I concur. That statement was something that his handlers told him to memorize and use when responding to his Illegal Aliens Raping and Murdering American Women. Trouble was that “Not All There” Joe’s memory is not very good, in fact it is bad. So, he just mentioned relatives because that was all he could remember (sort of). Joe also threw in the “arrested when crossing state lines” because that was in his abortion talking points to remember.
His remarks were similar to those he made regarding Laken Riley’s murder at the SOTU:
“Laken Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal. That’s right. But how many thousands of people being killed by legals? To her parents, I say, my heart goes out to you, having lost children myself. I understand,”
Later he apologized for using the word “illegal“!

According to a new poll from the Washington Post and the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, if “democracy is on the ballot,” the majority of the public believes that threat comes from elsewhere, including possibly Biden himself.
Over half of the respondents told the Washington Post that threats to democracy are extremely important to their vote for president. However, 44% said they think Trump would do a better job at handling those threats. Only 33% of respondents said they believe Biden would be better for democracy.

This was a Seventh Amendment case. The amendment says, “In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed $20, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.”
The SEC used its in-house administrative law judge to fine George Jarkesy $300,000 and to confiscate another $685,000 from him. There was no jury. Well, you don’t need a calculator to determine that $985,000 is more than $20. Mister Jarkesy sued for his 7th Amendment right to a jury trial. He fought all the way to the Supreme Court.
