Spoiler alert. That might be my $20 (inflation!) word for a rant. And open season, nothing is off limits guys. Whatever’s on your mind.
I will start with truth. After a few things I’ve observed lately, let’s start with the basics. Apparently people on both sides need a primer.
I just copied this.
3. A fact or belief that is accepted as true.
Let’s discuss. 1. Too vague. 2. Okay, agreed. 3. Absolutely not.
I found something worth a little thought from Webster’s 1913 online.
1. The quality or being true; as: — (a) Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been; or shall be.
It also goes on to expand the meaning of truth, and I’d like to come back to that later.
Fidelity; constancy; steadfastness; faithfulness.
There is truth, and it isn’t fungible. In the real world, we don’t have my truth and your truth. An orange is an orange and a man is a man. Vows are vows, and you don’t get to interpret them after the fact. If you make a commitment, pledge a vow, sign a contract, then you go into knowing and accepting the reality as is, not as you think it should be.
Everyone who has been married understands that we all bit off more than we thought, and reality is different from romance. Most of us buckle down, put in the work, and deal with that, with varying degrees of success.
But suppose your spouse decides they don’t like fidelity and want an open marriage. Nope. Not what you pledged. Suppose your husband decides he wants to be your wife. Again, no.
Those are the easy ones. Let’s do harder. Suppose you work at a low paying job, your boss is abusive, and you are really in desperate straits financially. You begin to take small amounts from the cash register, never really missed, and after all, you are underpaid, and asked to work off the clock.
Again, no. It is a truth that theft is wrong. A truth that is not subject to your interpretation.
I have had people I really do not like offer me good counsel, telling me things that might be difficult to take, especially from them. Some of them had my best interests at heart, and some of them had their own best interests at heart, but helping me in some way suited that interest. My feelings about them, and about whatever difficult truth I was being challenged to face didn’t change facts.
I like this person, it’s easier to agree with their course of action. I hate this one, therefore every thing they do is wrong. Not valid, nor is it productive.
Moving on.
Every American, right, left, Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative, really ought to unite in digging through muck and filth and coverup for answers about why the government has been run by proxy, and who is running it.
And yeah, for us, we saw this way back, before Obama even, but let’s just deal with today and the “wink, wink” crowd who just got outraged. Okay, man up, own it, walk back from the brink and fix things.
I can’t calculate that infinitesimal percentage of chance.
For the love of little green apples, climate cultists, EVs are not immaculately conceived. They get here by way of petroleum based manufacturing. But before that, look into lithium mining. The process, the human labor, the precious CO2 emissions in the process, water used. You know, stuff.
Why aren’t parents trustworthy enough to teach reading, writing, and math to their own kids at home, but they know enough medicine and psychology to “understand” that their non verbal 18 month old baby is transgender?
And may I return, yet again, to one of my perennial questions.
Young ladies, why would you enter into a relationship with a man who is more effeminate than you, wears more jewelry, styles his hair, and, Great Aunt Gertie’s garters, wears skinny jeans. No man belongs in skinny jeans. And have you seen the suit pants men wear now? I don’t want them to look like leggings, and I don’t want to see your socks.
Someday life is going to slam you with a level 5 tornado you didn’t see coming, and man bun skinny jeans boys will fold and buckle.
If you’re using buttermilk, it should never be low-fat.
I’ll save the rest for another fine day. Your turn.

Oh yeah, big add. Okay, I consider liberals stupid, to say the least. But pass the popcorn. They finally have to own up, on the international stage, no less, to poor decision making and irresponsible, dangerous actions having unavoidable repercussions. Even for them, epic stupid.
The first time I saw a grown man wearing dumb-azz socks and short suit pants, it was pointed out to me by my young sons who could not control their giggling. Now dumb socks and floods are the fashion norm.
It has to be more than ten years since the HR dingbat told my wife about your truth and her truth. My wife told her there is one one truth- the truth. That does not compute with HR.
I had a grumpy old man say to me the other day that everything is stupid now. He has thirty years on me. How much more stupid can we endure?
See my comment on page 1!
As far as modern styles for men go, as a former men’s suits salesman for the now-defunct, Ohio-based Richman Brothers Clothiers *, I will simply pose the disturbing question:
Who knew that the 21st-century male would want to mimic the manchild of the 1980’s Pee-Wee Herman?
* I was working my way through college, at a $1.40 an hour, when tuition was about $500 a year. Richman Brothers was bought by Woolworth’s, who promptly began to run the business into the ground with cheaper foreign clothing.
The Ohio production was of course shut down.
Richman Brothers died in the early 1990’s. And Woolworth’s also ran itself into the ground.
I remember Richman Bros well. There was a store on 4th St in Louisville that I shopped in the late 1960s. I graduated high school in 1969 and we dressed better then than the office workers of today.
Yes! My Catholic, all-boy high school in Dayton had a dress code of either a suit or sport coat and dress “slacks” with a white shirt and tie.
Ar age 13 and 1/2, when I was a Freshman in the 1960’s, I had a woolen, 3-piece suit which wore like iron from Richman Brothers.
Who knew they would allow me to pay college tuition, even for graduate school, buy records, go to occasional movies, put money into savings,* and even buy an occasional lunch on $1.40 an hour and 20 hours per week?
* Later, I bought gold coins at under $100. an ounce and sold them later in the 1970’s for $600. an ounce. That helped to pay for 3 months in Germany to study the language and for my remaining graduate school.
I graduated in 1967. Our High School didn’t allow blue jeans or T shirts only slacks and button up shirts and leather shoes. The girls wore dresses and blouses.

Your Pee Wee Herman comment made me laugh! That is exactly what I say to my husband watching the local evening news. “The sportscaster is dressed like Pee Wee again!”
My sons occasionally wear my Richman Brothers suits that are about 35 years old!
There’s something else that Pee Wee is remembered for, and it ain’t his style in clothing.
Yes, his nickname turned out to be curiously prophetic in a twisted way! 😉
I was at COSTCO back in March 2022 getting a tire repaired and so had a hot dog and a soda inside while waiting . . . a gentleman who was waiting for his wife and her friend who were shopping asked me if the seat was available diagonally across from me . . . he may have been in his mid-80’s, I think . . . he exclaimed aloud that the whole world is so crazy, you don’t know what to think will happen next . . .
being a “student” of Padre Pio, I replied, “Well, you know Padre Pio told us to Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry.”
“Wait, who, what did you say?”
“You know, our friend Francesco Forgione from Pietrelcina, he had the stigmata” I said, spreading my hands, looking at my hands, and wondering uh-oh if this gentleman was going to think who knows what.
I barged ahead.
“You know, he was at this place called San Giovanni Rotondo, at the Gargano Mountain . . . there on the spur of the boot, looking out over the Adriatic.”
“Oh, yeah . . . I’ve been there. A long time ago. Hmm! Are you Italian? Have you been there?”
“No, I haven’t . . . I don’t know if or when I will ever get to go there . . . but that’s wonderful that you were there, that is really wonderful.”
I could see the wheels turning as he was apparently recollecting that visit to where Padre Pio had lived for 50 years. Then we parted as his wife and her friend came along with their carts loaded down, ready to leave. When I got back home I told Mom about it and we hoped that he would have gotten on the computer or his phone to look up Padre Pio and revisit that place and think about Padre Pio again, with renewed hope . . . perhaps learning more than he was aware of at the time, how much Padre Pio did and still does.
When my sister phoned for her evening call, Mom told her about what happened at COSTCO because she thought it was really cool that I met someone who had been to Padre Pio’s place . . . then my sister told her husband and he painted a prayer card of Padre Pio for us, with his saying “Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry” . . . then they had it beautifully framed and sent it to us, along with prayer cards to put in our pockets and to give to other people. So, we have Padre Pio right there on the little round table in our living room . . . we start out and end every day with Padre Pio being part of it.
What a great story! I have been saying something similar to family and friends (what padre pio said) without knowing the source or his exact quote. Now I can attribute it to him.
LOL…. look up Principe Pio in Madrid. It’s a train station in clear sight of the Royal Palace.
We had a great dinner of tapas and beer. Three of us ate like kings and drunk lots of good beer… for under 40 euros!
suejeanne, you may not recall my expressed appreciation of a post you made over two years about Padre Pio’s words,
“Hope, pray and don’t worry”- helping you to understand what your father was saying.
But, I will never forget.
I was asking for a message; a direction of what to do about something very specific shortly after the passing of my beloved (heart be still) sister.
It was quite early in the morning -well before daylight. Your words were the first I saw and read.
-Bam! I sat up quickly, smiling with tear filled eyes!!!
-It was the answer to my prayers.
✝️You have no idea how you helped me.
-Thank you again, suejeanne💕
———
As a side note:
In 2000 I visited where Padre Pio lived. I stood in front of his cell (studying it…) for well over ten minutes, as people passed hurriedly in front of me; as though they were trying to board a carnival ride.
I also so enjoyed the area where he sat outside to greet, meet with and bless people. It was all a very powerful and deep meaning experience.
I could go on, but won’t.
Thank you, Patience – I am so glad – I appreciate that!
That you already knew Padre Pio, about him – and that in 2000 you had been right there where he was all those years (1918-1968) . . . so you really knew who I was talking about . . . it resonated
Months before that trip during one of many pleasant, fun …. and always interesting conversations with my late FIL
Padre Pio was a lengthy topic.
Pleased to discover
my interest in, a bit more than general knowledge of, and admiration for Padre Pio, I was given a small book about Padre Pio from his library (that made the trip in my bag).
I felt a type of drawing ….. a connection to and much curiosity about Padre Pio
-from the first time I’d heard of him.
Sometimes what we know; while right in front of us
is forgotten, lost or buried
-under duress.
Your words were such a gift and lifted me.
suejeanne,
you probably know of
Sister /Saint Faustina Kowalska .
She is quite interesting; at the very least.
Just a quick bit about her:

