Today, the media is full of the story about how the Wisconsin Supreme Court has reversed its own prior ruling and will now expand the use of ballot collection boxes.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Friday that officials can place ballot drop boxes around their communities in this fall’s elections, overturning its own ruling two years ago limiting their use in the presidential swing state.
The court limited the use of drop boxes in July 2022, ruling then that they could be placed only in local election clerks’ offices and no one other than the voter could return a ballot in person.
Conservatives controlled the court at that time, but Janet Protasiewicz’s election victory in April 2023 flipped the court to liberal control. Seeing an opening, Priorities USA, a progressive voter mobilization group, asked the court in February to revisit the decision.
At least 29 other states allow for absentee ballot drop boxes, according to the U.S. Vote Foundation, and expanded use in Wisconsin could have major implications in the presidential race.
Wisconsin again figures to be a crucial swing state after President Joe Biden barely won it in 2020 and Donald Trump narrowly took it in 2016. Democrats believe that making it easier to vote absentee will boost turnout for their side. (more)

That was a gerrymandering case where the Court said that State courts can review a State Legislature’s redistricting decisions if such are based on race, which also in this ruling, the Supreme Court said the State legislature’s redistricting plan was not race-based so the redistricting could stand.
The Supreme Court simply said that in certain cases, since it is up to the individual State legislatures to establish the voting regulations, rules and laws did not mean that a State court could not review said rules, regulations or laws.
So not exactly a done deal, more likely a situation where the right case simply needs to be presented to the Supreme Court and the redistricting one didn’t meet the high water mark those who were hoping for a ruling shutting down State courts from interfering with the State legislatures duties were thinking it would be.
Guess we see what kind of cajones the newly reconstituted leadership of the GOP have.

Mostly agree with you except I’m not sure they work harder. What they do is enlist people to carry out activities that ensure a win. They pay the people they enlist. It’s like a job and more or less the same people participate election after election.
At this stage, the whole thing has become an industry (call it the election winning industry). All the parts work together, with people paid at every step. For example, drop box stuffing is one paid job. But that relies on other jobs that ensure “robust” voter roles, which become robust in more ways than one.
However, when you step back, what makes the whole industry work is that they pay people to do what they want done. Why can’t we uncover the payments and prosecute them? What makes sense to me is that local and state level repukes know what is going on and they don’t want to stop it. These are the same repukes who didn’t contest the 2020 election.

I’ve never been convinced they won’t manufacture 50 million extra ballots if they need too. They counted millions of fraudulent ballots in front of the world in Nov 2020 and got away with it – why wouldn’t they do it again on an even grander scale?

According to Wisconsin law absentee ballots must be requested in advance by the voter and the returned ballot must be signed by the voter and the signature must be witnessed.
There is no general mail-in ballot elections like California.
Republican election observers and judges should be able to closely monitor the absentee ballot mail-out process to insure that each ballot being mailed was specifically requested in writing by a legitimate registered voter who is living at the address the ballot. Also, the number of absentee ballots received shouldnt exceed the numbers being received or else there is obviously a problem.

Actually, Laura Trump is in charge of the RNC and has hundreds of Republican lawyers at her disposal and a $400 Million war chest.
Laura needs to use her resources in the suspect Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania election districts to monitor the absentee ballot request and mail-out process before the ballots are mailed.
Watching the drop-boxes before election day is too late and worthless. They have to prevent the fraud from the beginning. That’s what Laura has the $$$ and the lawyers for! That’s how you beat Clyburn and the AME!
It will be interesting to see if Lara and the RNC even bother to address this issue in the next 10 days. And if so, what will be their response. Will it be a “we’re working on it” or a detailed plan of action?

The RNC need to monitor the absentee ballot request and mailing process on a daily basis. Every absentee ballot must be requested by a registered voter in writing and the Republicans need to verify that the voter is legitimate and living at the address specified in the request! If you do that then you control the total number of ballots mailed out.

In Wisconsin, blank ballots are plentiful and easy to obtain. Scumbags will then fill out these blank ballots and then deposit them in any of these drop boxes. Fraudulent ballots put in these drop boxes will always be counted as a valid ballot. … Democrats make another rigged election.
And even if the good guys were able to put some fraudulent ballots in the drop box (which are ballots indicating a vote for President Trump), the ballot counters will toss them out.
