100 of the upper positions in the GOP. We got rid of a lot of them last year, probably enough to be able to ignore them, but they pretend to be a majority by yelling loudly, and many people get fooled.

I am pleased about the reprint of the abridged edition (2018) with a foreword by Jordan Peterson. I would, however, recommend first time readers of Solzhenitsyn begin with his Harvard Lecture 1978 and Templeton Prize Acceptance Address 1983. For all supporters of this site please encourage all young people you know to read these. They were available online and hope they still are.

I bought a paperback of The Gulag Archipelago on Amazon that was divided in three parts. I am still midway in the first book. It has so much truth and sadness.
It is stunningly well written. I cannot think of a better writer. I am constantly reading sentences aloud to my husband.
And to think of the way bootleg copies were passed around in manuscript pages in the Soviet Union where it was read secretly. Each reader was permitted 24 hours to read it and then had to pass it on. This was in my lifetime!
Although Solzhenitsyn spoke at Harvard, I think Ivy Leagues did their best to ignore him. Ten years later the only thing of his I recall being assigned to read in my Russian Studies courses at another Ivy League, was One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.

Can I just say something as an Englishman regarding the election last week.
Yes Labour won most seats and are now in power However, the number of overall votes they accrued was actually less than the last election in 2019 by over two million where they were heavily defeated.
There is no appetite for a left wing party but the collapse of the so called Conservative vote was the reason for the result.
Many former conservative voters have gone to the Reform party run by Nigel Farage which garnered over 4 million votes compared to the Labour party’s 10 million. We have a very flawed electoral system which gave Labour 421 seats with 10 million votes but Reform with 4 million only 5 seats.
As bad as this is we at Reform have only just started to fight.
I thought that too, since I read the British papers. I was hoping that more people would vote Reform. Labour was booted out because it was a disaster. The Tories came in and – like the Republicans in the US – do not want to rock the boat. It is time, there and here, to try something different – thus the hate for all things Trump in the US.

If they do form a government, that circle will be quite hard to square… That also illustrates how the NFP is not that natural an alliance…

Communism has never worked anywhere throughout history and only results in millions of people being slaughtered by their totalitarian rulers and countries/economies/cultures being destroyed, while the people become slaves to their overlords, devoid of any human rights. That our country ever sought to become business partners with the ChiComs, the epitome of Evil on this planet, speaks VOLUMES about who is running DC and the perils that US citizens face. RIP France, as they have fallen. It seems unlikely that the US will be able to bail them out this time (as we did in WWII) as we may not even be able to help ourselves from the Darkness that has taken hold of our country, but I certainly hope that God will have Mercy on us and make this possible. We have been friends with the French for centuries and it was the French who helped us prevail against our British Tyrants. We should not forget that.