Prayers for lost souls

Thanks for posting this. It shows that you never know who may read a comment and what effect it may have on someone.
If we believe that we can call on those in heaven to help us, just as we might ask those here on earth to pray for us, then those saints in heaven can and do have an effect on our lives in ways we cannot fully comprehend.
When my father was placed on home hospice “care” I worried for his soul and prayed. I asked for Fr. Augustus Tolton to intervene and I would consider it a miracle that my father regained his appetite, was taken off home hospice, and lived another two years. Such “coincidences” cannot be easily dismissed.
That these things occurred are facts. Why and how they occurred is a mystery -a reality(Truth)beyond our comprehension. If God hears our prayers, does He not hear theirs?
Ha! Love that Suejeanne. Having grown up in a trad catholic family of Italian immigrants, every where I went as a child had an image or icon of St. Pio (along with the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart at minimum). Whenever we would complain about our first-world sufferings as children, we would be admonished by one of the family widows in black that Padre Pio was tormented by demons, persecuted by Rome, and bore the stigmata that would weep blood during the hours of Christ’s passion, all born with the virtues of fortitude and perseverance. My devotion to St. Pio was formed by those experiences.
I’m a shorts and sandals man! Teva in fact. I have 1 pair of socks for funerals.
Viva Yucatan!!
CUT THE CORD!!!
Tevas are the only sandal that don’t rapidly disassemble on me. Been wearing them since I visited Hawaii in 1988.
Not me, I’ll never leave the house unless I’m wearing shoes that I could walk rough terrain all day in.
Yes, and you don’t want to be wearing flip flops in a street fight on hot pavement.
I hope you have more underpants than socks.
the first time I saw a young child paddling out on big surf thinking a leash would save him…
He was wrong!!!
I rescued him…saved his life!!!!
Never said thank you…try wait?
Doing what’s right is duty. Often goes unappreciated. Should keep doing it regardless. God sees.
Maybe he prayed and sent you in answer.
Such a great post, Menagerie … it’s encouraging to know we’re not the “only” ones!
Here’s a very petty rant –
Everything in the grocery store is labeled “gluten-free.”
Even things that don’t normally have gluten, haha!
I understand that gluten for some people is a serious issue. Especially for those with celiac disease.
But growing up (50s, 60s), no one ever talked about gluten, and we ate whatever was put on the table.
It seems everyone has gluten allergies/sensitivities now.
Did the manufacture convince us that we have this problem?
Or have we actually been diagnosed?
Maybe there is something wrong with our food supply … Hmmm.
It’s called glysophate and it’s pervasive throughout our food stuffs. They don’t have that problem in other countries, only here in the land of the brave and free where profits matter so much more than your life.
BTW medical establishment loves this because they have customers for life.
yep
Triscuts are wheat crackers made with non-gmo wheat. The genetic engineering is not bad per se, but it makes wheat glysophate tolerant. No glysophate in Triscuts!
In Kansas, wheat grown with fertilizer and glysophate grows 200 bushels per acre.
Without, 20-30 bushels/acre. Barely better than Bulgaria in the middle ages.
You can get decent yields with fertilizer and no glysophate, but it requires much, much more labor.
Glysophate is a weed killer.
Weeding is hard work.
Glysophate kills weeds quickly with very little labor
It kills people very slowly with very little labor.
Starvation kills them more quickly.
I try to avoid GMO wheat, corn, and soy. Non GMO are 2 to 3 times the cost, and anything is probably GMO if you do not know what it is.
Einkorn, emmer (faro) wheats are heirloom grains, free of *improvements* and not GMO’d. Worth the extra cost, IMO.
200 bushels / acre……..REALLY?????
That … plus gluten today is chemically / molecularly different from what our ancestors ate. It’s been *improved* by the likes of Monsanto, probably to increase crop yields and benefit farmers at the expense of cunsumers’ intestinal tracts.
Yes. Monsanto (now Bayer) is infamous for its disregard of human health; beware of them and their “products.” It is paying out billions in settlements for its cancer-causing weed killer Round-up.
Glysophate is more commonly known as Roundup. It kills weeds and is used in the USA as a drying agent for crops especially wheat crops.
It can’t be washed off.
Search the Rainbow River in SW Marion County, FL. I maintained 11 properties for the first 7 years after I moved out to the area from Orlando a decade ago.
Every 3 months an airboat with 2 guys in white full coverage suits, respirators and goggles slowly make their way upriver to the headspring.
On the front of the boat is a Honda powered hopper/spreader you would see being pulled behind a side by side on a golf course.
They go to the top of the river and begin launching thousands of pounds of crystallized defoliant out of the 5 hp spreader that sink to the bottom of the river to kill the invasive hydrilla weed.
It took some serious digging on the U of F Agricultural extension pages to find out what those crystal are.. I apologize not having a link..
The main ingredients are vitamin K an “Rodeo”(Roundup a.k.a Glyphosate)!!
Hundreds of thousands of people swim kayak and innertube down that river a year..
This is done to this day all over the State because of some navigable waterways law still on the books since the 60s.
DeSantis office blew me off like every other time they actually picked up the phone.
(Roundup a.k.a Glyphosate) – Agent Orange! Wow. Our military is treating people for Agent Orange exposure.
And they have been dumping it into the water. Do Farm animals drink that water?
If so, then you would think every government agency including SPCA would be down there.
Now are you setting down, Eliza. Roundup should kill weeds alright, since it’s Agent Orange in deluded form. It’s a proven cancer creator and nerve agent. If Glysophate is connected to Agent Orange. Then anyone connected to Glysophate is or will have major Health issues. God help them.
Note: I am not a medical person. So double check this before taking any action.
Just an afterthought, reading the above post saying “In Kansas, wheat grown with fertilizer and glysophate grows 200 bushels per acre.’
How many Cancers and how many cases of Parkinson come with those 200 bushels per acre?
Any organic phosphate will do,absolutely no need gylso.
Not true. It is water soluble. You aren’t supposed to apply during rain. It’s an industrial cleaner and is a desiccant. They use it to dry legumes and grains. It can be washed off beans, if you’re careful. Good idea to buy organic grains/flours. Organic is automatic nongmo. Glysophate is a poison causing havoc in our bodies.
The parties you identify are in on the grift, with winks and nods all ’round.
Oh, BTW, the FDA is about 50% funded by the industries it is supposed to oversee.
I’m sure the FDA does everything right to assure foods and drugs and pure and healthy. /sarc off/
I think we’re discussing glyphosate–
Stephanie Seneff, PhD, author of Toxic Legacy — How the Weedkiller Glyphosate is destroying our health —
(I get my books through any bookseller that is NOT Amazon.)
I recommend her book to you for an in-depth yet readable account of how food manufacturers and growers are betraying consumers.
The older I get the more I understand the epidemic of “in it for profit.” Let well-being and health be damned..
That should be glyphosate. It did come up as glysophate in my phone. Oh well. It’s still poison.
“But growing up (50s, 60s), no one ever talked about gluten, and we ate whatever was put on the table.” Not that I have ever grown up, but we never heard about problems with peanut butter, either.
Cholesteral either. Bacon fat and lard were the way to go!!
When President Eisenhower had a heart attack in office, the doctors blamed a high fat diet and never noticed how many packs of cigarettes a day he smoked.
Fast forward to Ancel Keys and his “studies” of cherry-picked heart-healthy countries, which led him to blame saturated fats.
This led to the science-free Standard American Diet and “heart healthy” low fat diet recommendations in 1979/1980, and “healthy plates” that contain 4/5 plant foods.
Thus was born the current obesity and Type 2 Diabetes epidemic.
Part of that “heart healthy” diet was high fiber. Today’s *improved* fibers end up on men’s waistlines and women’s buttcheeks.
You only need to eat fiber if you eat a lot of plants. My diet is ketogenic, and I don’t need fiber. Neither do people eating carnivore diets. Just sayin’
Saving the leftover bacon grease from breakfast in the big coffee can under the sink.
I use a spaghetti sauce jar and keep bacon grease in the fridge. Use it daily.
The eggs get fried in the bacon grease. The egg shells go in the coffee can before going in the garden soil.
Think of all the bad foods people could enjoy more of without consequence if only they’d move more and burn it off.
The amount of sugar or starches that can be eaten without consequence is very low, if you are a type 2 diabetic. It doesn’t matter how much I move, carbs cause too much insulin secretion and fat storage. I prefer to eat my fats, not “wear” them.
Physical inactivity is listed as a reason people develop Type 2 diabetes. Obesity is another. Sloth and gluttony are not listed – those are outdated notions.
My grandmother kept it in a quart crock on the back of the stove
We also smoked our own salt cure bacon
For me as commercial … I need a special license to do that for not adding nitrates … pepperoni as well.
Too many government hoops to jump thru for too little return.
I used to use olive oil in everything … NO body cared.
I could widen the audience to the internet …. to ship… that too requires an additional license from the USDA.
Govt wall again …. sigh.
And this is how I cook now … bacon fat and lard are on the good list for my diet.
..Crispy bacon is actually -healthy & tasty food…
