There was a time when mules were of great value in the creation of what sustains all human community life. Mules that pulled ploughshares were evaluated with a level of discernment that would rival modern NFL drafts.
Entire communities, often spread miles apart, knew the strength of each other person’s mules. Auctions would bring people from great distances, and there were quiet men of great knowledge who understood the invisible traits that qualified the best mules.
The best, the absolute best, were held with a regard even more valuable than the land they walked. The remarkable thing about these mules was their diversity in physical appearance. Ultimately, what made the great mules of such value was the part that could not be seen, the part the quiet men looked for.
Those mules were like the men who recognized them, and the crowd would whisper to each other in muted tones as they watched the subtle yet deliberate movement of the quiet men with great intensity. Words would be spoken of a silent language that would take place between the quiet men and the mules afore them. There was something invisible being measured and evaluated. Eventually, decisions were made.
The hands behind the plows were ultimately the beneficiaries of the advice from the quiet men, and those calloused hands would become quiet men themselves in later years.
When the collar reached the shoulder, the best mules did not need instruction, they knew what came next. The silent language that transferred from the auction to the destination continued. Over time, the hands atop the plow and the mule became of one purpose. This is when the legends of some mules began.
The best mules had something within them that resolved to the task at hand. The scale and scope of the topsoil was the canvas, but the raw and often harsh task at hand was the real challenge. For some lesser mules the effort required in new ground was too much, but for the best it was just another day; although perhaps a day of week, or month when the bone structure formed the shape of the collar.
The hands upon the plow tested the ability of the mule. It had to be done dispassionately if the family was to achieve success, and ultimately if the community were to thrive.
When the blade was moved a degree deeper, the collar pulled just that much tighter – deeper. The best mules knew what those sensations implied. There were times for looking forward, but when the resistance was the strongest, these were not those times. At these times the mules looked down at only the two feet in front of them, and they focused on those two feet, and then the next, and then the next…. until they felt the pressure subside. Then it was time to turn.
There were lands where no mules could succeed – miles of square acres containing buried rock and dirt compacted over centuries, long before humans started apportioning it. However, there were some mules who had the capability to move that soil, plow through those rocks, and with nothing more than brute force create the opportunity for harvest. This is what the quiet men were looking for. These were the silent questions exchanged.
I think about those quiet mules returning to their stables as the sun dropped, and the feeling of the straps being scraped across the back as they are removed. I think about that silent message as the farmers hand touches the side of the neck with great appreciation. I wonder if the approval connects to the determination that will follow at sunrise. Is this the trait the quiet men were looking for? Is determination the invisible language within that interview, an auction now long in the past? I think it was.
The events of the past several weeks have shown us there are harsh landscapes ahead. We are traveling to places that have never been contemplated. We are witnessing things accepted that were always out of bounds. There are no boundaries in this new place. This land is hard, and it will take quiet men with callouses to guide us through it.
It is time for the old mules to revisit the legend of their kin.
It is time for the counsel of quiet men.
It is a time to remember the purpose of that old collar hanging on the wall.
It is a time for that unspoken language to be understood.
It is time for the old mules to take lead and plow the terrain.

Do we, who “see through a dark glass dimly”, even understand what the “this” is? Trust me, God does, and he will respond appropriately with His perfection.

I’m not so confident that everyone, or even most “fight”, “struggle”, or “do their best”. God doesn’t study for the student, work for the worker, exercise for the athlete, build for the builder, fight for the warrior, or do politics. I’m not yet ready to be in the lion’s den or boxcar, rationalizing that it’s all God’s will, or wait for justice in the afterlife. But that’s just me.

