I suspect that when global corporations come in and make life impossible they consider our freebies as reparations but plenty US citizens lost their businesses to globalization. We try to keep tally of which if any of our local small businesses are still owned by a born in the USA citizen. Even a local franchise that sells pork foods – the employees told how the owner was forced out by corporate in order to gift it to an Iraqi refugee. Dude really tried but I wondered if he had any issues around the pork. He didn’t work in the kitchen hands on like the previous owner but he would landscape and clean the dining area. We quit going after the employees told us what happened. I They’ll never forget. Plus many Mexican Americans lost their family businesses here from NAFTA.

No doubt. In a conversation with a Californian a few years ago, he was chirping about how Hillary beat PDJT in CA by around 4 million votes. I asked him how many illegals were there in CA and how many he believed did vote in that election. He went from zero to maybe only a few hundred when I pressed and his position was that ‘they don’t vote illegally because they risk being deported if caught’. Yep, he actually said that.
Our conversation was a little after the 2016 election with the Kate Steinle murder (thirty-ish walking along the SF waterfront with her Dad in which her murderer had previously been deported to Mexico 4 or 5 times) still fresh in many minds.

Some people are “tan” because they work outside. I have about 5 acres (yard, orchard and just line of sight area) that I keep mowed. So I am usually very tan by May because I mow in shorts and a tank top to “get my tan. I always told my mother that my body need the sun, that I could feel it. I’m one of those people that winter depresses.