One of the best foods – I eat a ketogenic diet, tell people I only eat “the good stuff” with none of the fillers.
Me too.
I say it’s meat candy.
YEAH!
☺ back in the day women used refrigerator dishes. Went to the grocer almost daily for fresh meat. Sides were homemade and vegetables were fresh. Today, my grandkids eat frozen shaped meat eat boxed sides and only eat corn. It makes me cry.
God bless all.
Cholesterol is a vital molecule pervasive throughout our bodies important in many biological functions.
For older women, those with lower levels of LDL don’t live as long.
Exactly! It’s in every cell wall. Cholesterol is only demonized because Big Pharma developed statin drugs, and they need a market!
They “big pharma” use “nuts-nut products” (among many other things) as adjuvants in vaccines…gee who woulda guessed what effect that would have on our immune systems?
If you don’t know how adjuvants work-an adjuvant is designed to produce a response to a foreign substance in your body -its supposed to be the ‘disease’ germ to build immunity….hahahaha sure
The gluten allergy has been around a long, long time. Particularly prevalent in people originally from the British Isles & northern France.
Has to do with the microvilli in the intestines becoming unable to absorb food, due to the allergic reaction.
Some have it from birth, others get it late in adolescence or even later. There’s no cure except to modify diet.
People used to die early from something they called ‘consumption’.
Or wasting away from repeated diarrhea, & brittle bones.
But those who had it might often make it to reproduction age, thus carrying the genes on to the next generation.
Jim you can come into NH if you want.. I told them at the door you’re good.
Humans evolved eating meat. When we started cultivating grains and switched to a plant-based diet, then came many of the diseases of civilization. Dr Michael Eads did a great presentation to Low Carb Down Under about the evolution of human diet, and the health of ancient Egyptians, who mostly ate wheat.
People did not “evolve”.
Consumption is tuberculosis. Wheat was different 100 years ago, before GMO. Bread was a primary staple in diets in many parts of the world.
Precisely so! One can search out and bake with heirloom wheats such as einkorn and emmer (faro) to taste what our ancestors enjoyed.
Just because it’s heirloom doesn’t mean it’s healthy. See my reply above about the ancient Egyptian wheat-based diet.
Grew up eating grandma’s biscuits and gravy.
Milk from the cow, wheat from the south 40, and sausage from the smokehouse out back..
Never sick.
Forward 60yrs. Glyphosate (Roundup) and GMO wheat. If I eat wheat I get sick.
100% reproducible.
Food isn’t food anymore.
It never was food. It is “Foodstuffs”. Blame it all on Ancel Keys. If it has a chemical in it, it isn’t food and it isn’t good for you so don’t consume it.
I’ve read holistic blogs for many years, the practitioners call it “Food-Like Product”.
Most things are a blend of toxic chemicals that looks like food and tastes good.
This is not what real food is at all.
Roundup was banned in Mexico. 2018. Awesome
Are they still using DDT?
Know exactly what you mean. I bake my own sourdough bread with my own starter using only organic unbleached flour and certified glyphosate free whole wheat flour. Doing better. I can eat only organic corn on the cob. Food today is deadly.
I wish I could remember where I read it, but I actually saw a complaint online where a woman said gluten was only a problem for her inside the U.S. When she was abroad, no problem.
Something is very wrong with our food supply.
Jack Poso travels a lot to Poland and surrounding areas.
He said this on one return : What do they call “farm to table”in most of Europe?
They call it “food.”
I’ve been to Poland several times. Visit a cemetery there and you will notice that it is not uncommon to see that 50s is not an unusual lifespan. Smoking, alcohol, sausage.
My boys picked up salmonella from farm to table one time. What a memory-flying home with toddlers having diarrhea- longest ten hour flight ever.
Your name is the same as one of the 56 signers, John Hancock, John Adams, et al. Did you know that?
George Clymer, James Smith, and William Floyd sounded too much like commoners. Charles sounds so dignified.
Quit eating usa junk in 2005. Gives me diarrhea. When I do go to California I only eat veggies. Maximum stay.!? 2 days.
Gracias Dios
Our poisoned food supply has much to do with the mental health crisis AND the explosion of Big Pharma.
Most people are walking around completely depleted of many vital nutrients.
Food IS Medicine, but real food, healthy food, not food grown in depleted soils and sprayed with chemicals.
In my house, we’ve moved to a ‘less and higher quality’ lifestyle..
To be honest, the more you read and learn, the more you don’t even want to eat..
GMO wheat…
Read it too.
What was in the vaccine that was given some as children? Allergies to anything and everything now. Makes you think hard…..
The grains of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s are not the same as the grains of today.
<The grains of the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s are not the same as the grains of today.>
I was going to make a pun about grains…
But it’s too corny…Even for me 🙂
WORDMAN.
(what more do I need to say?)
Bahahahahahahahh
Thanks, Don…or should I say ‘Special K’ 🙂
Even the pros pick low hanging fruit from time to time. 😉
Even moreso the grains of the 1850s, and the 1750s, and the 1650s ….
Grains are not the ancestral human diet. Meat and fats are. See Dr Michael Eads,
They put something in the fields that shortens the height of the oats so it is easier to harvest. Now they discovered it’s in your oatmeal. Shazaam! It’s like all of sudden Biden’s senile!
Our food supply is tainted with too many industrial chemicals…
I know someone who has a true gluten allergy…and knows what to buy and not buy regardless of the incorrect labeling. There are certain shampoos she cannot use, because of the gluten in them…
Yes, Aggie, I’ve been saying for awhile, they’re trying to poison us – then, starve.
At the grocery this morn, my heart was heavy for those who can only afford poor nutritious foods.
I see it in their shopping carts – and in their eyes.
Volunteer at your local food pantry. Look at the processed crap, frequently Walmart writeoffs, that the central warehouses gather up and “donate” to the locals. Look at the clients: More are overweight and dead-eyed than not.
Are those things connected? You betcha.
Mamavation is the site AG! Run don’t walk! Pfas and pfoa in toilet paper and dental floss to hell with gluten!
“Gluten free” is a scam. A friend was told he had Celiac disease and needed to avoid gluten. Then he switched blood pressure meds and was cured. Moral: always check side effects of your meds!
It all goes back to what condition your gut flora is in..
This is pretty much the bottom line.
Yep – I went 6 weeks w/out sugar and was militant about it. No more bp meds or metformin. Sugar is the enemy.
There are no, zero, essential carbs. There is only one cell type that needs glucose as fuel; and our bodies make it using a process called gluconeogenesis.
Humans evolved eating meat. As they consumed more fats, their brain sizes increased. Ketones (from animal fats) are the fuel sources we evolved on. We didn’t obtain sufficient glucose for energy until we started cultivating grains.
Type 2 Diabetes is a problem of excess insulin secretion, which is triggered by eating sugars and starches. Insulin takes the glucose out of the blood and causes it to be stored as fat.
I’m controlling T2D without medications using a ketogenic diet instead.
Gluten free is most certainly not a scam! I myself was diagnosed with Celiac at age 61 after years of heartburn and ibs issues. Celiac is diagnosed with a blood test and then an endoscopy to determine the small intestine villi which if you have Celiac it will be damaged. So not sure how your friend was diagnosed but celiac and going gluten free is no scam! I am healthy now and grimy health issue can be controlled by diet!
I apologize for belittling your problem.
For many people, gluten-free is a scam because they don’t actually have an issue, it’s just trendy to buy gluten-free foods.
Vaccines (among other things, including pesticides) destroy your gut causing intestinal permeability. Food leaking through causes your body to attack it. Gluten sensitivity (and dairy, nuts, etc.) increases as a result.
True celiacs, I’m one, have the genes that cause it if they get switched on. Once switched on you can’t turn them off.
There are also many things wrong with our food supply.
Autoimmune diseases are also increasing, along with autism (me again), ADD/ADHD, and allergies.
My son caught a virus about 2 years ago and it trigger gluten intolerance
he never has a problem before (it was not covid) It is hard to find GF foods
in many stores and what they do have is expenesive, I have also been trying to
find a good receipe for GF bread but so far it comes out flat and dense. Also just a note the
xantham gum used in GF stuff some of that can be milk based so if you are lactose intolerant it will bother you..(As I found out so now I have to make separate foods for us and my son
since I have no way to know if XG comes from milk derivative.
Also another note for anyone who uses Stevia.. if you have a ragweed allergy you have to becareful with Stevia as it is part of the ragweed family and some people with ragweed allergy can also have problems with Stevia ( as I found out. had to stop adding it to my tea)
As a type 2 diabetic, I gave up trying to find substitutes for breads. None are worth the trouble. I eat a meat & fats ketogenic diet and use a fork for my foods instead of eating sandwiches.
Gut dysbiosis is over-use of antibiotics and Vx injury; autoimmune disorders are all Vx injuries; food sensitivities, allergies, etc, are immune system dysfunctions.
Back in the 1050s, antibiotics were new & used sparingly/appropriately; there were 3 vaccines; now there are 19 of them that pregnant mothers & their babies are supposed to take religiously or endure punishment as ‘blasphemer-anti-vaxxxers’…
it’s Orwellian…
“… CDC’s maternal and childhood schedules now lists 19 vaccines totaling 84 injections.[15]