I pray for wisdom, guidance and strength, etc., and do not expect God to take care of things for me, fight for me, or do politics, that God works through us, not for us, else evil would not exist in the world. We thought we would be somewhere else and then our children came home after their military careers with our grandchildren. We are here. More importantly, we have had a soldier in every US conflict from the Revolution through Afghanistan. I know exactly where we must be. I can love the young while their parents do the hard work. It’s a question I think about often.
There were also folks who stayed and organized quietly and prepared to fight a covert war against the Nazis.
Other folks, too old or infirm to actively wield weapons, supported the secret resistance fighters with food or money or shelter or information gleaned from their position at work.
Some left, but supported those left behind, again with money or provisions or information or even just speaking out about the evil regime they left behind.
There’s nothing wrong with leaving a battlefield, but that doesn’t mean you have to leave the fight.
Our brave founders could easily have returned to their country of origin when the going got tough. Instead, they thought what they had founded was worth fighting for and they were right. Where else can you find a country like ours used to be? Nowhere – that’s why many around the world wanted to come here. We cannot let them down after what they sacrificed to build this country. We at least owe the founders the effort to bring that country back – whatever it takes.
We have given these traitors many chances to do the right thing. Instead, they have doubled down. They have replaced God with the vilest of evils, mocking Him and His Word. They really have left us with no option. I’m an old lady so I remember how good our country used to be. If we don’t win, I prefer to go down fighting for the country we once were. When we meet our founders in heaven, at least I will be able to look them in the eye and say we did our best.
Well, whoever leaves should make sure it’s a one-way ticket.
If you feel a need to leave the USA, then you have that right to make that decision. Forget the name calling here. I wonder, however, if you have a passport so that you can travel to a different country. As I understand it, it is not an easy process and takes a few months. The country you determine to move to may also require certain things from you, such as vaccines. And once you get to the other country, how difficult is it to travel out of the country? Forget those who would try to shame you in wanting to leave. For myself, I vowed many years ago that before I would leave the current place I live (meaning my own personal land in this country), Gabriel himself would have to stand at the foot of my bed and tell me to go! HA! No one is forcing you, BuckNutGuy, to stay here (well….not yet). It is solely you decision.

Having had mules I will add they are animals of uncanny perception and patience. They will never let themselves be placed in situations which endanger their lives. They know when to say no.
Good analysis. My Dad was a “mule skinner” with Merrill’s Muraders in WW2. Anyone who knows the history of that group fighting the elements, disease and the Japanese in Burma knows there were very assignments more difficult. Dad had many comparisons to these valuable animals and their contribution to the war. To “skin” a mule meant to outsmart them. Many times members of that group would attempt to grab on to one of the mules for support during their extremely difficult march. Dad said many times other soldiers would slap around those who tried to hang on to the mules for support, being protective of the mules. Where many took mules for granted, those who knew these mules’ worth, would value those animals almost as much as their human handlers and each other.

I used to raise dairy goats, their milk is the next best thing to breast milk. If a child has allergies or an adult is lactose intolerant find them some easily digestible goat’s milk.
They are very smart and stubborn too. They also keep your lawns mowed.
My family not being farmers, we nevertheless fed the grandkiddlings goat milk after they were weened from momma’s milk.

Read that the donation site was starting to crash due to the overwhelming number of people donating so was glad this one is up and running!
At this point in time, this seems the smart move while we figure out how many mules we may need in the coming fieldwork. I love mules, we have a small herd of wild ones that come to our mine and so always remember to bring a huge bag of carrots. I had been praying a lot for President Trump to be acquitted. Then, somehow it came to me to pray for God’s will instead. God has a better plan which includes President Trump being found guilty. It’s like in 2020, when we all prayed for the ballot fraud to be litigated. President Trump is more popular than ever even though he “lost.” Many more people want President Trump than before because of how bad “Joebama” has been. I just hope to God that the plan includes President Trump not being hurt and ending up as our President.

What did I say to bring such an accusation?

I understand your perspective but I would like to offer something a little different.
Sometimes addicts have to be close to death before they will establish the resolve to beat back against the addiction and to recognize that God alone can help them be restored to “original condition / vision.”
I see our nation at that point now – recognizing we are truly at death’s door and hearing through the comments that resolve is establishing within people.
I have continued to hold on to the hope of restoration for various reasons, but one of them most importantly is that the People whom He caused to come to Plymouth entered into a Compact (aka covenant) between themselves and the Almighty.
Perhaps a review of that Compact might offer you some hope.
I hope you are right. I have a son and grandchildren. I don’t want them to live their lives in the United Socialist States of America under a tyrannical government that has the ability to jail or worse anyone anytime the “president” sees fit, a country where the federal police spies on anyone who objects.

Do not go to movies.
Do not pay for TV (cable, satellite, Netflix).
If you must have Amazon Prime due to location/business, place your orders one item at a time to maximize Amazon’s costs.
If your church promotes SJW crap, don’t give them a penny.
Get the list of businesses that support Planned Parenthood and boycott accordingly.
If your college-age child is spouting progressive nonsense or you know they vote Democrat, cut them off financially.

If you live in rural areas, stop giving blood – the rural areas supply the urban areas.