and yes… there *IS a lot wrong with the food supply* – almost everything, if not everything, is 1) contaminated with petrochemical toxins and 2) devoid of vital nutrients; both via artificial/petrochem fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides (glyphosate is one of hundreds).
(real/natural/organic-matter fertilizers put real, actual nutrients into plants & animals, artificial does not).

BTW, gluten is one of scores of proteins in food ingredients that is potentially problematic to a damaged digestive & immune system.
And add to this: the packaging.
It’s being more and more discovered that plastics are no good for us.
They are finding micro-plastics even in dogs now..
This has much to do with infertility issues and all sorts of things.
So aside from trying to change your diets, also pay attention to the packaging.
Support local farmers where you can go ask questions to these people.
Buy things in glass bottles.
I’ve recently bought a bunch of glass refrigerator dishes from Anchor Hocking.
I’m saving glass jars too.
What I do is when I’m forced to buy something in plastic, I move the food over into glass when I get home.
Especially things that will be around for a while- like ketchup.
My kids need lunches every day, I bought glass dishes for their lunchbox and I’m wrapping sandwiches in wax paper with a rubber band around it.
It works fine.. the wax paper they sell at Dollar Tree for $1.25 is great, it’s more like parchment paper.
You can also coat cotton fabric with beeswax to reuse to wrap food or cover dishes with.
Make your own cleaning products.
Rid yourself of chemicals however you can..
What you’re doing is close to what my mom did in our kitchen during the 1950s.
Great awareness… and excellent steps to avoid packaging contaminants in foods, NHn.
Cleaning products especially!
All one really needs is organic apple cider vinegar (acid; disinfects) and baking soda (alkaline; cuts grease & dirt; 13lb.$8@Costco) and a pure therapeutic grade essential oil
({ https://www.ancientwisdomessentialoils.com/ } or azurestandard DOT com)
Tea Tree & Lavender are both appropriate for their anti-microbial properties; there are many others as well.
These basics are much cheaper than buying a half dozen different – sketchy, multi-ingredient, artificially-fragranced -chem cleaning products.
Laundry soap can be home-made as well;
lots of instructions for using Dr. Bronner’s basic soap for making many kinds of cleaners – including laundry, one $5 bar + 4c baking soda makes *a lot* using 1/4c each load…
{ https://www.lisabronner.com/category/drbronner-products/cheat-sheets/ }
AND SOAP can be home-made too… this lady is a good instructor & links her successfully tested sources

I suggest soap-only equipment from the thrift shop/garage sale if the extra bowls, spoons, etc. aren’t already in your kitchen;
also glass food storage containers are abundant & available there for pennies – if saving jars from other products isn’t sufficient.
I t feels appropriate to avoid feeding the usurpers’ corporate-toxic-chemical-conglomerate beast while they insist in imposing so many toxins in everything they sell.
Agreed on using the thrift stores.
I do my level best to not shop at any big box stores.
I happen to be blessed with many thrift stores locally, so I rarely need anything in the Walmart.
But I understand that it’s not like this everywhere.
I see this as an excellent business opportunity for the young mothers trying to stay home raising kids and yet scratch up some money.
Up here, most of our thrift stores are non-profits.
They are owned largely by people like us, they donate all proceeds to local agencies that help the poor.
One I use frequently donates all proceeds directly to the non-profit that provides fuel assistance for the poor and elderly.
So it’s a win win.. we get the stuff we need at good prices, we donate items we don’t need, the money gives a mother a job and all extra helps the poor.
This is what my idea of a good ‘local economy’ looks like that we should trying to create.
Lets put the Big Boxes filled with Chinese junk outta business..
Remember the control these stores felt they had over our lives back during the Covid Scam?
I often said “Who voted to be controlled by Walmart?”
We need to fully wield the power of our dollars and starve those beasts.
I only bought those Anchor Hocking glass dishes because they stack up nicely in my fridge where space is always an issue.
It’s pretty rare I make a purchase like that..
There have been a few good boycotts recently that have made a difference – It’s the most effective weapon We the People have; we would do well to increase that.
Local economy over corporate beast – every time… no contest.
The only problem with buying 2nd hand is there isn’t always exactly what you need available when you need it – so rare retail purchases are a given;
it’s comforting to know the odd, rare purchase will not prevent any corporate entity that’s full of foreign goods from their eventual ruin & downfall.
America First – is also a good priority for retail spending habits… Made in USA I meant.
Instead of fabric softeners, I use 4 parts Epsom salt to 1 part baking soda, to condition my laundry wash water and rinse water.
Good suggestion!
My father-in-law, God rest his soul, was very sick back in 1963(age 45). Had diarrhea most of his life, and it kept getting worse. Had to be hospitalized. They managed to keep him alive but they diagnosed him with Celiac. I married his daughter in 1978, and he was always staying away from gluten. He lived to be 88. So it was actually a thing even back then.
You should try zero calorie water then😂
Does it contain saccharin?😂
My former boss, as a joke, used to order “Extra gluten”! He’d also object to Free Range Chicken, saying “I refuse to eat something that has more freedom than me”!
We’ve got a guy up here that has a road side stand on a busy road to a wildly busy and huge campground.
He sells bundles of “Organic, Gluten Free Firewood with no calories”.
Needless to say, it’s such a hoot with the flatlanders coming up here, he sells all he can cut and get out there.
All it takes is a good gimmick..
Many of our foods have a lower nutrient content than years ago when fewer chemicals were used in food production. Posters here have brought up some of the issues, including glyphosate which diminishes the available magnesium in the soil thereby reducing the magnesium content of the vegetables you eat.
Rx and OTC medications can also effect your absorption of nutrients and cause deficiencies.
This article has a great chart listing common medications and the potential deficiencies they can cause.
Sorry, I can’t isolate and paste the chart so you’ll have to scroll down to find it.
Its a bright colorful chart so pretty easy to spot in a section titled “Medication Usage.”

“Francis Bacon” The Tem of a man”
Catherine Drinker Bowlen
In a nutshell…
Sir Francis Bacon, Lord Chancellor of England to Queen Elizabeth and King James.
The richest man in England aside from a royal, lived a lavish lifestyle but never was satisfied. He was a genius. It’s said he could talk his way through a wall. Member of parliament, he held the purse strings for the royals.
He never had enough…So he devised a working model where the Nobel class would be broken down and destroyed through propaganda (destruction of family, religion and community) and unrest, the middle class were promised their positions, and the lower class was going to need to be raised to middle class. Well to fill the void there would need a huge number of unskilled immigrants needed to fill the lower-class working structure.
Sound familiar.
So does our reply!!!

Just as a follow up the people who lived at time (1500-1600ad) were 99.9% illiterate. It is suspected that William Shakespeare is the pen name for Sir Francis Bacon. Also interesting that Sir Walter Raleigh and others of his Glory intellectual era happened to end up in the tower of England
Sir Francis Bacon died penny less

Our “benevolent” government successfully did away with the entire avocado industry in California. Now we’re we’re being told there’s a problem getting Mexican avacados because of the cartels. I bought 2 avocados yesterday. They are from Peru!
According to a close friend (originally from California) he used to get avacados “ten for a dollar”.
Hass…Not Haus!

I was born in Whittier! We had an avocado tree in the front yard. I miss it.
😊i bought a 8×10 greenhouse its not built yet. Ive been buying seeds and next year i grow my own and for family. Ill even water with distilled.
Recommend adding back trace minerals to that distilled water.
They come in drops easy to use.
Essential.
Best avacodos I ever ate came out of my wifes abuelas yard in Ponce PR.
Very different from the hass.

Don’t you worry, Dave…
The Great and Marvelous Biden has a plan!!! He has announced that he has asked attorneys general in individual states to go after those wicked grocery stores whose margins are already thin who are “gouging” and “profiteering” off people whose food bills are exploding.
Prosecute them, in other words. That’ll fix it all right.

Good to learn about the buttermilk!
I have been thinking about George Soros’s “reflexivity” (and other manipulations of his ilk), wondering how long ago our current news cycle was planned.
I will re-focus on better blueberry pancakes, and say a prayer of thanks for Menagerie!
Fat is essential for the production of the feel good hormone serotonin.
Long ago I read that when the fat is bad craze appeared and “no fat/low fat” foods were said to be more healthful, suddenly prescriptions for antidepressants exploded. That has been researched and documented, though I’d say good luck in finding the papers which scientifically attest to the truth of it.
I was first made aware of this through a British cookery programme called “Two Fat Ladies”, two women who travelled throughout Britain on a motorbike and sidecar to cook for various schools or groups. At the end of one of the shows, one of the two ladies explained this, and I remember thinking that it made a lot of sense.
It was only a few years later that I ran across the research which verified what she had said and the big windfall for Big Pharma which came from the odious pervasive gaslighting about how horrible fat was.
(Incidentally, it was quite an enjoyable programme…even if what they prepared wouldn’t suit American tastes. Worth it for the humour and conversation. For those interested, here is the playlist of their shows.)
It was great fun watching the Two Fat Ladies.
Thanks for the YouTube link.
We enjoyed it immensely, Marcia. You’re welcome.
My Grandmother and I used to watch that show!
My Grandmother also loved to watch Emeril.
Such good fun!! 😁
“Never trust a skinny cook.” ~?
Lol!!! I’d forgotten that one.
Many of my baked goods rely on full-fat buttermilk, sour cream, butter, and whole eggs.
I also use Bob’s Mill whole wheat pastry flour – plenty of gluten…
Bob’s Red Mill products are just the greatest! I really love the ground flaxmeal.
Aye to the Red Mill!
I use Bob’s wheat gluten flour in a few of my bread recipes. These days I have defaulted to sourdough and honey-oat pain de mie breads, with pitas thrown in to the mix every few weeks.
Butter on top of the bread while it’s hot, of course!
Enjoyed your spoiler alert/rant ! Please continue …
Truth is a person. He told us himself. We know this about that person: he is eternal, unchanging, objective, beyond time and space; all creation came through him; he is love, perfect love.
We come to know the truth with our intellect. What conforms to reality is what is true. Truth is not opposed to love but is mysteriously synonymous in Jesus Christ.
We have wills with our intellects, so we can choose the truth or the lie. Adam and Eve chose the lie. We don’t have to follow suit, of we direct our wills with our intellects formed with our faith.
That should be He/Him; reference to our God should always be capitalized.
Well said. The world doesn’t realize that truth and love are literal things, more literal than the material world we see and know.
There’s an assault being leveled against our country by liberty hating communists who use perversion of the obvious and subversion of the truth as their weapons. Never think it’s political and know it is personal, they hate liberty loving normal people’s guts. And the church is capitulating to the haters rather than calling them out and pointing them to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
One other thing, if you call yourself a Christian and you prefer your apostate homosexual cousin, who left the mission field and his wife and five children for another man, over your Christ loving brother and your two nephews being raised in a Christian home, you too just might be apostate.
There is no unit of measure for the level of stupidity going on in this country and most of the world today!!
I propose inventing this unit of measure going forward, and calling it a “Biden”.
Or even spell “Biden” backwards: Nedib
that sounds almost scientific!
My Mom told me about scientists and engineers that she worked with many years ago (she was a steno-typist) and their fondness for spelling things backwards and referring to each other by their names spelled backwards.
I worked with a bunch of engineers/scientists and we referred to each other with reversed names in the late 80’s/early 1990’s.
When times weren’t so good or management had just dispensed some obvious BS, we would say time to “kool rof a wen boj”, in meetings.
Hmmm…my dad was an engineer. He reversed the letters on the front of our Rambler station wagon so when the people in front of us looked in their rearview mirror, it said, “Rambler.”
To everyone else, it said, “Relbmar.”
Harry Caray liked pronouncing players names spelled backwards too, particularly in the late innings.🍺
Ever see the movie Idiocracy? We are living it now.
Why is the grass cold under my feet?
The Latin Bible differentiates between ‘sapientia’ (wisdom) and ‘scientia’ (knowledge). Bonhoeffer probably never imagined that a society could have so many (voters) with neither.
In 1943, the Lutheran pastor and member of the German resistance, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, was arrested and incarcerated in Tegel Prison. There he meditated on the question of why the German people—in spite of their vast education, culture, and intellectual achievements—had fallen so far from reason and morality. He concluded that they, as a people, had been afflicted with collective stupidity (German: Dummheit).
He was not being flippant or sarcastic, and he made it clear that stupidity is not the opposite of native intellect. On the contrary, the events in Germany between 1933 and 1943 had shown him that perfectly intelligent people were, under the pressure of political power and propaganda, rendered stupid—that is, incapable of critical reasoning. As he put it:
In contrast to evil, the stupid person is completely satisfied with himself. When irritated, he becomes dangerous and may even go on the attack. More caution is therefore required when dealing with the stupid than with the wicked. Never try to convince the stupid with reasons; it’s pointless and dangerous.
This much is certain: it is not essentially an intellectual, but a human defect. There are people who are intellectually agile who are stupid, while intellectually inept people may be anything but stupid. We discover this to our surprise in certain situations.

Interesting!
One of my all time favourite essays which I’ve saved but would have to really dig for in my library of favourites. Thank you for this.
I live up here in “The Land Of Academia” and lemme tell ya, I’m surrounded by a whole lotta dummies.
What you are saying is entirely true.
There are tons of people up here with piles of letters after their names and they can’t cook a chicken or do a load of wash.
Its the same exact reason Sir, that the Bible can clearly state the truth of the redemption story,
and 80% of the people who read it come to a total different conclusion about what it says.
Very Intelligent people do this. And the facts of 100 clear verses written in their native tongue
of the english language, are rendered into nothing like what they say.
It is a human defect. Call it stupidity, mental illness even. I have been saying this for years, Its what the Democrat party
is eat up with.
Scripture calls it blindness.
“It depends on what the meaning of the word is is.”
That was an eye opener for me that smart people are sometimes the most stupid.
“Never try to convince the stupid with reasons; it’s pointless and dangerous.”
What a great statement!
Truth is a result of a human’s reasoning of the facts. … All reasoning that does not comport with the facts, is not true.

Oakland looters ransack gas station as store owner Sam Mardaie claims cops took hours to respond (nypost.com)
A mob of looters ransacked an Oakland gas station convenience store and caused thousands of dollars in damage as the frustrated store manager claimed police took nine hours to respond to his plea for help.
The horde, who had just attended a nearby car sideshow, broke into the 76 Station near the San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, according to ABC 7 News Bay Area.
Owner Sam Mardaie estimated approximately 80 to 100 people broke through his store’s front door and grabbed everything they could get their hands on.
“Shelves were ripped apart, all the grocery items were torn or stepped on or vandalized,” Mardaie told the outlet.
Video surveillance obtained by the outlet showed the looters snatching drinks from the fridges, food items off the shelves, boxes and baskets belonging to the store and a television.
The mob was reportedly upset they weren’t allowed inside the store as the business was only offering window service, a normal occurrence for the 24/7 shop during the overnight hours.
Approximately $25,000 in cash was taken from the store’s register and ATM, but the looters couldn’t grab the safe.
Maradie says he and his family took over the business in August 2023.
“Building yourself for the last ten months and then you’re back to square one,” he added.
“I come from Yemen, a third world country, and we don’t have those incidents in a third world country where there’s no law and order.”

Jesus’s first jingle of the day:
ANY day that ANY sick demented devotee of cultural Marxism eats crow is a good day, indeed!
Since you bring it up…homeschooling and trust by the schools…
from my observation in the people’s republic of IL…your child has a dollar sign on their head for every day they are in school. They, schools, don’t want to pay for appropriate special ed…either…but they want to raise your taxes…every year. And the schools no longer do what we expect them to…which is educate our kids in the 3 R’s and beyond.
Yes, EVERYTHING is a bottom line for profit business. We’ve all learned that from the Covid Vax back-end payments to
Drs, Hospitals, and even businesses for % vaccinated. Our School Administrators were really peeved if my kids missed daily roll call, as the State didn’t pay the District for that student that day.
Back in the day, mid 60’s…we had a snow day…the bus got to school after a very long and treacherous trip…sister got on the bus when we got there, told us to stay seated…counted heads and sent the bus to take us back home…suddenly, 60 years later, it makes sense, even then…(that was on Long Island, NY)…
I just saw this over at BB…the comments are spot on…
https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2024/07/06/schools-bracing-for-enrollment-cliff-amid-declining-u-s-birth-rate/
enrollment cliff?
there’ll be no frikkin’ enrollment cliff
not with the millions of illegal immigrants to be educated
You are so rightabout that dollar sign on our kids heads.
Several years ago a superintendent of a school district near us came up with the idea to invite the home schooled kids in the district to visit the school to see what it had ot offer.
This superintendent was offering these families $200 a head for the kids.
The day that home schooled kids were invited to was one of the days the government counts the kids to have some kind of idea as to how much money the schools got from the government.
The home schoolers had to come on this day only, no other day was offered.
This super was going to use some of the 3 or 4 thousand dollars a head to pay the $200.
The taxpayers got wind of this scheme and the government refused to pay out, the district was on the hook for the $200.
This guy was applauded and admired by other school superintendents around the state.
The taxpayers were less enthusiastic.
In articles in the local paper the super was quoted as “trying to find more funding for the students”.
The taxpayers did not think much of his idea to raid the state and federal government, they did not appreciate his lable of “funding”.
When his contract was up it was not renewed.
They cheat by any means necessary…
Nothing is off limits? OK then. I know that environmentalists are a sacred group and I’m sure that there are those in the movement who have good intentions and practice what they preach. But there are those who want nothing but to stir up enough concern to generate funds for their cause. Then there are the hypocrites. I am not necessarily talking about Al Gore living in a humungous house and preaching an inconvenient truth. I’m talking about the mom who piles disposable diapers in the landfills because it is more convenient and because she doesn’t have time to mess with cloth diapers and get in her workout routine before arriving at the office in her gas guzzling SUV. Yet, she feels free to criticize me for wanting to use a 75 watt incandescent light bulb. I drive less than 10,000 miles a year in a standard transmission vehicle; I take mass transportation to work; I rarely turn on my heat in the winter and limit the AC in the summer; I live in a 600 square foot condominium. Doesn’t that entitle me to use the light bulb that I prefer? Where does congress get off legislating my conservation? If we have to conserve, why not tax the least efficient means similar to the way cigarettes are taxed. I would pay more (I would still complain about it, mind you) for an incandescent light bulb if it meant better light by which to read. Yet I am forced to use an inferior product while others have a much larger carbon footprint. And while we are speaking of hypocrites. Let’s talk about those who are so pious about smoking that they cannot even tolerate others smoking in an outdoor area. Yet, they can’t wait to dine alfresco two feet from the street with bumper to bumper traffic and smog-producing busses running back and forth.
If you will indulge me in one “speculation”… congress. The thing that drives me the craziest is that congress has the lowest approval rating of the three branches of government and is probably at the lowest level since approval ratings have been recorded. It is something like 10%. That means that nine out of every ten people disapproves of the job that congress is doing (and no, that is not a typo – I refuse to capitalize the word “congress”). Yet, the retention rate for members is around 90%. Apparently we all hate the body as a whole but we love our congressman or congresswoman. At least that is the conventional interpretation of the numbers. I’m not sure I buy it. Surely some of that disapproval of congress as a whole would have to carry over to the individual representative. This falls along the same lines of we all complain about government but nothing ever changes. Why? Are we too lazy to get involved? Are we so concerned with raising our families and putting food on the table that we don’t have the time or energy to become passionate about making change? Are we so overwhelmed with the issues that we can’t see a clear path to change? Or are we just not that bothered by it? Wish I knew the answer.
Hating yourself, your ancestors and your culture is the objective and the disease. It is spread in colleges/universities, Media, and the Internet (mostly just flotsam, no value), Government (especially their protected employees) and now the owners of the former are outing themselves in the Corporations. They despise you.
The Divide and Conquer of the ages using different tools.
That is how Power is held by the very few over the many.
The American Founders, not particularly of the Common People, would weep.
What to do? By Political, Economic and Moral yardsticks, today’s America is a beached whale.
I would like to know who convinced the world that 3-button suit jackets weren’t ugly? And why so many women’s jackets have one button, placed 2″ to 3″ too high? Absolutely unflattering for a woman with a bosom (Ref: any photo of Pelosi)
A lot of disparate thoughts that come together beautifully into one.
😃 😊 😀
And they wonder why Trump talked about toilets that don’t flush. Every single day is filled with a bazillion petty annoyances. Appliances, writ large, worked and they kept working for decades. Now, everything breaks, leaks, or falls apart and pretty quickly. I was simply looking for tennis shoes this week. Very poor quality abounds, but if you want real quality that is not even real quality, you have to spend $80-100 on tennis shoes. We used to get great tennis shoes for kids for about $6-8 dollars and you could hand them down from kid to kid. Now, you pay quite a bit more and they fall apart before the school year is over. It’s just that way with EVERYTHING you buy. Junk. All junk. OUTSOURCING our manufacturing was a huge MISTAKE. And I want it all back here in the USA. Outsourcing has created enormous landfills of broken JUNK.
I think Liberals are big fat hypocrites. Don’t talk to me about climate change and eating bugs or electric vehicles. It’s all garbage. I’m sick of liberals perveting God’s creation to support whatever brain dead idea they come up with (here’s looking at you Bill Gates). I’m sick of Liberals attacking children and the youth. I’m sick of the attacks on the precious family the Lord God intended for us to have. It all leads to death and before that, a miserable life.
I have to pray daily that I will not become hate filled because I am so sick of the warped garbage. My life is intentional and beautiful and measured to care for the Creation and enjoy it’s benefits. Otherwise, I would be in a deep depression over what things have come to.
I don’t usually join in ranting because I must guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. But, that’s my rant.
Beautifully stated…I find guarding my heart to be more difficult each day…
About tennis shoes, triggers another thought…we are a frugal populace that knows the value of things…we are up against the globalists that wanting us spending over and over on the same items for example, kitchen appliances….I got a Kenmore ‘fridge…30 years old and going strong…same with the dishwasher…I hear from friends with either LG or Samsung appliances, parts are hard to come by and they break down, a lot.
What helps me to guard my heart is prayer: the instant I realize my thoughts are going down the wrong path, I pause — washing dishes, trying to sleep, reading, petting my precious pooch — and I pray Jesus’ prayer to Peter: Get thee behind me Satan; you have the things of men in mind, or,“Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns,[a] but man’s.”
I say it to Satan who is troubling my mind. I remind him that Jesus is mine and I am his; that I am a baptized child of God and never will He leave me; and Jesus holds me in His everlasting arms.
And I am reminding myself as well.
Resist the Devil and he will flee from you.
This is my daily prayer, and more often than not, I pray this several – or many – times a day.
Bravo! Menagerie!
While useful idiots are stupid, I believe those in charge are truly ruled by evil. They know exactly what they are setting in motion.
By the Evil One.
I suspect many of our health issues come from imbalance of Omega 6 to Omega 3 fats, aggravated by the substitution of seed oils for healthy animal fats.
Seed oils are heat-extracted from soy, corn, canola, sunflower, peanuts, safflower, etc and contain trace toxins. Cold-pressed olive, coconut, and avocado oils don’t develop the toxins and are technically fruit oils – much healthier.
You’ve listed both the seed oils, which I’m allergic to, and the cold-pressed oils, which are fine. (Only difference is that I think I’m okay with sunflower oil, but would have to further test that theory.) So actually, it seems like I’m not really allergic to foods … I’m allergic to toxins. Go figure!
“Every high civilization decays by forgetting obvious things.” – G.K. Chesterton
When tolerance too easily bends to acceptance, civilizations fail. We tolerate things that are destroying us as a nation and a culture, once the envy of the world with good reason!
The fixes now will require hard things, hard men and hard times, or Reagan’s “shining city on a hill” and “mankind’s last, best hope” will just be another entry in the dustbin of history far too soon.
What began as tolerance has morphed into acceptance then approval then support and lastly slaves of evil. It’s a diabolical method of making of us followers of the Evil One.
This is a vicious and destructive slippery slope.
The Pearls
A friend who read an earlier draft of this discussion (and didn’t immediately disown me) floored me by asking “I hope I don’t fall into one of those categories. But tell me, what should a real friend do?” He really opened my eyes. Until then I had selfishly been locked into what my wife calls “rant mode”. It has been terribly therapeutic to mock some of the insensitive things that have been said to me in all innocence, but he was right, or rather he was right about the unsaid subtext of that question: have I really thought about it? And I hadn’t. And I had no good answer for him. So I did the honest thing, and owned up to “I don’t know, let me think about it and get back to you”. Afterwards that grain of sand sat in the back of my brain and irritated the heck out of me for months.
That reminds me, I often call my wife a “pearl”. The overt message being that I think that she’s a jewel. The covert message is that a pearl is made up of layers of nacre secreted by an oyster to protect its soft inner parts from irritation caused by a grain of sand for example. So when I call my wife a pearl, I’m really telling her that she’s a constant source of irritation.
Many months later I ran into a professional friend whom I hadn’t seen in years. When I told her that I have MS, her jaw dropped. Now, you must understand that she’s a very professional, conservative, grandmotherly type. At first I was taken aback by her reaction. She looked me right in the face and said “That sucks”. It was a coincidence since I had already named this document MS Sucks and a bit of a personal epiphany for me. Right then and there I realized that that’s how a real friend should react. I don’t need your pity (I have enough self-pity to last me a lifetime), or your sympathy (very few people can carry it off with sincerity), and I don’t need to hear your wish that I’ll get better or feel better (I haven’t and very probably won’t). But honesty is never out of place, and frankly, cameraderie rocks! Mitch and Sandy, you are both pearls.
“The basic struggle today is not between individualism and collectivism, free enterprise and socialism, democracy and dictatorship. These are only the superficial manifestations of a deeper struggle which is moral and spiritual and involves above all else whether man shall exist for the state, or the state for man, and whether freedom is of the spirit or a concession of a materialized society.”
Communism and the Conscience of the West, Fulton J. Sheen, 1948
This was written long ago, but is still applicable today. Trump’s position is that the state exists for man. Established Democrats and Republications hold that man exists for the state.
I love the Archbishop Fulton Sheen! Oh and how he despised communism. Many of his writings are so applicable today in spite of being written 50+ years ago…
Relevant radio runs a program on Sunday mornings Life is worth Living…by the Archbishop…wonderful program.
I describe the condition as IRRATIONAL INSANITY.
It has actually been taught and learned !
I’m 73 years old, not politically tuned in for the vast majority of my life. However here’s what I’ve noticed.
Starting with Bush Jr the tone of vitriol from the Democrats slowly but noticeably ramped up compared to earlier Presidents and times. It increased dramatically from that point on. Today there’s no room for considerate/polite discussion from the Democrat side when political opinions differ. Huge, huge shift over decades of time.
So whenever I read/hear that a political figure is divisive, or that the country is becoming more and more divided it’s an incontrovertible fact that the Democrats obviously are the ones who perpetuate this division. I saw it happen with my own eyes.
Parenthetically – it was an eye-opener for me to hear Jordan Peterson explain that one in ten people have an IQ 85 or lower. Even the military can’t train them although they’ve tried. So the question for me is, how many brainwashed leftist liberal folks are simply cognitively diminished. And if it’s a lot – then rational logical discussion would be completely ineffective.
Also, unfortunately it has taken me and many others far too long to adjust to the reality that – just as always has been true throughout in history – there are people who are clearly trying to take over the world.
Yep, the whole world. Ala Hitler, Napoleon, Genghis Khan, Romans, Ottomans… and on and on. Sadly I missed the fact that this has always been true, will always be true, and certainly is true currently. The flavor of today is the globalists or elitists or however one wants to refer to the puppet masters behind the scenes. Bluntly – they are trying to conquer the whole world. Nothing new – but boy have I been asleep. We live in dangerous times.
Lastly – the demonic influence behind all this is obvious. Hitler was clearly possessed. And today many in high places are being influenced by the dark side to varying degrees. The satan is trying to push the timeline towards the endtimes scenario and it’s uncertain yet whether it will be successful. Pray, pray, pray.
So that’s my rant.
I highly recommend you read “45 Goals of Communism” from the book The Naked Communist by W. Cleon Skousen written in 1958
I have, thank you. Good expose! p.s. what’s happening currently in my view has all the earmarks of something that goes way beyond the communist agenda – tho of course easily intertwined.
If I read you correctly, perhaps it’s the case that the Communist Agenda is the material means of carrying out the spiritual war, (though not the only means).
The war in heaven —
Yes! I have the book. Very helpful in rounding out our civics? education.
I would add None Dare Call It Treason and Witness
Richard Pipes’ Communism: A History is a worthwhile read, too. I add it in the spirit of Sun Tsu’s dictum, “Know you’re enemy.
Know Your Enemy.
oops
I agree with you on demonic influence and possession. Someday that will be a more specific rant topic. The stupid things people do that allow evil into their lives amazes me, and that includes, unfortunately, sometimes Christians.
Paul Harvey…1965, eerie predictions
Dear Lord, we ask that you would rebuke Satan and remove his foothold from our lives, our families, our neighborhoods, our churches, and from among our missionaries, delivering us from evil so that we may become the servants you want us to be. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
I share some of your timing in that it was the second term of Bush 43 that I began following politics. I was looking to vote in 2008 and was trying to figure out what percentage of the President Bush media abuse was warranted, and then if McCain would be better or worse than Hillary/Obama.
It was obvious to me that the media was driving a shift from respecting the office of the President to out-and-out attacks on Bush 43, his character, his intelligence, his family, etc., etc. I recognized the media overwhelmingly criticized the man rather than the policy.
Obama becomes President and the media does a 180. It immediately became verboten to criticize anything Obama; everything became ‘racism’ – Everything – even down to a simple disagreement on political policy. In Obama’s second term, I noticed the media worked even harder to protect a feckless, soft, milquetoast presidency that catered to politically emotional cripples.
Not surprising to me, the media turned immediately on PDJT. First, it was a nice respite for them after 8 years of protecting Obama, they now had a foil they could openly attack and disrespect. Second, they were spoiled brats who weren’t accustomed to being told, NO.
The US mainstream media is a massive problem in this country – end of rant.
P.S.,
Having honest, credible elections at all levels would help force the media towards honest, credible reporting.
I should have got up earlier.
About the buttermilk, you cannot make decent biscuits with low-fat or fat-free buttermilk.
Let go and let God is some of the best advice I’ve ever received.
Never Volunteer information in court(from a very good lawyer.)
Reminiscent of “Never explain … your friends don’t need it, and your enemies won’t believe it anyways.”
Great post as always Menagerie. Respectfully … men should be judged by the content of their character not the fit of their jeans. Skinny jeans and being a liberal b* aren’t exclusive. Many here might make assumptions about what I believe or what I’m made of based on my clothes, but I’m confident enough in my own skin to keep living my best life regardless 🙂
I will say it’s a bit harder to carry in the skinnys but life finds a way… :-P. But baggier pants are back “in” anyway.
Much love to all my fellow treepers!
Whenever men’s current fashions are criticized, it’s important to remember the past: things like hose and codpieces, zoot suits and slashed shorts, Hammer pants and mankinis, cigarette jeans and 10×5 neckties and dropfronts and ruffled necks….the atrocity of fashion will always be with us. (I will rank visible underpants amongst the worst mistakes in history.)
We need some “Bee Keepers”!
Yes!!!Lot’s of beekeepers..( Good Movie)👍
I have too much to rant about, so will just throw in a short one: On July 14th First class postage stamps increase from 68 cents to 73 cents. 😲
Geez, again?
No worries my fellow Americans… We live 40 miles from Minneapolis in a town of 5,000 in rural farm country… All of our GenZers are G-d fearing, edumacated, and good shooters who know how to fix things and solve problems in general.
We have a random few America haters out here, but we whack-a-mole them every time they show their heads with FACTS.
People are learning when they get away from our dumpster fires known as cities.
Remember to ride a snowmobile into a ski resort or an ICE boat into an upscale marina of sailboats… Your offense is living free, logical, and fun. Be proud of it.
It was – and still is – a very great pleasure to stand a post while you slept! You understand this greatest of experiments!
I actually had an aunt come visit from West Texas (to California when it was habitable 60-70 years ago) when I was a youngster. Mom & she with me in tow headed off to the market to get some things because there was going to be cornbread sticks and buttermilk in the offing. She saw a container that actually said “low fat” buttermilk and mused “why in flaming Hades would I want that? That can’t even be buttermilk! Grab that other one, hon'”
Don’t piddle about. If you know what you want, dive in.
Errata: Cornbread sticks are done with the mixture poured into an old-time cast iron mold that yields sticks in the shape of an ear of corn, about 4-5 in. long. I have one from Mom; they might be found at yard sales.
“New Study Reveals That People Who Make Good Decisions Have An Unfair Advantage”
I started to laugh at that because I was sure it was a headline from The Babylon Bee, but then my mouth just dropped open when I saw it was a headline from the Associated Press! What is wrong with this world where people who make good decisions are seen as doing something unethical?
I work at a big box store. I’ve done many jobs with many classes, races and degrees of education. I’m 57 now. I thought I was past shocked. I can’t bet the exchange in how the sexes behave. Men are effeminate and women are masculine. It’s beyond a rare occurrence. It’s the norm now. I find myself nauseous some days.
“Nauseous” indeed is what one may feel going out in public today!
What is most disturbing is the size of people: 300-500 pounds of blubber going down aisles in motorized chairs!
They dress in too small T-shirts and shorts with no shame at exposing their dripping avoirdupois.
And if they are not ugly and freakish enough, they often show tattoos for some unknown reason!
Sorry to those who think or thought they are/were somehow a way to remember somebody or show allegiance: they make me nearly nauseous. I just look away in disgust almost every time I am out these days.
A recent report from Swedish scientists found a possible link to various cancers from tattooing, but we expected that at some point: injecting ink into your skin to discolor it!
As they say: “What could go wrong?”
But yes, there is no shame and no pride in one’s appearance for too many people today: a symbol of our society’s decline, which no politician will be able to cure.
For what it is worth, one can read Leviticus 19:28, where God condemns tattooing as something done by pagans.
Perhaps that is how Neo-Paganism is marking its members.
When I was young, there were only two reasons a man got a tattoo, he went to war or prison. For some, both.
Now I see matrons, with new tattoos everywhere, even at church. I am ashamed for the nation.
I agree entirely, Ausonius…
It’s hard for me to accept – people don’t seem to have any dignity or respect for their appearance.
Some even wear their pajamas to the store.
Unbelievable…
Sometimes it feels like I’m living in a foreign world.
Conversations with Democrats are hopeless. They take no responsibility for any of their policies. Defund the police is fine. Crime happens. There has always been immigration and we are a nation of immigrants. On and on and on. The only place you can get some agreement on is that we need to get rid of lobbyists. Of course, they want the Republicans lobbyists out first, then we can talk about theirs later. We are too far apart on solutions and I don’t see unity.
Truth has its roots in scripture…Sundance spouts truth when he calls the left stupid… “The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left. Even as he walks along the road, the fool lacks sense and shows everyone how stupid he(she) is.” Ecclesiastes 10:2
Excellent post. A word about dictionaries. One of the very first things I noticed that was askew was when for kicks I started typing into Google “what is a Conservative” & “what is a Liberal” it’s got to be 15 years ago or so. I would get to “What is a Conser” and Google would autofill the rest and up pops merriamwebster.com with what I could only say were extremely biased definitions on each query. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing. That was the beginning of my own awakening. Keep those old dictionaries handy:)
Speaking of online dictionaries: ever since I began taking the quick route to word definitions, about 12 years ago, I’ve been acutely aware that some are following the revisionist method of defining words, you know, the new-speak, heavily peppered with pc influence.
So I hunted around until I found a site much less heavily into “language change.”
Dictionary.com had become my go to and only source — for 10 years? more?
Until very recently — Now when I head over there, the page won’t open for me. Hoping the “glitch” would go away, I continue to select it first, and have been doing so for 6 months, maybe more.
I suspect foul play.
With so many things manufactured in China, are we becoming a people who don’t know how to make anything anymore?
Isn’t that what our betters are promising?
You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy.
If this promise were made by Hitler or Stalin, as a nation we would wage war against them. But no. There’s no appetite for war unless the betters organize it and prosper mightily by it, and have the satisfaction in knowing that they’ve successfully decimated the population of young men, and innocent civilians.
Yet another depopulation scheme, eh what Mr. Gates???
Nothing is off limits? Okay, then let’s discuss Israel. Our elected officials fly Israeli flags and wear Israeli military uniforms in Congress. Our elected officials put up missing person posters for Israelis, but not the missing American children in their own Congressional districts. We have state laws on the book that require businesses to pledge loyalty to Israel if they want to enter a state government contract. The federal governments sends billions in foreign aid to Israel every year, which has free healthcare, free college, and strict immigration policies while our own American citizens go without. If our elected officials engaged in this same behavior for China or Saudi Arabia, then there would be a national uproar, but because it’s Israel, Americans are “anti-semitic” if they question any of this. The hypocrisy is unacceptable. There cannot be serious discussion about foreign infiltration of America until the hypocrisy is addressed.
Please allow me to disagree about liberals being stupid. Some are, but their leaders (IMHO) are highly intelligent – and evil.
Very cunning. Their foolishness is based in a false sense of security that they will always “get away with it” because “someone else” will protect them, cover for them, bail them out, pay their bills – when things go wrong. So they continue “skating on thin ice” in everything they do: destroying marriage & family; endless debt (paid by someone else); endless war (fought by someone else); etc., etc.
Even if our side takes power away from them and even if our side grows a spine to force leftists to face justice/accountability – the liberals/leftists will not take accountability to heart, they will maintain their cold hearts of stone, unfeeling, unhuman.
This is a spiritual issue. Only the Third Person of The Holy Trinity can deal with liberals/leftists. Those people are beyond the help of person-to-person reason and persuasion.
I have balked at Bonhoeffer’s “stupid” argument/assessment since I first encounter it on another forum.
He, of all people, should recognize sin and evil when he sees it.
And Jeremiah: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately.
Scripture does not attribute stupidity to people when the core failing — for all of us — is sinfulness.
and desperately wicked
ooops again. 🙁
Very much enjoyed your post! Lots of wisdom in there. Thanks.
My wife and I were discussing the switchout of Biden in favor of the mystery candidate du jour.
I am not sure whom they will elevate. She says M. O. won’t run and has said so several times.
Ceasar refused the crown 3x before accepting dictarship for life.
M. O. has not made a Shermonesque denial:
“If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve.
And then my mind flashed to episode 9 of I Claudius where the Praetorian guard seizes on an unwilling Claudius hiding behind the curtains after the assassination of Caligula and makes Claudius Emperor to continue the dynasty and save their phony balony jobs.
B.O. saves the dems from Harris. They can raise 60- 230 million easily to replace the Biden-Harris campaign chest wit B.O. .
I do not think she will say no. Meanwhile Joe is bleeding out. Leftwing comedians are ridiculing on TV. And even dems who saw him know this cannot go on.
MAOchelle MAObama is an obvious possibility, followed by Shrillary, and the other wannabes.
We shall see!
Of more importance is combating Election Fraud.
The Communists have no shame about openly cheating: to quote Billy Jeff Clinton, they will do “whatever it takes.”
Assassination is part of that immoral/amoral Nietzschesque philosophy, of course, so both fronts must be opposed and conquered.
M.O. is too lazy for the job and even lazier to display any pretense that she’d be interested.
Michelle Obama is too despondent and lazy to take the job, however the “secret sauce” is… that she need not DO the job. The current pREsident doesn’t do the job himself, either. He simply resides as figurehead. Michelle in her walking shorts and tennis shoes in her New England mansion where her husband’s lover drowns in a wade pool is just another pawn in a long list of derived “leaders” sent to be installed to frustrate the American voter.
She is a mooch. Taking scraps from her betters’ dinner tables. So is the other figureheads that we have visual of. No, the strike from the American people must go much higher.
It would be interesting for the American people to simply “sit down” No more producing a la “Atlas Shrugged”. No more bricks for Pharoah by the Hebrew slaves.
But just like good old Joey, she isn’t the one who will be running things.
Take this the right way–But Biden has been and is too sick to be president much less run. As we all know Biden is just the Globalist mouthpiece with others pulling the strings behind the scenes.
So why not use M.O as the new mouthpiece. H3LL when you look at Biden, it could be Goofy living in the WH, for the man in the WH is not the one actually acting and doing the job of president.
But Joe already set the precedent of being on vacation half the time and being absent (of mind) for the rest.
Big Mike running has never made sense. Why take the blame for the destruction of the Country when you can just throw a Joe or Kamala out there but still pull all the strings.?
Which is exactly why they will let Trump have this election. Of course he will in literal sense win the election, but they will “grant” it to him, so that he will be tasked with fixing the economy for the next episode in grifting and thievery.
I am always suspect of something so forced as fleeing towards any one candidate from another. I love Trump and I love what he did for our nation’s prosperity in his tenure – but this “Truman Show” needs to end and I put nothing past any of them.
My personal opinion is that they will pull some crazy stunts at the DNC convention like they did in 2008. You see back in 2008 the DNC told the democratic voters that it was up to them who was put on the General Ballot, regardless of how the primary voters voted. Not sure what, who or how, but we need to keep an eye on the convention.
Then there is the November election. Will there be one, will it be legal or will they try to quarantine us all for the Bird Flu. Already Wisconsin has reversed their previous voter drop box decisions, so I can’t help but wonder which state will be next will be using drop boxes.
Wisconsin voters can once again return ballots by drop box, state high court rules UPDATED JULY 5, 202410:44 AM ET

B. Hussein Obama cannot be VP because he is ineligible to be President.
Michelle Obama is far too lazy to want to be even a puppet President. I think the Dems are stuck with Biden / Harris. Tee hee!
If you read the text of the 22nd Amendment carefully, BO is ineligible to be elected to another term. Nowhere does it state he would be ineligible to serve another term by succession.
Rush used to say Michelle My Bell would run. She needs to take off her dress first. That is an awfully big lie of deceit to overcome.
